QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 03:38 AM) While it obviously works both ways, depending on your glass half full/half empty take, would it be good or bad to meet the Indians in the playoffs? While we have seen there pitchers alot this season, they have seen ours just as often. Would you rather see someone that you have already seen 19 times, or only 6? I'd rather face the Yankees. Indians hitting is ending up to be just as good as the Yankees, and the top Indians pitchers do very well against the Sox (C.C. and Millwood). Not only that, but in a long series, the Indians have a lot more bullpen depth. And no, I WON'T SAY "GO INDIANS"! We're still in a pennant race.

I think the Indians are the best team in the AL out of all the wild card teams. However, the bigger their lead in the WC, the bigger the Sox lead is in terms of making the playoffs.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 03:10 AM) If you've posted it in the game threads, I miss it. I never read 'em... I haven't seen you write it elsewhere... I just went searching in the top of the 9th. I couldn't remember the last time we were down by a run and I actually felt like we could come back, so I dug through the box scores. JP Howell threw absolute garbage tonight. Disgusting loss. Yeah, that stat was my battle cry all of August saying we needed offensive help. I think the thread was entitled "Disturbing stat". Good research though, and it is very disturbing.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 03:05 AM) JP Howell follows the path of Douglass in dominating our club with an arsenal of junk. Hawk even pointed out he dominated our team with two mediocre pitches. You can't even suggest his command was superb because he walked 5 batters. Next week, I expect 4 runs off this t-ball stand. It sickens me to watch these games such as tonight and wonder how the hell he managed to pitch well against our club. A good center fielder and we probably don't score at all.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 03:05 AM) But if you want to jump off here's a starting point..... The White Sox have not come back from a deficit of more than 1 run to win a game since July 30th. -- I'm not talking about 2 runs with one inning to play either. No, if you've gotten the White Sox down by two runs at any point in the game in the last six weeks, you have yourself a victory. JULY 30TH!!!! You're stealing my stat!!!! The last comeback was that Orioles Saturday game when AJP hit the 8th inning homer.

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:58 AM) Their gone in the 9th like a sloth in the night We're not a very good late inning hitting team in close games since the ASB. Thankfully, we've been able to jump ahead to early leads (and then barely hang on).

8.5 game lead. I'll take 2 out of 3 any series, but it would have been nice to see some life in the offense the last two games.
-
We'll be facing Howell next week. Hopefully he'll be too busy thinking about his HOF speech that he'll struggle.
-
All 2 thousand people at the game sure do seem to be trying to pump up our offense.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:54 AM) This would suck, if we hadn't just won 7 in a row. But we just won 7 in a row. I completely agree. It's just so frustrating that the Indians are still within distance of the Sox after this great stretch.
-
Hamstring problem for Widger. That's got to be painful for a catcher.
-
This is so so so ugly tonight. The offense, outside of a few plays, seems completely lifeless.
-
I'm sure Macdougal will look unhittable, even though the Indians were able to light him up a few weeks back.
-
jphat....start saying everyone sucks this inning. We need you!

QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:47 AM) Last I checked these guys are being paid millions of dollars to play a game. I don't think it is their right to be pissed off about attendance with the costs of going to games for families these days. Well, they sure seemed to be annoyed with it last night.
-
Good play by PK there. This crowd is dead silent though. If the place isn't louder tomorrow, I could see why the players would be pissed.

QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:42 AM) Well he relys on his deception of his fb and gets a lot of K's, isn't that considered finesse or do I have it confused?? Sid Fernandez was considered a power pitcher, even though he didn't throw very hard.
-
QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:40 AM) Finesse is more like it. I disagree. He relies on his high fastball to get hitters out. A finesse pitcher, in my opinion, is someone who tries to hit the corners with their pitches and relies on location instead of stuff. Cotts doesn't strike me as the type who tries to hit the corners.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:40 AM) I'd love to at least see Dye moved to the three slot. THere is no reason for Rowand and Everett to be hitting in front of Dye right now. Either that or move PK to the three hole and Dye to cleanup. The funny thing is we can all argue about this stuff 24/7...and you have to be nuts to think Ozzie will change things.

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:38 AM) I like the looks of that Anderson kid, but he's had only one good game since being called up. I would like to see Borchard replace Everett and get a look at Joe for awhile. See what he has learned. We face a lefty tomorrow in Washburn. Anderson should get the start in LF, and sit Everett while allowing Pods to DH. The problem with Everett is that he's not contributing anything if he's not homering now.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:37 AM) Good thing I have my Royals mlb.tv feed. Neal Cotts is a power pitcher and Iguchi pulls all his HR's according to them. Isn't Cotts a power pitcher?

QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:37 AM) Dye Uribe Borchard in the 9th? AJP. And you must have been on another planet to not know who would get the ph call before Borchard.

Rowand grounded out to first.

QUOTE(Tadahito15 @ Sep 9, 2005 -> 02:35 AM) The Dodgers game sometime back in June? So you're saying there's a chance?
