  1. I think if Contreras allows one runner, you have to pull him because of the likelihood of a successful stolen base.
  2. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 01:57 AM) Clutch! Contreras has made some very good pitches in critical situations tonight.
  3. Great pitch there! Will Ozzie pull Contreras, or will he let him continue? It's a tough call.
  4. Whew, two straight cookies. Make a good pitch Jose!
  5. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 01:54 AM) What a great job of pitching by Jose. That AB tells a lot. In the past Jose would have walked Blanco after the AB he had, and it woulda been bad with Sweeney on deck. Now he stays aggressive and gets him out. Couldn't agree more. It's similar to what Cotts has done all season.
  6. Sweeney kills us in these situations.
  7. Wow, good job Hawk! Does this mean Sweeney is homering now? Is it the jinx?
  8. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 01:48 AM) No its not. Uribe swung at the first pitch the time before and got a triple. Almost a HR. Just not getting the right hits at the right spots tonight. It happens. Against Wood, you want to avoid his sinker. After a leadoff walk, the pitcher will usually come back with a first pitch fastball (sinker in Wood's case). Uribe belted that triple on a hanging curve. I agree though, we're just hitting the ball to the wrong part of the field. We're still taking a lot better swings than we were a few weeks ago.
  9. QUOTE(Reddy @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 01:48 AM) good inning guys... AUGUST IS BACK Willie is trying to muscle up and swing for the fences. My only complaint about having Harris, Pods, and Ozuna batting consecutively is that none of them can be relied on to drive in runs.
  10. QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 01:47 AM) Another DP. Give me a f***ing break. Against a sinker baller, our aggressive swings are resulting in numerous ground outs.
  11. The pitcher walks the leadoff hitter, and Uribe swings at the next pitch? That's bad baseball.
  12. QUOTE(kevin57 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 01:44 AM) Just got back from my jog... 1-0 Contreras must be awesome...again. Is K.C. pitching that well, or are we back in "August" mode of offense? Blown opportunity after blown opportunity for both teams tonight. Sox have left two guys on base in almost every inning it seems.
  13. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 01:44 AM) I would go to the bp next inning w/ the top of the ordercoming up again You know Ozzie won't, so there's no reason to even argue about it.
  14. QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 01:43 AM) That was Contreras' best inning. Ozzie better watch it though. The 7th inning seems to be a big trouble spot for the Count. They have the top of the order up next inning.
  15. Ugh...this is pathetic! The base running has just been brutal lately. We send Widger with no outs, yet we don't tag on a fly ball caught to make there be two outs?
  16. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 01:36 AM) That's why i thought the squeeze may have been a good idea You need to be able to count on your number 5 hitter to drive home the run.
  17. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 01:36 AM) terrible ABs for Aaron tonight Terrible execution all around on offense.
  18. Why wasn't Everett tagging there? Once you see the outfielder dive, you should be going home! Second time we've done that in about 10 games.
  19. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 01:32 AM) Squeeze?? Nah
  20. Whew...that was a good pitch. Rowand has got to avoid chopping the ball to the left side of the infield with this tough sinker.
  21. KC should walk PK here to set up the double play.
  22. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 01:27 AM) So in 5 innings, Jose has given up 7 hits, 3 walks, a hit by pitch, a wild pitch, and an error. This is one of the ugliest 5 inning shut-outs I've ever seen. So you mean Ozzie will let him go the entire game?
