  1. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 03:12 PM) He immortalized himself as a Sox trivia answer with the 504' blast. And, yeah, you'd think 5.3 million would have got us a little more. At least he's dedicated himself to baseball and made the effort we put into developing him worth it (unlike Henson). Also, is it Borchard's fault that KW refused to trade him?
  2. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 03:08 PM) Watching Chad Hutchison and Drew Henson, and what they've done today, he's probably glad he didn't. I agree with that, especially as I was never very impressed with his QB skills at Stanford. I was just pointing out that to make a reference to him stealing money wasn't necessarily right in this case.
  3. QUOTE(tonyho7476 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 03:04 PM) See ya later Joe...we hardly knew ye. When I hear his name, a certain song comes to mind....it goes something like this... "Come on, take the money and run. Oooh, ooh, ooh, Come on, take the money and run." Wow, tough crowd. I give Borchard credit for toughing it out. He could have easily left baseball for the NFL and likely more money.
  4. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 02:59 PM) I'd put my money on them or the Pittsburgh Pirates. They are DESPERATE for a power hitting corner outfielder besides Bay, and would probably take a chance on Borch. And no please don't mention Vinny "I'm not going to say it" Castilla in any possible National deal. I'm not anticipating getting anything for Borchard. He'll become a FA.
  5. Borchard is still a fun player to watch at the plate. You never know when he'll just crush one. He might as well start packing his bags for the Washington Nationals.
  6. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 02:40 PM) Borchard really said nothing wrong. I am actaully rooting for Borch, hopfully he can come out and at least hold his own up here, and increase his value. A package of Marte, Borch and one of the SP's could bring alot back to this club....... How could we trade him though? Would we have to keep him on our 40 man?
  7. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 02:37 PM) According to manager Ozzie Guillen, he and his coaching staff had a three-hour meeting with general manager Ken Williams to discuss the plans for rookie pitcher Brandon McCarthy after the right-hander had his second straight impressive outing Monday at Boston. The plan is to use McCarthy out of the bullpen. "This kid is not Roger Clemens, c'mon," Guillen said. "He's just had a couple of great games when we need it." ... That's fine Ozzie...but Duque isn't the same pitcher he was when he had postseason success. And if Ozzie foolishly has any desire of starting Duque in the postseason, he needs to rest his arm as much as possible right now. I'm not real sure why Ozzie seems intent on getting every last pitch out of Duque's arm in every start.
  8. Here's my lineup prediction: Pods, Ozuna, Rowand, PK, AJP, Dye, Gload, Uribe, Harris
  9. I wouldn't be surprised if PK was trying too hard during the early part of the season for two reasons: 1) free agency = $$$$$ 2) to prove that he could carry this offense without Ordonez, Lee, and Thomas. I don't think we have a clue how much money PK has made himself with this 2nd half, but I would guess he's raised his price by about 2 mil per season. As long as he continues to help the Sox, I say good for him.
  10. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 03:38 AM) If Ozzie puts El Duque in the playoff rotation over Jose I will kick him in the groin

    Shingo

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 03:34 AM) When on a message board all sarcasm needs to be in green... Is that grinder rule number 80?

    Shingo

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 03:29 AM) He would of allowed 6? And Jenks didnt give up any runs really you can blame them all on Iguchi. Ridiculous sarcastic comments don't need to be in green. I don't even think Shingo's wife would rather have him on the Sox than Jenks.
  13. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 03:31 AM) Of course...who wouldn't?? Ok there is an obvious answer to that question. Exactly, you know what I was referring to.
  14. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 03:29 AM) This series is just at a bad time. It's a weeknight series against the Royals when everyone just went back to school. One thing: I'd rather win with 15K than lose with 30K.
  15. QUOTE(kevin57 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 03:28 AM) This is progress, I guess. Now, I can't wait until he criticizes some, any, aspect of the team, the manager, or club management. Should I hold my breath? Maybe he could make a joke how there were 30K at the game, but Joey Cora sent most of them home for no reason.

    Shingo

I'm still pissed we got rid of Shingo for Jenks. No way Shingo would have allowed 3 runs at Boston yesterday.
  17. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 03:25 AM) I smell an attendance thread. YIPPIE We've had great attendance numbers lately, so that would be foolish if someone started another thread about it. I'm simply saying that I can't believe the crowd was so small, and I've never seen Hawk so upset about the attendance.
  18. BTW, in the postgame show, Hawk said the attendance tonight was very disappointing.
  19. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 03:21 AM) If Marte ISNT moved in some sort of package this off-season, I will be very, very suprised. I beleive Williams, along with Ozzie, is fed up with Damaso. EDIT:ISNT! I've been saying all along that we're going to use Contreras and Marte as our major trade chips this offseason, along with possibly someone like Sweeney.
  20. I'd take Dye and his contract over Ordonez and his contract any day of the week. A solid offensive producer can hit 25 homers at the Cell during an average year. It's not like Ordonez gave us amazing defense and terrific execution.
  21. I don't care how lucky we get, a win is a win. I simply don't think Ozzie gives our team the GREATEST chance to succeed a lot of the time with his pitching moves. A manager can hit a ball or make a pitch...but he can put the best personnel on the field at the appropriate times on a consistent basis. Jphat...would you still want Duque starting an inning the rest of the season when his pitch total is around 90?
  22. Great job by Hermanson! We can all breathe a little easier (including myself).
  23. QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 02:51 AM) I get the feeling if we win the World Series people will still be complaining on the game thread how Ozzie managed. It's actually quite amusing. I can guarantee you that is false. As one of the prime pessimists on this board, you'd never hear a word from me about Ozzie after the season.
  24. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 02:50 AM) Hermy has a great closer attitude, if healthy Hermy can be good because he has definitley shown it. Problem is, he came out today and said he's not healthy.
  25. Almost a disasterous bounce on that grounder. Sit down Hocking!
