Sox @ Houston - World Series Game 4
We have quite a few guys who struggle mightily against the outside slider/curve by a righty. I haven't seen any effort by guys like Rowand to stay on the pitch and take it to RF.

Tough inning approaching for Garcia. That should have been a strike.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 01:49 AM) Well. they took some pitches! yay! And both PK and AJP had meatballs to hit that they just were way out in front of. Ozzie needs to get in their face and tell them to all stop trying to hit "the homer", and maintain a solid swing.

Rowand looks like a freaking pitcher at the plate. How do you not know a slider is coming there? 2 sliders, followed by an inside fastball....doesn't take a genius to realize what was coming next.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 01:45 AM) Backe has our guys way out in front. We're homer happy!

Backe definitely goes with the offspeed stuff with 2 strikes.

We're letting Backe get away with some meatballs.

PK look a little off-balanced to anyone else? He's a little quick on everything, and opening up too soon because of it.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 01:34 AM) I'll actually agree with him there. It seems as if Iguchi is a big funk. His patience at the plate doesn't look so hot and he really isn't doing much. Yes he had that nice RBI yesterday, but other than that, he's been pretty bad. I'd say his and Willie's defense are on par with each other's as well(pretty good). I was on the play Willie bandwagon a few days ago, but we know it's not going to happen, so there's not much use in arguing about it.

Good play by Crede. This is the inning where it would be nice to get a few early base runners. I'm still waiting for PK to sit on an offspeed pitch, and just launch it out to LF.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 01:30 AM) Let them do there thing, I think they know what they're doing out there considering they've lost all of 1 game in the postseason. Hard to argue against that.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 01:30 AM) Their bullpen is much, much better than Brandon Backe. That's if you're assuming they're all ready to go tonight.

QUOTE(BigEdWalsh @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 01:27 AM) Gooch, that was A-Row-like. Safe to say those are our two weakest links, by far, in our offense right now.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 01:28 AM) Are you in a hurry to get to their bullpen? No, but when I see Backe putting great pitches to hit the longer we wait, it makes me wonder why we're being so aggressive.

TAKE SOME f***ING PITCHES!

Risky decision by Pods there. Not a very smart move, but at least it worked. Backe is definitely hittable if we stay patient.

Sox @ Houston - World Series Game 4
We gotta take some pitches. After doing a great job in the first inning, the last 5 outs have been way too quick in regards to pitches.

Sox @ Houston - World Series Game 4
Guys are a little homer happy tonight. As we talked about in the 5th game of the Angels series, players often get a little anxious to try and put big numbers up on the board.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 01:19 AM) Miguel did that a lot against right handed pitchers. He'd make a great 2nd string catcher who faces lefty pitchers.

QUOTE(qwerty @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 01:17 AM) He use to be a position player in the devil rays orginization. Does anyone else remember Olivo having just an awful, awful AB against Backe when he was on Tampa? He had the bases loaded, and swung at 3 straight sliders about 2 feet off the plate.

BTW, Backe is a pretty strong hitter, if I recall correctly from watching many Cubs/Astros games.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 01:10 AM) Right now, Backe looks better than I thought he would. I was expecting him to crap his pants as this was supposed to be the easiest game for the sox. Guess not. The Sox match-up better vs Clemens than they do Backe. Backe has that slider which our righties struggle against.

Stick with the change-ups to lefties Freddy!

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Oct 27, 2005 -> 01:08 AM) Whoever puts up a crooked # 1st is going to win tonite. I think the first team to hit two homers will win. And of course, before some smartass chimes in, the team that scores the most will win.

Both PK and Crede have had pitches in their wheel house that they fouled off.
