QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 12:49 AM) Well, I'm pulling for him. He's not Timo, so that's reason enough to cheer for him. Exactly. I know it's harsh to say, but I'm rooting for a season-ending injury to Timo. If that makes me a bad fan, so be it. However, I think it's in the Sox's best interest if he was off this roster for good.

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 12:48 AM) He's gonna have a lot of strikeouts in his first few games, especially if he's playing LF tomorrow. Oh yeah he will.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 12:46 AM) If you want that, you want Cleveland to start winning. Tough to wake up and throw it all out there when you have a 12 game lead. f*** no do I want the Indians to win. Too many people in the Sox organization seem to want to coast to the playoffs. I've never seen more articles written about a team planning their playoff rotation/resting players while there were still about 50 games left in the season. As Al Davis says, Just Win Baby!

Anyone agree with me that if we lose tonight, I'd rather we be no-hit? Of course, I'd be extremely pleased if we won tonight. However, if we're going to lose, rather it be an embarrassing loss to hopefully shake this team up.

Uribe's taking two pitches against Radke? That's not very aggressive baseball. It just seems like we're playing not to lose, rather than go out and make things happen.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 12:37 AM) I don't think I can watch nine innings of this. Milkman told me to take a week off from watching the Sox, as they'd only drive me nuts. I can't do that, but I wonder how he's doing not watching the games.

Bring on Johan. I like our chances better against a great lefty than any average righty pitcher.

We're hitting the ball hard tonight, just right at their defenders.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 12:26 AM) There aren't a whole lot of offensive options out there. There is a reason a lot of those people went unclaimed. It'd be nice to get Griffey, but he can't make the owner give him up. Get back to the bench Ozzie

Is it me, or does this game already feel like every other August Twins game from the past few years?

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 12:23 AM) ? I was just letting people who cant watch know that he got out. Just like 0-1 for Carl. What was ur post about? Certainly not good that tadahito got out. I thought you were mocking me because of what I said about Timo. My post about Timo being 0-1 wasn't as much PBP as it was disgust.

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 12:22 AM) "Where would he play?" I was thinking the same exact thing. Don't worry, KW says we have the best record in baseball, so we don't need the upgrade.

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Aug 17, 2005 -> 12:21 AM) I wonder how much thought they gave to batting Gooch - Uribe 1-2 in the lineup tonight? Seriously, why does Timo have to leadoff? We look energized again tonight!!!

Bench Paulie's Ass!!!
I thought Uribe didn't get benched? Also, I don't think PK watched the ball cause he thought it was gone. Rather, he was jammed so much, he thought that ball was going foul. If you noticed that particular hit, the ball didn't hook like it normally does off the bat of a righty. Watching the ball or not, that's not why PK was thrown out at 2nd. He stopped because he wasn't sure Everett was going to get to 3rd base. I'd rather not bench PK's ass when he's in his best stretch of the season. You want to bench someone? How about Crede, and his 2 consecutive ABs without being able to get the runner over?

1 = .278 OBP, 2 = .285 OBP
BTW, did anyone else see the blurb in the Tribune about how Anderson isn't expected to be a starter since he's been promoted? Looks like more of the Timablo disaster.

Will the Sox land Griffey?
QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 05:51 AM) Does it have to be a mathematical certainty before you'll be convinced? Basically, yes.

Will the Sox land Griffey?
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 05:45 AM) With the way the club has been playing, our fans have every right to be for Jr. to come...... You're telling me! I've been worried about a potential collapse for a few months now, and everyone knows I'm worried that it's not a sure thing we'll make the playoffs.

BTW, what's the estimated distance on Morneau's homer against Garcia in the first inning tomorrow night?

Will the Sox land Griffey?
All I have to say, in the most polite way I can, is some people on this board are suckers. There's been nothing that suggests the Reds will trade Griffey Jr. However, every day, there's another 3 threads started about KG Jr. Until you hear reliable information that the Reds are looking to trade KG Jr., go back to rooting for the CURRENT sox team!

"The" Griffey Rumor
QUOTE(KevHead0881 @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 04:46 AM) FWIW... That next to last quote irks me so much.

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Aug 16, 2005 -> 03:50 AM) Also, if Uribe could throw a ball to the plate without bouncing it, we may have saved another run. We have got to lead the majors in fewest guys thrown out at home. Our outfielders have been simply awful at throwing guys out at home, and there's been plenty of plays where a good throw would have got the runner.
