White Sox vs. Twins 09/18/05
Question: How does KW and Ozzie justify trading power for a leadoff hitter after the season when our offense was significantly worse?

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 07:51 PM) The worst offense in the majors under display. Glad to see that Pods was the electric starter we needed to ignite our offense. I am glad that August was just a figment of my imagination. This offense is terrible. Its Kyle f***ing Lohse. They are going to replace him next year because he sucks, with the Liriano guy they just brought up. 2 hits and 1 run off of baker. We score 1 run in the 10 after loading the bases with no outs. 0 runs and 16 strikeouts yesterday 1 run on a few hits today. Don't forget 2 runs in 6 innings on Thursday against a guy with a 4-16 record and an ERA about 6.

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 07:51 PM) Why can't they just admit there choking and get it over with It's official, we need to start a running thread with all of Hawk's great quotes over the remainder of the season. Since a possible collapse is the things we'll tell our grandchildren about, why not have a collection of quotes. Think of it as a time capsule.

To me, this season got comical when we lost 7 games in a row because we couldn't score a single run, and our beloved announcer kept saying "Where would he play"?

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 07:48 PM) OH i know. Just saying it coulda been worse. He coulda sucked in 2 ways. I'm reaching for anything at this point. Haha, at least you can admit it!

Haha, Hawk's complaining about pitches right down the plate! This might get comical.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 07:47 PM) Blum has had 2 pretty good picks at least. Least he's not blowing in the field too. Yeah, but sadly, what this team needs is offensive help. It's not like he's in the game for defensive reasons when you have Crede on your team.

QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 07:45 PM) honestly, monday-wednesday is round 1 of the playoffs. We haven't had a big series like this since the one against the twins in sept of 03. So you're saying we're f***ed?

Another amazing AB by Blum. Why not let Timo ph for him, and put Crede in for defensive reasons?

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 07:43 PM) HE GONE!!!! Come on, Sox, one run. This game is huge, especially if Batista can hold the Yanks scoreless in the ninth... I like seeing someone else with the perception that the Yankees results are just as important as the Indians results now. The Yanks have won a few games this week where I really thought they were going to lose the game.

QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 07:41 PM) excitement as in, every inning means something big for this team, etc. I know, I'm just giving you a hard time. In theory, every game should matter. However, when I see things like Ozzie tipping his cap to Santana, it makes me feel like there's no sense of urgency.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 07:40 PM) Schoeny gets out of a big spot in the 8th. 5-4 Jays. He's rebounded to have a solid season. He started off awful.

QUOTE(SnB @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 07:40 PM) yes, it's still excitment, good or bad. Excitement? I've been to circumcisions that were more entertaining.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 07:39 PM) Yeah, Vasher just got his second pick of the game. It would be his 4th of the year if it wasn't for Mike Green. Haha, great answer. Go back and look earlier in this thread when I asked if you would have ever imagined having more fun watching the Bears play today than a stretch run game vs the Twins?

I have a serious question, and please don't bash me for asking this: Is this even fun for anyone to watch now?

QUOTE(downstairs @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 07:36 PM) I don't disagree with the move. I was just poking fun at the comment that he's pitching like a Cy Young candidate. I was being sarcastic, because that's the type of move that Ozzie would never make.

This offense continues to shine down the stretch!

QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) Yeah I realize that. Just I'm watching on yahoo game center, and it said Tyner walked, so I got pissed at Contreras. Also considering I'm going on 4 hrs of sleep...and this f***ing offense...FUCCCKKK If they would just win i wouldnt b**** for awhile He didn't walk Tyner!

QUOTE(downstairs @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 07:33 PM) Wow... they took a Cy Young candidate out in a 1-1 tie in the 6th? Yeah, it's an amazing concept. Taking out your starting pitcher before they get in trouble that inning, instead of letting them put two runners on base.

Gardenhire is treating this like a playoff game taking out Lohse already. What a disaster that we could only score one run against him.

QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 07:31 PM) Kudos to ya. I just hope the Sox win so I can stop b****ing about random s***, it's really affecting my mental health... There's no one on this board who likes to b**** about random s*** more than myself. However, Contreras is the absolute last person to complain about right now. I could think of about 30 people in the Sox organization who could be blamed about before I'd even think of blaming Contreras.

QUOTE(CWSOX45 @ Sep 18, 2005 -> 07:29 PM) All I'm saying is that Contreras has a tendency to walk lead-off guys after getting a lead. He's been doing it all year. He always gives up the "dreaded lead-off" walk. Earlier this season when he did that they usually scored, but as late he's been pretty good of stranding baserunners. Contreras is never going to have great control. At least he's able to prevent the other time from getting a lot of hits. It's a lot worse when the guy has no control and no ability to get hitters out.....like El Duque now!
