QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 27, 2006 -> 12:08 AM) They obviously have something to do after the game with their approach at the plate tonight. Lilly is not a strikeout artist. He feasts on teams that will chase his fastball up. He has a few Ks already on pitches well up and out of the zone.
-
Lilly has our hitters chasing everything he throws to the plate. Our hitters were successful working the count in the 2nd inning.....but why keep doing something that works?

QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ May 27, 2006 -> 12:02 AM) I think Freddy should throw his fastball out of the zone. The funny thing is that his stuff is much sharper than it has been most of the year. The Blue Jays have, in my opinion, the best all-around lineup in baseball. However....you can't keep throwing a great hitter like Wells the same pitch, and not expect him to crank it.

QUOTE(chitownsportsfan @ May 26, 2006 -> 11:59 PM) You're kidding right? He's 25, and not at all that great. Cabrera is a 3 years younger, and almost twice as good the hitter, from OPS+ anyways. Ok....least experienced, most improved player. I thought he was younger than 25 though. He's the closest I've seen to a 5 tool player in a long time.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 26, 2006 -> 11:56 PM) Freddy is so trash at holding runners Some decade, we'll call a pitch-out in a blatant running spot.

Rios = best young player in baseball.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ May 26, 2006 -> 10:26 PM) I think we should use Fields as trade bait, then use him to pick up some relievers or whatever other spots we need help at. I'd keep Crede. Personally, I'm going to be pissed off if we trade Fields for a reliever. The only exceptions would be if it's a top-notch reliever, but that type of pitcher likely won't be available.

Dempster with another craptastic performance!

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 26, 2006 -> 07:59 PM) Last year we faced Ted Lilly in Toronto and bombed the living crap out of him early. Lets recreate that and drop the bomb on them this weekend. Lilly's a high fastball pitcher. Our offensive success will probably be dictated by whether or not our hitters can get on top of his high pitch. He reminds me of a lefty version of Scott Elarton, who we've struggled against with the high fastball.

I remember thinking that juror was nuts when they interviewed. She seemed so full of hate for people. Would anyone be surprised if these two end up "dating"?

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 26, 2006 -> 02:07 PM) Fields will be converted to another position anyway, his fielding will never quite be major league quality from what I hear. Trading him away might be a mistake, as he is raking. And if you are going to trade him away, wait until this offseason where his value around the league as a prospet will likely be much higher than it is right now. My dream move this offseason is still Broadway, Fields, and 2 other good prospects for Miguel Cabrera.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ May 25, 2006 -> 09:08 PM) Winning run on 1st. With the Royals pen....this should read "temporary go-ahead".
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ May 25, 2006 -> 09:01 PM) Its hard to believe the White Sox blew a 6 run lead to the Royals. They are the most pathetic franchise in all of sports. They make the Blackhawks look good. That game would have been a Sox blow out if not for "The Adventures of Ozuna".
-
I know it's against the Royals, but I've been impressed with the Tigers mentality all year. You can tell that they expect to win, and Leyland's done a great job changing that environment.

QUOTE(illinilaw08 @ May 25, 2006 -> 07:36 PM) Also of note, Lost is the best drama of tv by far, I love this show. I'm a fan of Lost. However, there's no doubt in my mind that the best drama I saw on television this season was Prison Break.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 25, 2006 -> 04:00 PM) That has been my observation as well. Get a few fastball foul balls, and Its basically a two pitch strikeout. You CANT hit his curve after seeing two fastballs. Which is also why we can't complain if someone eventually jumps on the first pitch fastball, and does a lot of damage against it. Right now, Jenks reminds me of K-Rod when he first came up. He's a strikeout waiting to happen.

Ozzie: Mack going to start more games in CF
fathom replied to greasywheels121's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 25, 2006 -> 03:47 PM) Mack got one and gave them one... By my count that makes the score 2-1, no? His leadoff double started the rally when we were down 1-0. He also had a two out RBI that gave us a huge insurance run. I'm also not ready to start blaming him for Dye dropping that ball. It was poor communication by two veterans, and we should just be thankful that we didn't blow the game because of it. Mackowiak's given us as much offensive contribution this week as Anderson has in a month.....his defense isn't great, but it's not nearly as bad as some of the Anderson lovers are trying to state it is. Good job by Ozzie of putting the best team on the field right now. -

Without Mackowiak in the starting lineup last night, we don't win the game. And Dye's just as much to blame on the dropped fly ball as Mackowiak is. Also....anyone who thinks that Anderson would have gotten a hit off of Haren last night is nuts. Righties only had 1 hit last night against A's pitching. -
Jenks has been most effective this year when he's been able to get two strikes on the hitter without throwing his big hook. He's been striking out a ton of hitters recently with that hook.
-
f*** YEAH! Absolutely nasty set of pitches by Jenks. Enjoy the day off tomorrow everyone....including you jphat.

QUOTE(daa84 @ May 25, 2006 -> 02:36 AM) jenks 1-0 pitch was 85...was that a cutter? The radar gun's all messed up. Drop the hook!!
-
Nasty hook there. One of his best ones of the season. Keep Kotsay in the park.
-
A strong storm is heading towards the city. Hopefully Jenks can hold them down, and the game will be over.

QUOTE(JimH @ May 25, 2006 -> 02:23 AM) Wow for anyone who says Ozzie doesn't care about sweeps Exhibit A is using 4 pitchers in the 8th inning there. I don't recall him ever using 4 in one inning. You know I'm a HUGE fan of that move. I was whining about it on Sunday, as I thought he should have been in to face Barrett. As long as the manager is going for it, I can't fault him. QUOTE(JimH @ May 25, 2006 -> 02:25 AM) Am I confused, who pitched to Chavez that inning? Boone Logan Big moment on ESPN

QUOTE(jphat007 @ May 25, 2006 -> 02:23 AM) When was the last time he hit a HR to right? Vs Kevin Gregg
