Bears vs. Redskins 9/11 Game Thread
fathom replied to White Sox Josh's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I'm just relaying directly what I heard from a major NFL agent about those guys. Young has a very bad release, and NFL scouts think he might end up being made a WR in the NFL. It's funny, but the name I've heard Leinart compared to is Rex Grossman. I actually like Leinart though, and would take him this second over Kyle Orton. -
QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 01:06 AM) I'll feel a lot more comfortable about the situation as a whole if McCarthy is put in a rotation. And this coming from an El Duque fan. He needs to be put in the rotation. Uribe NEEDS to be put lower in the order. Don't you mean up in the order for Uribe? I'm still not sure why in the world we'd put Rowand in the 3rd spot against righties. At this point, the whole offense is just in a state of disarray.

Vince Young is not an NFL QB. Leinart is not very highly regarded among all NFL scouts, as some think he's a product of the USC offense. -
QUOTE(3E8 @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 01:02 AM) Yes it does. We still have a dominating starting rotation and solid bullpen. Outside of a few stretches in this 2nd half, our starting rotation hasn't been dominating.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 12:56 AM) And the Sox are playing .500 since August and the Indians have been very good. What the f*** is your point? They still aren't in the lead, and still do not have control of the AL Central let alone the AL Wild card. Sheesh, my ignore lists grows more and more everyday with these obnoxious pessimists whom would rather be correct than see the Sox win. Yeah, we're all on here just praying that the Sox lose and don't make the playoffs. The LONE point I was trying to make about the .500 comment is that nothing is guaranteed in sports. Everyone was saying things like "there's no way the Indians stay hot and keep playing at such a high rate". And since there's no personal attacks on this board now, all I'll say is that the only thing worse than an obnoxious pessimist is someone that takes our their frustrations about the Sox on posters who say things they don't want to hear (an no, this wasn't directed as you Santo). It surely is amazing how some people just seem to vanish from here when the Sox struggle, and then come back on the site when they're winning and say "how dare you doubt the greatest team ever".
-
10-0 Indians in the 2nd inning. So......what's the Wild Card looking like?
-
But if the Sox go .500 the rest of the year, the Indians would have to be really good....right? It's amazing that many of the same people who were saying things like that a month ago are now awfully quiet.
-
I thought I was told not to worry, the Indians would cool off? They've now won 19 of their last 22 games.
-
I'll flat out say it: The Indians are a better club than the White Sox. The pitching is pretty even overall, but their hitting is much better than the Sox. I can't believe the Sox were ever like 15 games better than them this season. Bash me if you want, but if I was a neutral baseball fan, I'd definitely think the Indians were better.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 12:36 AM) Like I said, there will be an increase in payroll. We've agreed to disagree on this. Don't think this last week of awful attendance didn't give JR every excuse possible to not raise payroll this offseason.
-
If we don't make the playoffs, you're not going to see an increase in payroll.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 12:29 AM) Told most of you guys that we shouldn't be making stupidass elimination threads, especially prematurely. Now it's going to look so f***ing stupid. Respect all teams until they're mathematically out of it. Something lots of Sox fans on here didn't do. You're preaching to the choir on this one. I've been laughed at all season cause I said the Sox hadn't clinched anything yet.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 12:28 AM) Cleveland has 67 less stolen bases then we have. How the hell are they scoring runs without that balance that the Sox have? Hawk tells me we have a lot of balance. Isn't balance good? Because they have an extremely productive leadoff hitter, hit a ton of doubles and triples, and have depth up and down their lineup. It must be nice to have a leadoff hitter that can actually produce runs, a manager that doesn't play for one run in the first inning of a game, and a team that has the ability to comeback from a deficit.
-
Isn't it amazing what a team that senses they're in a pennant race can do for their energy?

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 12:20 AM) No. Thomas Jones is mediocre, and no team will win anything with him at RB, unless Peyton Manning is behind center. Having Mike Williams today would have meant nothing. If we're talking about players that the only way their team would win anything is because of them, then there's only one skill position player, Moose, that would start for a Super Bowl team. If Thomas Jones is mediocre, I don't want to know what Justin Gage is. Jerry Angelo better be fired after this season. To draft a RB after making Jones your key FA signing in ridiculous. -
Indians are up 4-0 in the first. ICEBERG, STRAIGHT AHEAD!
-
2-0 Indians are winning. There's absolutely no comparison between the White Sox and Indians right now. Get this....the Indians actually look like they're having fun on the field.
-
Sizemore with a leadoff triple to start the bottom of the 1st. That's one more triple than Pods has had all season. Crisp than doubles on the next pitch, and Indians lead 1-0. WE'RE f***ED!

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Sep 12, 2005 -> 12:17 AM) If I were to trade for a 3rd baseman, I'd take a chance and talk to Seattle about taking on Beltre and the remainder of his contract. I don't know if Seattle wants to shift their focus from two big boppers or not (it would be early for them to give up on it). However, Beltre is a really good offensive player and a stud defensive player as well. He's the person that I keep thinking would really be a good fit. However, there's a lot of money involved with him, and I'm not so sure the Mariners would give up on him. Would they consider trading him and a lot of money for Iguchi? It's easier to find a quality 2nd baseman than it is a stud 3b.
-
Helton's not an option. He has a mammoth contract, and the Rockies have said they won't pick up any money in any Helton deal.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Sep 11, 2005 -> 11:16 PM) Yeah, 'cause having Mike Williams on the field today really would've ensured us a victory. I mean, Thomas Jones is probably one of the best halfbacks in the league, right? :rolly GMAB. I can see you ripping on the decision to draft Benson rather then Cadillac, but Jones isn't an elite back. We need an elite back to win. I fully expect to see a lot more carries -- ten plus -- from Benson next week. Thomas Jones is a lot more productive at his position than any 2nd WR the Bears have. Any RB in the Bears system is going to produce about the same. As long as the opposition can stuff the box, no RB on this planet will have extremely productive games. -
Well, the Cubs are now 5.5 games back in the Wild Card, so they'll be the major focus of the Chicago media the rest of the way.
-
This piggyback idea is absolutely stupid. Why change things now? If Duque is no longer good enough to start a game and not just implode after a certain number of pitches, then he shouldn't be starting!
-
According to another post, Ozzie said Duque will make his next start.
