  1. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 09:56 PM) Butler isnt a whole lot? He played some damn good defense against the "1 man fast break" today. It's easy to guard the 1 man fast break in the halfcourt. He has absolutely no 1-on-1 skills on offense. It's fine, they like little guards like him in the NBDL.
  2. The Big 10 is going to lose a ton of talent after this season. The conference will likely be down next season. The ACC is going to be absolutely loaded next season, with Duke, UNC, GT, and others having some ridiculously talented teams.
  3. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Feb 12, 2006 -> 09:42 PM) Just think, next year Ohio State is going to be even better. Not going to be easy to defeat a club with perhaps two of the nations best players in Oden/Conley complimenting a squad where majority are returning next year. Don't they lose Dials, Sullinger, Foster, and Sylvester? Ohio St. will be good next year, but there's other teams out there that potentially will have better talent.
  4. BTW, I know this is old news, but Kerr saying "that's in" basically before Okur shot that 3 last game to win it was one of the funniest things I've ever heard during a sports game.
  5. QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Feb 9, 2006 -> 05:22 AM) He is. He falls apart in the 4th in close games. At least Skiles is smart enough to keep the ball in the hands of Ben Gordon, who is clutch. (I don't believe in using green for sarcasm, but this wasn't almost my first time).
  6. I'm convinced Hinrich's the least clutch player in the history of basketball.
  7. QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 04:20 PM) In hindsight, that was probably one of the best things to happen because Hermanson took over the closing duties soon after and went on a tear. Very true, as well as how it was a blessing that PK totally choked on that liner down the line in the Twins game, which caused the game to go into extra innings. Jenks eventually got the save in the 10th inning, and it paved the way for him to make such a huge impact.
  8. Shingo vs the Indians in Game 3 of the season. Oh sorry, wrong thread.
  9. Everyone knows I'm not the biggest Ozzie fan, but I was very impressed with him during the interview last night. Nothing he said was really "stupid", and you can tell he has a passion for managing. Also dropping the F bomb regarding the talent that Phil had with the Bulls was high comedy.
  10. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 8, 2006 -> 01:08 AM) I hope he signs with Boston, would just prove what we knew all along, his "I want to go back to Texas to play and be with my kids" s*** was just that, a bunch of s***. What a loser, I can't wait to b**** slap him when we see him pitching for whatever team he ends up with. Don't forget the Astros also wasted a draft pick on his son in an effort to please him.
  11. I still that the Jenks in the entire postseason was PHENOMENAL. He was a good throw by Pods away from being the WS MVP. Think about the tough saves he had to get in the postseason.....the two inning save in Game 2 vs Boston, Game 3 vs Boston where he couldn't allow a runner on base with Ortiz coming up, the Game 1 of the WS masterpiece, pitching in the extras in Game 3 of the WS, and then the clutch Game 4 of the WS save. Not bad for our top prospect, huh?
  12. QUOTE(SnB @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 10:17 PM) Illiniboard is full of pricks and cubbie like crazy optimistics. I stopped reading it when one day they complained about assembly hall being too quiet, then the next week they complained about krush jumping up and down and screaming. The thing I can't stand is that they think refs are totally out to get them. Every game, win or lose, there's 20 threads b****ing about the refs. And then, if another team's site complains about the refs in the game, they'll state how much those teams are whining. There are always ticky-tack fouls and questionable calls during a game. Sometimes, you just need to make sure you outscore the opposition.
  13. QUOTE(SnB @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 10:13 PM) he's very good at everything but shooting? ...ok He's a pretty good defender, that's about it. See, that was what I was talking about. Someone who is very good at everything but shooting would be Julian Wright. To say Frazier is "VERY" good is a gross exaggeration in my eyes. However, I do appreciate the talk about things like this, as you can never get a legit conversation on the illiniboard.
  14. The thing with Augustine is that he's never developed range on his shot. As a matter of fact, he was a better outside shooter as a freshman than he is now. If Augie makes the NBA, he should send his entire check to Dee and Deron. Augie gets so many easy layups during a game. And speaking of the Illini, am I the only one who doesn't understand the Frazier love? Many Illini fans think he's this great future player, but basically all I see is a WNBA look-a-like who dribbles the ball up the court, and then just passes to a wing player. If he's the Illini starter at point guard during his career, they're going to be a mid-level Big 10 team.
  15. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 09:59 PM) The missing link for this years Illini team is ball movement. Nobody on this team can pass other than Dee and Chester (whose passing is offset by the fact he can't shoot). Exactly, and one thing Julian does an amazing job at is moving the ball. He can't shoot at all (but then again, neither can Randle).
  16. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 09:54 PM) :rolly You didn't hit a shot at the horn that appeared to win the game. And Julian Wright is still having a s*** year, but he's going to develop into a solid ballplayer. s*** year for Julian? He's a freshman playing a new position, and he's shown enough to earn playing time and start for a talented Kansas team. He's never going to be a big scorer, but he does a lot to help his team during a game. If you ask me, he's the missing link on the Illini team this year. He'd easily be the best interior passer they'd have, and would possibly force the offense to not just sit around a fire up three pointers the whole game.
  17. QUOTE(SnB @ Feb 5, 2006 -> 04:58 PM) I know there are those people out there, but honestly...I don't know any. Every good illini fan I know, doesn't think too highly of augy. He has(d) the potential to be a force on the inside, but was never aggressive enough. If you go on the illiniboard after any good performance by Augie, you'll see numerous threads stating how he should be a lottery pick. The same thing happened with Randle after the Wisconsin game. Randle is another guy that won't sniff a second in the NBA until he can shoot outside of 5 feet or play 5 minutes without fouling someone.
  18. A couple of comments about Big 10 play from yesterday: - I never thought I'd say this, but Steve Alford is far and away doing the best job of coaching in the conference. Iowa is playing under control, and their system gets the best out of their 5 core guys. - I still get a laugh when Illini fans think James Augustine is going to be a first round pick. There's not much of a market for power forwards who can't shoot from outside 5 feet, can't create their own shot, and still haven't learned to play defense without fouling. - Bruce Weber.....you play to win the game! I couldn't believe how passive the Illini were last night in the final 10 minutes. Penn St. could have won by more if they didn't miss 3 layups in the last 4 minutes. - Wisconsin sucks. They're a 2 person team, and even those guys are ball hogs. - Ohio St. is the best all-around team in the conference. Je'kel Foster might be the most underrated player in the country (along with Tyrus Thomas, Darrel Mitchell, and Joakim Noah).
  19. Trust me, I don't want the Sox to have the philosophy that if a player's not going to re-sign, then they need to get rid of them. I'd much rather they just go for it all this season again, and if Contreras leaves after this year, then McCarthy's ready to start next season.
  20. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Feb 4, 2006 -> 04:14 PM) He didn't do that for Konerko. And I don't think he was any less interested than Contreras. Contreras just wants to get paid what he's worth, just like Paulie, and KW probably won't offer up to that until after the season because he already has at least 5 locked up. If Contreras has a good, not even great season, there's no chance the Sox are going to be able to bring him back. When you also consider that we don't get any draft picks if he leaves, then that adds to the possibility that Contreras might get dealt in the next month. And I also think I'm going to puke the next time someone suggests we'll trade him at the deadline. The only way that happens is if the Sox are 20 games out of the standings (even then, I don't think KW/Ozzie would give up).
  21. KW might not need to trade Contreras, but he's made it pretty obvious that if a player isn't interested in signing an extension with the White Sox, then he's going to do his best to get value for that player before they leave via free agency.
  22. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Feb 4, 2006 -> 03:56 PM) I have no doubt Philly would do that deal. Especially if GIllick wnats to try and win this year. I also have no doubt that KW wouldn't. Am I the only one who thinks that the White Sox would be the team who's easily getting the best end of this deal? Personally, I don't think there's a chance in hell that Philly will make this deal.
  23. Wow, I wouldn't trade Brandon Wood straight up for Manny.
  24. I haven't chimed in too much during these Abreu trade rumor threads, but I was wondering if there's been any actual new rumors regarding this possible trade in the last few days? Or, are we just going off of the initial report. BTW, I agree with Jphat....there's not a chance in hell this trade takes place. I can't see the Phillies doing it.
  25. AJP might have been on the Smackdown taping tonight. There's rumors it will lead to a bigger spot at WrestleMania, which is in Chicago this year.
