  1. Haha, that resembled the first play of the playoffs a couple of years ago with Ray Durham.
  2. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 08:35 PM) Everett's a better RF?? Haha! Everett plays every batter near the warning track. He's been better in the field than I thought he would this season, but he's still a well below average RF.
  3. This resembles the typical ugly Sunday game.
  4. Has there been any mention by anyone listening on the radio as to why Dye isn't playing today?
  5. The B squad defense strikes again.
  6. Well, this is more like the Garcia we've come to know.
  7. Took one batter to match the hit total from last game.
  8. QUOTE(CYGarland @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 08:16 PM) I don't understand why Iguchi is still trying to hit the ball to the right side w/ 2 strikes. You gotta know Moyer's gonna go inside. He should be ready for that pitch and TURN on It!! Yeah, at this point, he's better off just swinging normally. He's completely got himself out of whack at the plate trying to hit the ball to the opposite field. I appreciate that he's trying to do the right thing, but he's really giving away too many ABs.
  9. Seems like forever since there's been a 2 out run scoring hit that wasn't a homer. Way to go PK!
  10. Man, when's the last time that Iguchi got the job done, in regards to moving the runner over?
  11. I can't believe Ozzie is benching one of the streakiest hitters in baseball coming off of a superb game. I don't care if Dye is 0 for 50 against Moyer in his career....he deserves to be in the game.
  12. QUOTE(SEALgep @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 07:09 PM) I like Konerko, but I see us going a different direction next year. I certainly could be wrong, but I think adding Erstad as our first baseman has a lot of advantages. Erstad would be a disaster for this team. The last thing we need is a defensive specialist at a power position. We have enough of those guys on our roster already.
  13. Can't Griffey Jr. just get his annual injury to put this all to rest?
  14. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 06:03 PM) Getting demoted... Somphore slump. Book it. Yeah, I wouldn't doubt it. He has no plate discipline. The most impressive thing about him is his throwing arm though. One of the best I've ever seen.
  15. QUOTE(aboz56 @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 05:12 PM) I also think the Braves will use Betemit at SS next year with Marte possibly taking over at 3B depending on where Chipper will play. I think Atlanta is a huge favorite for Brian Giles, I could see the following Braves team for next year. LF - Chipper, CF - Jones, RF - Brian Giles, 3B - Marte, SS - Betemit, 2B - Giles, 1B - Laroche, C - Estrada Another East division title IMO. Where's Francouer?
  16. BTW, the reason people think Furcal is Cubs bound is that his agent is Aramis Ramirez's agent, and the Braves supposedly won't be able to re-sign him. They're considered the heavy favorite to sign Furcal. Also, I'd rather have Uribe for 3 million than Alex Gonzalez for 7 million.
  17. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 02:36 PM) You guys are great. I love coming back and reading game threads. Everytime 3 or 4 guys make fools of themselves calling out Ozzie, and everytime they look like idiots because they get proven wrong night after night after night. I loved watching Marte come in and thinking about people whining on the board only to have a huge smile on my face when Marte got the DP ball to make em look so dumb. Jose was a headcase because he allowed two runs, then he was awesome, despite the fact that he has an ERA under two in August. Great job Jose and Ozzie. Just keep it going. Yeah, we were all made to look like idiots when he left Contreras in for the 8th, and he gave up a leadoff single to the number 9 hitter. We were all made to look like idiots when we didn't want Jenks to face Sexson, we wanted Cotts. I know a lot of us are wrong in what we say during a game, but to go back and criticize people AFTER the game is very easy to do.
  18. Not a chance in the world that Contreras is only 33.

QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 05:12 AM) I did not say complain. I am talking about people who have to look on the down side of every f***ing thing to do with the sox. If you want to talk about the double (that was 2 or 3 pitches later) go in the damn game thread. I can't believe someone is actually saying that Rowand44 is negative.

QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 05:08 AM) Though, I am not happy with the Double. I take W's over personal recorts, accomplishments, ect. I am a fan of out of the ordinary feats. No Hitter, the cycle, hitting over 100 on the radar gun by 2 miles . That makes me no less of a fan than you. We won, so I guess you can enjoy it too now. Yeah, I was just pointing out why some of us weren't overly excited about it. It was definitely a fascinating AB though with Sexson. I think we can all look back on that AB as one we won't forget for a while, with the 102 mph and the relay that happened to end the inning.
  21. Loaiza's pitching in a massive pitcher's park. I'll take Contreras any day of the week.

QUOTE(rangercal @ Aug 28, 2005 -> 04:57 AM) Life as a Sox Fan: Too many f***en pessimists around you. He gave up a double on a later pitch . Sexson did not hit the 102 pitch. If you all want to complain get your cry baby asses back in the game thread. Let some of us enjoy the moment. Some of us have different ways of enjoying the game of baseball. I love the 100mph fastball. Ok....that sounds like the same type of attitude Cubs fans had when we'd make fun of them for only rooting for Sosa's homers. Sure, it was cool to see the 102 mph pitch....but it would have been nicer to see him get Sexson out.
  23. YES!!!! I'll take the win...even if my blood pressure will never be the same.
