Game Thread - 04/13 Garland vs. Verlander
This is pathetic by Garland right now. He's keeping the Tigers in this game. Ozzie needs to have a quick hook with him right now. Another base runner or two, and he should be pulled.

Man, do our 9/1 hitters ever suck!

Game Thread - 04/13 Garland vs. Verlander
I know most aren't too optimistic about today's game, even though Garland pitched great vs the Tigers last year. I don't know how long we can keep winning games though with our 9/1 hitters doing nothing.

QUOTE(Dan @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 07:49 PM) give the kid some time and let him work his way into the season with coop at his side. There's only so much Coop can do if Colonel Sanders is on the other side of Jenks.

AND THAT'S A WHITE SOX WINNER!!!!!!!
QUOTE(JimH @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 07:49 PM) Released, not with the Tigers any more. Yeah, I know. It's a long-running inside joke after I made a completely baseless prediction last year that Pena would be our 1B this season. Rarely a week goes by where either Greasy or Rowand don't mock me for that statement.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 07:47 PM) How bout some love for Jose too. He was awesome. Made one of the better hitting teams so far look foolish! I don't understand the lack of lefties in the Tigers lineup against Jose. Where's my man Carlos Pena!!!

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 07:44 PM) At least Iguchi's getting on. 2nd best OBP on the team. He looks really good at the plate. Yeah, he looks confident and is taking pitches nicely.

With Jenks, I'm very happy to see him come right back after allowing the 2 run homer, and putting Infante away quickly. If that was Koch, he would have given up the homer, and then walked the next batter on 4 pitches.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 07:35 PM) Last year April was a suckfest for closers, off the top of my head I know that Lidge and Chad Cordero have already had some issues this year. Bobby might not be pitching great right now but he's getting the job done when he has to. We won....end of story. It's just too bad we can't get people on base for Thome.

I didn't see Jenks pitch today, but his Monday performance against the Tigers was as dominant a performance we've seen from him (outside of Game 1 of the WS). Jenks is never going to have pinpoint control. And yes, he's going to blow his fair share of games. However, he's rebounded quite well as of now from his awful Spring Training, in my opinion. Now, we have got to get our 9/1 hitters going in our lineup. That should be our biggest concern.

I'm not too concerned about Jenks. I'd rather he give up a 2 run homer with a 3 run lead instead of walking Shelton, and bringing the tying run up to bat. This will be hypocritical of me to say, but I see no reason for complaining after this game. We won, Contreras dominated without striking out a lot of guys, and Thome is amazing. BTW...good job Ozzie handling the bullpen.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 07:20 PM) Rowand has an Error already too, so they are even. I'm not defending Rowand, but his was because he totally lost a fly ball in the sun.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 07:15 PM) Rowand used to do the same thing with regularity. Especially with Jenks on the mound.

One thing I've noticed about Anderson is that he's on top of every pitch. A pitcher with a good sinker will just pound the ball below his bat level. He needs to become a little more flexible at the plate, so he can go down and reach those low pitches.

White Sox vs. Tigers 12:05 p.m. CT
This is a big inning for Contreras to get us back in the dugout. Was that an 0-2 pitch Monroe hit out? If so, I hope it was the forkball.

What did Anderson do to get the 3rd out?

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 06:13 PM) There you go fathom, now it's 3-0. The thing is, I thought he was 100 pct honest. PBP's are always interesting to follow. I remember there were times last year where people would say "f***".... and the only thing that had happened was that someone threw a first pitch ball to a good hitter on the opposition, etc. Thanks all for the PBP....even you jphat.

QUOTE(SSH2005 @ Apr 12, 2006 -> 06:09 PM) Okay, let me reprase... Our team offense as a whole has been pretty terrible so far. It's not terrible....just a lot of bad luck Outside of Pods and Anderson though, I'm satisfied with how all of our starters have swung the bat.

Anyone who doesn't like Boers and Bernstein must take things too seriously. They're an extremely entertaining duo, and Bernstein is probably the smartest guy on sports radio in Chicago.
