  1. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 01:02 AM) Yes!!!!!!!! we play better in front of crappy crowds. It's amazing, isn't it!
  2. Wow, AJP running quite funny there. I thought for a second he might have hurt himself. Just AJP being AJP, I guess. Great swings by our last two hitters!
  3. Great to see AJP hitting the ball to the opposite field. We need to get the runner in from 3rd with less than two outs.
  4. Well, DJ is now doing number crunching in order to find out what record the Indians need to have if the Sox go 15-16 the rest of the way.
  5. Just once, I would like to see Ozzie give Dye a shot at batting 3rd. It just seems like Everett's swing has gotten way too long.
  6. Having Harris, Pods, and Ozuna bat consecutively reminds me of a softball team built on bunting the ball.
  7. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 2, 2005 -> 12:47 AM) Good thing we didn't play for one run I liked the move....but Ozuna just has to try and avoid hitting it up the middle. Nothing you can do about that though. However, it would be nice of Hawk to just shut up. He keeps saying how bad of a break that was. How was that a bad break Hawk? How about the fact we only had two guys on because Pods got lucky on a bad bunt?
  8. Well....that sucked. That was the one place we couldn't afford for Ozuna to hit the ball.
  9. According to Hawk, Iguchi was late showing up to the game tonight. That's why he's not playing.
  10. The worst thing about playing Willie is that with Pudge behind the plate, it's not like we're going to be running much anyways. I simply hate the "Ike Turner" slap lineup in the game when we're playing good hitting teams.

    In theory, bringing in all that equipment sounds good. The problem is that there's just so many assholes there that are trying to make things miserable and impossible for everyone else.

    QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 11:39 PM) Shoot to kill at that point. If anyone even points a gun at anyone, they need to take action to protect people. Its the only way that law and order will be restored. Exactly, and you know they'll start saying it's a racial thing. At this point, like you said, they need to do everything they can to protect these people.
  13. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 11:36 PM) Willie's 0-13 against Johnson. :sleep I'd rather have Blum at 2nd base than Willie. Another lineup tonight where we have 3 players with ZERO homers in the same lineup. I guarantee that not many AL teams in the last few years can say the same thing this late in the season.
  14. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 11:35 PM) they said gooch was having trouble seeing out of his right eye? Well that's not good. Considering that there's likely nothing accute that caused that, it could be either a real quick recovery, or something that can linger on for a while.
  15. Oh boy, that's not good that Iguchi is out. We suffer such an offensive downgrade with Harris in the lineup. If we knew that Iguchi was having injury problems, and didn't try to upgrade at 2nd base over Willie, then that's a big blunder by KW.

    Those people shooting at medical workers and other helpers deserve to be thrown in jail for life. My father went down there yesterday to help as a doctor on an emergency response team, and he said it's just an absolute war zone.
  17. Nicely done. Let me add a few thoughts of my own: - Neal Cotts has improved more from one season to the next than any pitcher I can remember in a long time. - The best move KW has made in the last year for the long-term future of this organization was claiming Bobby Jenks. - Baseball announcers need to check their ego at the door. - Dusty Baker should not have a job.
  18. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 10:21 PM) AHEM, you forgot someone that single handedly won us a game. I didn't know Timo was a rookie?
  19. QUOTE(Reddy @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) this is a great way to start off september a) a team we can beat, even sweep, without working too hard How many times have we heard this recently? I'm not saying you're wrong Reddy, but it seems like a lot of people just want to clinch this division during one weekend.
  20. If Ozuna can continue to play solid 3b defense, that would be a huge boost to this team. He's one of those players that makes things happen when he's at bat. We need to do more hit-and-runs with him at the plate, as he's very good at hitting the ball on the ground.
  21. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 08:03 PM) You could be right. Minor league splits are hard to come by. I was going by personal observation on that one. I'm not worried about relief, but if Sanders is on the roster, he's in danger of being used. (I've used that line before for other players. Namely Kevin Walker, Jon Adkins, and Timo Perez -- We know how they have performed this year) Civic...you and I share the same concerns about Ozzie's use of our personnel. Anderson and Gload should be great weapons off the bench...but you know Timo will get the first shot likely. I also think Borchard should be given a few starts to see if he can swing the bat well this last month. The one thing I don't want to see is games where Ozzie starts 5 benchers (unless division race is decided). Rather, he needs to mix in one, or at the most, two bench players with our core starters.
  22. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 07:56 PM) No, I think we have 3 guys who are capable of contributing to a playoff contender. Gload, Baj, and Anderson. But from what I've seen of the player management this season, I have no reason to believe that any of them will be given a chance to contribute ahead of Timo, Sanders, and Ozuna respectively. You know Ozzie is going to use Sanders as a LOOGY in an important spot, with Neal Cotts and Marte still in the pen. Not to mention that Baj's slider appears to be more effective to lefties, and he'd probably be a better choice that Kevin Walker version 2.0. Anderson should be the first righty bat off the bench, getting the occasional start when the matchup favors him. But he'll sit and watch Ozuna and Timo make first pitch outs. Gload should get as many at-bats as is possible. I know he's not going to supplant Konerko or Jurassic, nor should he. But I fear we'll still see a line-up down the stretch with Blum at 1B and Ozuna at 3B, and that's inexcusable with Gload on the bench. (Hell it was inexcusable yesterday) I thought Baj had struggled against lefties all season? The one thing I'm not worried about is relief....as Ozzie seems to be living or dying w/his starting pitcher.
  23. Maybe I missed it, but is Borchard getting called up?
  24. QUOTE(Felix @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 07:52 PM) Casanova instead of Burke? Why? Is Casanova better on defense than Burke? That would be the only reason I could think of as a 3rd string catcher.
  25. QUOTE(Whitesoxfan56 @ Sep 1, 2005 -> 03:56 PM) We all knew that August would be a horrible month, and it was, but now it is September, and it is time to put August behind us and go out there and cheer on the best team in the AL. LETS GO SOX!!!!! Why did it have to be horrible, because we were playing good teams? If that's the case, then a playoff run isn't probable. Also, just cause you're playing good teams, it doesn't excuse the terrible execution, awful defense, and horrible managing.
