QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 10:37 PM) What will Mariotti write tomorrow? He'll talk about the Curry trade.

Koskie for Morneau Deal
QUOTE(juddling @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 10:36 PM) If the Sox were to let Konerko go after this year for whatever reason....i would love to see them make some sort of move for Morneau. I think the kid is going to be a huge stud in another year or two. Due to fantasy baseball considerations this year i followed him pretty closely and would love to see him on the south side. Twins would never trade him within the division. I thought Morneau was going to be a star this season, but he never put it all together.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 10:25 PM) Side note as I haven't see this posted yet or heard it on tv, Jake Peavy is done for the year with a broken rib I think he's done for the year cause Padres won't win enough games for him to pitch again.

Good call on the Pods/Lance Johnson comparison.

Boston @ Chicago - ALDS Game 1
QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 10:19 PM) this game is slooooow. I feel like we need to run the ball and run out the clock As long as we're winning by 6 or more runs, it can take as long as it wants. It's not every day that we can enjoy a big playoff lead.

Could you imagine if Wells and Buehrle pitched with this same home plate umpire tomorrow? It could have been Maddux/Livan all over again.

Boston @ Chicago - ALDS Game 1
QUOTE(robinventura23 @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 09:45 PM) Not THE reason. If he gets Cameron out there, and the Sox win that first game, you never know what happens the rest of the series.

Chris Young rated 4th best in SL
QUOTE(danman31 @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 05:39 PM) I was a bit surprised to see Jenks so low. I understand that he didn't pitch as well in AA as he has in the bigs ERA wise, but talent wise he's got to be at the top of the pitchers. That also shows the depth of the league that a guy who is looking like a solid closer very soon is only the 13th bets prospect in the league. The top 20 top to bottom is absolutely loaded. Young at 4 shows me how much BA and company are jumping on his bandwagon this year. I have a very good "source" at BA, and their biggest concern with Jenks is his "make-up". They don't feel like he'll be able to pitch more than 3 or 4 years in the majors with his current physique and mentality. They love his stuff, but don't project him as having it for a very long time. They do love Chris Young though.

Boston @ Chicago - ALDS Game 1
I'm staying out of this thread as much as possible, but Crede just made a fantastic play on that throw. Varitek was going to beat that play out at first easily on the bunt. Crede looks nervous out there, but he's not the goat.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 07:25 PM) Dude who the hell cares if you post in game threads or not? I don't see why you shouldn't. Because I'd honestly rather just enjoy the games. I love the game threads, but it often times prevents me from just enjoying the games.

Since I'm not posting during the games, I just want to say good luck White Sox. I hope my fellow White Sox fans enjoy this!

Boston @ Chicago - ALDS Game 1
I'm strangely calm for this game. I think I was a lot more nervous for the Indians series two weeks ago.
- Guess who's throwing out the first pitch?

Aaron Rowand's Playoff Journal
Every line in Rowand's journal should read: Don't swing at Clement's slider low and away.

QUOTE(Punch and Judy Garland @ Oct 4, 2005 -> 01:19 AM) Tomorrow sets the tone and lets us know if Contreras is a mirage or the real deal. No matter what happens tomorrow, Contreras proved to me he was legit this season. He'd be an ace on at least half the teams in baseball.

99-63, 2nd best team in Sox history
All I wanted this season was the team to make the playoffs. They accomplished that, so no matter what happens the rest of the way, it was a fantastic season!

Jenks is warming up for the 9th. I HATE using him for the 4th game in a row.

El Duque Odd Man Out
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 04:59 PM) Let's leave off Cotts. I'm sure Ozzie would be in favor of that one Jphat would agree with that.

El Duque Odd Man Out
QUOTE(Antonio Osuna @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 04:07 PM) See, the point is not to bring in somebody who will hit Anderson and give up a longball to Finley, but rather to bring in somebody who can get them out. El Duque was good out of the bullpen yesterday. I hope that was a successful audition for the playoff roster. Did I miss something? Since when has Duque become the greatest reliever in history? Yes, Marte has had a lot of struggles this season. However, Duque is the same pitcher who's allowed like a .500 OBP to lefties over the last 2 months. It's not just that Marte has a better chance against lefties to get them out. Some lefty batters are just a hell of a lot worse against lefty pitchers, as it takes away all their power. If the choice was between Marte and Duque....that's an easy one.
-
El Duque Odd Man Out
Marte is potentially a lot more valuable for the Sox than Duque would be in the playoffs. Against a team like the Angels, Marte could come in to face guys like Anderson and Finley. Do we really want Duque pitching in a tight spot? I thought Marte actually looked real sharp last night.

AND THATS A KNIGHTS WINNER!!!!!!!!&
QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 03:27 AM) We have won inspite of Ozzie this year. Im sorry but it had to be said. He doesn't know how to manage a pitching staff. Marte should never of been out there. Marte is fine to pitch against the likes of Sizemore and Crisp. However, Hafner and VMart have owned him this season.

GREAT WIN! Now, tomorrow is absolutely a care free game! I'm just grateful that Belliard hasn't hit a homer in the last two weeks when he had the opportunity to beat the Sox.

QUOTE(Elcaballo45 @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 03:14 AM) I committed a mortal sin tonight, I was actually rooting for a team that I hate with all my soul. For some reason, I want to see the Phillies in... ME TOO! I like the Phillies.

9-30 Game Thread - Charlotte @ Cleveland
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 1, 2005 -> 03:14 AM) I'm with you here fathom, we win tonight and we really have nothing to play for. We've tried a lot harder to win this game, in terms of pitchers used, than I thought we would. Now, we have the lead....JUST WIN IT!
