Sunday Yankees vs Whitesox 7/16/06 Gamethread
fathom replied to southsideirish71's topic in 2006 Season in Review
I'm getting real annoyed with PK rolling over on pitches. With the infield back, that was the one place he couldn't hit it to. Well....that was pathetic. Cora runs us out of a run.....again! -
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 12:28 AM) Anyone want to bet that game one next Friday night (when Texas comes to town) that Tracey rights a wrong? Should be interesting. Personally, I'd rather he just have a blank slate when he returns to the team.
-
It didn't take long for the great Gary Majewski to blow up for the Reds already.
-
QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 12:19 AM) I'm just wondering if we're seeing the effects from last season. guys throwing all those innings, all those complete games in October. The mileage adds up. One less month off. they could be wearing down. Freddy has lost velocity. Cliff is toast. Buehrle is off. just a thought. I agree, and it makes me appreciate that we capitalized on our opportunity.

QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 10:47 PM) So I guess Fathom was wrong. That sucks. I'm very happy that Ozzie has changed his opinion on Tracey. -
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 11:10 PM) Fathom, care to comment? I stand by the information 100 pct that Ozzie went off on him with a minor league coach. It's from the same source that told me about the Mariotti/Ozzie incident at 8 PM the night before the news broke (as Flash will confirm).
-
QUOTE(WCSox @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 10:38 PM) I can understand people jumping on Garland for his "Judly-like" pitching earlier this year, but I'm shocked that Buehrle is suddenly trade bait after three bad starts. If anybody on this staff deserves the benefit of the doubt, it's Mark Buehrle. I agree, but if he'll net you a package like what he mentioned, you do it in a second. Remember, Buehrle's going to be very expensive soon.
-
If it's Tracey, I'm pleasantly stunned.
-
QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 10:22 PM) Tracey didn't start. Interesting. It would be great if Ozzie was able to get over his personal frustrations with the Tracey incident, and did what's best for the team.
-
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 10:21 PM) What does Farnsworth throw? It'd be nice if he had the gas his brother has. During the AAA all-star game, he was around 90 mph with his fastball. He's pitched in the majors before, and wasn't impressive.
-
If we have to use a minor league pitcher, it will either be Hermanson or Farnsworth. I stand by my source that says he'd be stunned if Tracey plays for a Guillen managed team again.
-
QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 10:14 PM) So does this mark the return of Sean Tracey or are we going to play the Montero game again? Option C
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 09:22 PM) Fine, I'm annoyed enough to say it. Think the Mets would do Milledge, Heilman, and Sanchez for Buehrle? Well, if they would do that trade, see ya Mark.
-
Yep, I'm sure this has been hard on Politte. Thanks for everything last season! It was one of the best middle relief years I've ever seen. I'm sure Mrs. Politte has been looking for real estate in Cincinnati for the last few weeks. I wonder who we'll call up now? My prediction is still Roberto Hernandez via trade on Monday.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 07:42 PM) That's exactly right. I remember Hawk talking a couple years ago about all the guys the Sox had in their organization that threw 95 and up. What happened? Maybe we can keep getting Angels cast-offs, as they have no problem developing power pitchers. QUOTE(chisoxt @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 07:42 PM) That would be stupid. Why trade someone with the upside of a Tracey for a has been like Henandez? Tracey could probably do everything Roberto could at this point, so why take on the salary? Because Ozzie hates Tracey. -

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 07:41 PM) Roberto Hernandez = a lot of baserunners, which I guess is better than Cliff Politte = a lof of baserunners and a lot of runs. Roberto Hernandez = friends with Ozzie Guillen = very likely to end up with White Sox. -

QUOTE(Big Hurtin @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 07:39 PM) Jim Abbott could pitch better than Politte, right handed. (I know I'm going to hell for that one) Hell no, that's funny. Maybe Abbott could be our new left fielder. He's better defensively than what we have out there, and he could take 3 pitches and sit down easily also. -

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 07:38 PM) KW makes all his moves on Wednesday. How much longer in the minors for hermy? The reports in today's Tribune about Hermanson weren't optimistic at all. -

My prediction: Roberto Hernandez will be on the White Sox by Tuesday in a deal including Sean Tracey. -

QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 07:35 PM) Cliff's now has a stellar 8.89 ERA right now. Wow, I had no clue it was even close to being that high. And to think some people on here actually argue that the Tigers pitchers aren't good. :banghead -

QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 07:29 PM) me too. Send him where he wants to go. In addition if he goes 1-12 or whatever he did in 2003 than the St Louis Fans can praise him when he ends up at 500 for the year and they pay him 8 million. In the meantime we need to stop drafting crafty guys who top off at 92. I love Mark Buehrle, as he's one of my favorite all time Sox players (and easily our best closer ever). However, he's about to get EXTREMELY expensive. QUOTE(quickman @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 07:31 PM) But if he keeps sucking than he will be gone. I like that option better if I know we will lose this game anyway. You and I agree on a lot....which probably means the Sox are in trouble. -

I didn't see any mention of this, but the reports about Hermanson weren't promising at all. They said he's pitching in a lot of discomfort still. -

Am I a bad fan for wanting Politte to get crushed this inning? -

QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Jul 15, 2006 -> 07:24 PM) Duh...or Buerhle... It's too bad that the Cardinals don't have some big prospects, as I would seriously consider trading Buehrle for a top-notch package this offseason.
