Can we change the title of this thread to "Sit Down El Duque"

Back to the 1940s - Sox vs Twinkies 9-17
QUOTE(Capn12 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:37 PM) Wow. It sounds bad, but this is almost comical to me. Everyone in the free world knew what was going to happen with Duque starting today against Johan.....except Ozzie. We've won 89 games in spite of who we call our manager. If you listened to sports radio the past few days, there wasn't one "baseball expert" who had anything good to say about Ozzie. My only hope is that if we do miss the playoffs, he'll be criticized so much that JR has no choice but to fire him.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:35 PM) Well I wasn't talking about that. You were talking about replacing him in the game, and I said pitching Bmac woudln't be a waste if he was to start next time in El Duque's place. That's a good point, but we still have no clue if Ozzie will let Duque start again. Also, if you don't pitch McCarthy, then the Twins won't get a chance to see him before they face him next week. That could be a lot more important than some f***ing mop-up innings.

Back to the 1940s - Sox vs Twinkies 9-17
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:35 PM) If there's any justice in our clubhouse, El Duque will have just cost himself the rest of his starts this year and any chance at being on a playoff roster. If he starts another game, you're going to have a lot of people who lose any respect they might still have for Ozzie in that clubhouse. Those players want to win more than any of us, and they know that Duque isn't one of the 5 best options to start.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:34 PM) To be honest with you, I'm glad he started today. They aren't going to beat Santana with any of their starters, so why waste a potential good start, and El Duque showed he should not be on the mound the rest of his life. I doubt even Ozzie could defend him now. Like I said a few minutes ago, if we were going to lose today, it was a lot better that it was cause Duque did awful than to lose a heart breaking 1-0 game.

QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:34 PM) another k for santana, his 8th. Considering we almost have no chance to win, I hope he K's 21 and pitches a perfect game.

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:33 PM) He should of started this game, but our fearless leader forgot the part in his bulls*** press conference when he got hired about playing the game the right way. If 100+ pitches through 3.2 innings giving up 4 runs giving up 8 or more hits is playing the game the right way, then he should of managed the f***ing royals. they play like that all the time. This team hasn't played the game right since August 1st.

Duque's ERA is now 5.24

There's going to be a ton of Ozzie bashing around baseball and the radio today. The decision to start Duque today was worse than Manuel's decision to start Cotts against the Yankees. At least some people thought Cotts had a chance to succeed that game.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:30 PM) Well if Bmac is starting the next game why is that a waste. Gives him time to get some work in today before he starts in 5 days. Because we have no clue if he will really start for Duque next time. Dusty Guillen could very well say he wants Duque's leadership during the stretch run.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) Huge understatement. He must be the easiest pitcher to steal off of in baseball. No, that would be Contreras

QUOTE(sayitaintso @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:29 PM) But oz wants to respect his players. I think ozzie lost respect of his players quite a while ago.

Duque has just supplanted Timo as my least favorite Sox player ever!
-
Back to the 1940s - Sox vs Twinkies 9-17
11 recorded out, 12 base runners for Duque. On the bright side, at least his start has been so pathetic that hopefully Ozzie will look past all of Duque's "attributes", and realize that he shouldn't be close to the mound again.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:25 PM) If he got back a Flash Gordon baseball card he would have made an incredible deal. And we're going to have to likely trade one of our starting pitchers in order to manage his contract next year. Duque, do us all a favor, and please retire!

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:24 PM) Now we are going to waste McCarthy here. He should of f***ing started this game, but our fearless leader decided he needed to give a cookie to El Duque. Who's going to be the first one to get suspended for saying what everyone's thinking?

QUOTE(whitesoxmanager @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:23 PM) why is it that the sox radio side seems like they have the same attitude we all do? expecting the worst hoping for the best..... There's not a person in the Sox organization that thinks Duque should still be starting besides Ozzie. Also, from tidbits I've heard on the radio, there's a lot of people PISSED OFF about some of Ozzie's managing decisions.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:23 PM) Back in June or July they enquired. KW needed to pull the trigger, even if they gave nothing back. KW asked for Flash Gordon. That's about as absurd of offering Jon Adkins for Ray Durham.....oh wait, that happened.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:22 PM) Maybe the Yankees will take him back. No I'm not kidding. No way, even they know he's done. Yankees won't be taking chances on injury prone pitchers for a while.

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:21 PM) For crying out loud Ozzie what in the heck did you leave The Duckie in for? Now it's 4-0 and some unknown rookie has 3 hits including a triple and 2 rbi's against him. He is done! He's not an unknown rookie. He's one of the weakest hitters in the history of baseball. And if you think I'm joking, look at his career stats.

Back to the 1940s - Sox vs Twinkies 9-17
Not only that, I'm sure we'll completely waste McCarthy now for the next 4 or 5 innings. We're better off putting Baj, Sanders, etc in.

What a f***ing joke. Duque better not start another f***ing game for the White Sox this season.

10 outs recorded, 9 base runners. Thankfully we started him today.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 17, 2005 -> 05:18 PM) The guy is done. The fact that he is signed through next season is a real problem for the Sox. That's $5 million they could be using on someone who is actually effective. And everyone in baseball knew it.
