  1. Uribe had no chance to stop the game-winning hit. It was placed perfectly in the hole and soft enough for Pods to have no chance to throw out Bloomquist (it was a good throw by Pods). The biggest defensive play of the game was when Uribe was unable to field Bettancourt's hard single in the 7th. It was a tough play, but a play that good defensive players typically make. If he stops that grounder, it's a whole different ball game. However, our left side of the infield has been sensational on defense this year, so you can't blame them.
  2. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 05:30 AM) As far as the pitch, ya it seems like it was a good pitch(I can't watch any games right now), and Brandon just got beat. It's not the last time that'll happen either, just gotta get 'em tomorrow. Yep, our pitchers are all going to lose games like that. I think McCarthy would have bee more effective throwing a few more fastballs tonight. If you start just throwing 77 mph pitches on every batter, that's going to make it a lot easier to adjust to the pitch.
  3. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 02:01 AM) A 12th pitcher would be as much a waste of space as Ross. For the 100th time, we need to replace Gload with a righty hitting outfielder. I can't believe we have to play Mackowiak against a lefty 3 weeks into the season.
  4. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 05:25 AM) The loss is on our best reliever(up to this point) as well. This game is killing me right now cause I hate losses like this but unfortunately that is baseball and s*** like this happens. If you think of all the stuff that went wrong tonight, it's not a negative loss. The Anderson homer will do nothing but help his confidence, and Cotts/Politte looked well. I'd rather lose the way we did instead of just give up in the 9th like we used to do a few years ago.
  5. Our inability to hold runners/prevent them from stealing really cost us tonight. You can't make it that easy for the team to get the winning run into scoring position.
  6. I do find it ironic though how the Sox had many deep fly balls with their homer swings tonight, but the Mariners won on a little flipper through the left side. I think that might be jpaht's nightmare come true.
  7. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 05:19 AM) Reed=Lefty, Betancourt=Righty. There, I solved the mystery. Isn't McCarthy better vs lefties?
  8. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 05:19 AM) We haven't had that many different lineups this year. For the entire homestand it was pretty much the same guys. Yep, and we won 8 in a row. We had an amazing rhythm going....and simply didn't field our normal lineup tonight. It's not a big deal in the overall scheme of things....but winning the first game on this road trip would have been huge.
  9. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 05:18 AM) Why even waste time typing that, seriosuly? Just as I said a previous post was the worst one I've seen, this was one of the better posts in a while. Short and sweet.
  10. QUOTE(chisoxfan79 @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 05:18 AM) In defense of our offense that was a pitchers umpire tonight and those Home Run Swings by everybody from the eigth inning on didn't help either. Don't sell our offense short....the home run swings started from the 5th inning on.
  11. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 05:17 AM) I have a funny feeling our offense would be a bit better if the regulars were out there with maybe one sub.
  12. QUOTE(BlackBetsy @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 05:15 AM) Actually a pretty good pitch - Betancourt just got the bat out there and flicked it. It happens. He threw two straight changeups though. You bust him in high and tight, and then you can throw that pitch again. Look at the swing he took though...he was just waiting to flip his bat out at the ball.
  13. QUOTE(KWs OK for Me @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 05:15 AM) I think he was hanging his curve man. His change on the 2nd pitch of the last at bat and I think the 2nd or 3rd of the Beltre bat and one to Sexson had them so far out ahead. I think it was curve that wasn't biting at all Nope...it was his change.
  14. QUOTE(TitoMB345 @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 05:14 AM) Mother f***er. I can't believe that s***. I almost wish we would have lost in the 9th, so Crede, Dye, and Pods got the rest. What a waste of a game. Congrats on the worst post I've ever seen.
  15. QUOTE(KWs OK for Me @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 05:13 AM) His change up is just plain and simply NASTY His change was pathetic tonight.
  16. That's f***ing awful. 3 straight changeups? Give me a break.
  17. Good...if we're going to lose, I'd rather it not be cause of Reed. I hope our outfield is playing shallow enough to not lose on a blooper.
  18. Whew...got away with another high offspeed pitch.
  19. McCarthy's change is awful tonight. He's slowing down his whole delivery, and it's up in the zone.
  20. Man..we make it way too f***ing easy to steal. Why not do a pitch-out?
  21. I've never seen someone closer to the line than PK in that situation.
  22. 89 mph fastball down the plate = thankfully fouled
  23. QUOTE(Wedge @ Apr 25, 2006 -> 05:04 AM) McCarthy in Hopefully he'll get Sexson off-balanced. I'm sure he'll be swinging for the fences.
  24. Well, only way we can win this game is with a homer it seems. Big inning here, as I like our chances next inning.
