GAME THREAD 7-26-2005 SOX vs ROYALS
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:55 AM) I disagree. Numerous trades have been nixed wit hTB because their GM, whose name escapes me, pushes the price of his guys too much/ Can some one confirm? Chuck LaMaar is their GM. He's asking for a lot for Huff. I never said he wasn't. However, I don't want to know how much the Brewers would be asking for a young, very good lefty 1b in Overbay.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:52 AM) We are 10-0 against a team this year, but yet you look for ways to make it seem like the Royals have been on the Sox level this season, and being 10-0 is flat out luck. You trying to disprove the Sox record against KC defines you on this site. Looking at the glass half empty, and not half full. No other way to put it. All I was trying to say was that it wasn't a given win tonight if we just showed up. I would hope I'd be defined on this site as someone who actually knows baseball, and doesn't feel like they have to be the Sox publicist. However, I know I say a lot of things that people don't like to hear....and I just hope they don't take it personally.

QUOTE(TheHammer @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:53 AM) If the 12 games up and almost August is the only thing in the post you can dispute I guess you are admitting you could be wrong about Ozzie's handling of this team. There's no doubt in my mind that Ozzie is the Manager of the Year as of the end of July. How this particular team has this record, I'll never know? However, that doesn't mean I don't think he has serious managerial problems (in-game strategy being his biggest problem).

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:48 AM) I like Overbay and I think he'd be a great addition. It's so frusterating though when there is so much overreacting to one stinkin game. We're 10 and 0 against them coming into today, unfortunately a game like this was bound to happen. Overbay will cost us more than A. Huff would, I guarantee that. Huff is a FA after this season, and Overbay still has a few more years before he's a FA. Also, Overbay has turned into a fan favorite in Milwaukee. If we do trade for Milwaukee, can we get their announcing crew also? Those guys are great.

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:49 AM) Iguchi Jim, I've been wondering all night if maybe Iguchi is banged up. For all of us, like myself, b****ing about him not playing.....I'll be happy if there's no serious injury involved. We can handle one stupid loss...but losing Iguchi for any extended amount of time would be bad. We do need a back-up 3b though.

QUOTE(TheHammer @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:48 AM) We are 12 games up and its almost August. Over 60 games left, including 13 against the Twins, and a handful amount of games against some of the other best teams in the AL. Stranger things have definitely happen in baseball than a team with a 12 game lead on 7/26 not make the playoffs.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:45 AM) And that post alone defines you on this site. Why? It's very true. How many times did we just squeak out the wins against KC, and especially when they brought Sisco into the game? If bringing up a logical point defines me on this site, then I really need to change my persona.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:43 AM) You know what, I hate to be like this but to be honest you have no f***in clue what you're talking about. I'll actually agree with you on this. I'll take being 30 over .500 right now. It does matter, as the record is the only thing that counts during the regular season. One game isn't going to bring that record down to .500. And I don't want the Sox to acquire Overbay at all! He's extremely slow, and is no guarantee to handle the stress down the stretch. He had been struggling pretty bad recently, I believe.

QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:39 AM) Did you honestly believe that we'd lose this game with MB on the mound against Lima, regardless of the # of bench players starting? Go back and look at the beginning of this gamethread. I specifically stated that Lima can get in a rhythm, and with the lineup we had tonight, I was worried he could shut us down. I was told that was nonsense, because we could play our grandmas, and we'd still beat KC. Even though we were 10-0 vs KC this year, they have played us pretty close. We've won 4 or 5 games against them this year that could have easily been won by them.

QUOTE(professionalfan @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:36 AM) ^^^^ No offense, because I have no bad blood for any Sox fans on here. But, have you posted anything in this thread all night, or do you just add an icon or a mark to certain posts?

QUOTE(JimH @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:35 AM) Fathom, You are WAY WAY WAY over the top tonite. Step back from the computer ... really ... this venting is bordering on the ridiculous. Jim...I've made my points quite clear tonight I thought. Iguchi should be playing, without a doubt. He doesn't like to sit because he gets out of his rhythm....and Ozzie pulls him for 2 straight games after he has one of his best games of the season. I'm actually ok with Timo playing, as he's had some of our most consistent ABs lately (and everyone knows how much I dislike him). I'm absolutely sick of seeing Ozuna play 3b though. How obvious is it that he can't play the position? Just because some guy can play 2b or SS, it doesn't mean they can play 3b. I actually think this should be a positive experience for the Sox tonight, as it might get Ozzie to stop with the mass sub lineups.

QUOTE(TheHammer @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:34 AM) People want the great chemistry, but refuse to accept the way Ozzie has been able to build and maintain it. Besides that, come October I would happily have an extra loss or two if it meant having a bench more ready to contribute in the playoffs and a team that has 25 members who go to the ballpark everyday hoping they have a chance to contribute. You have to get to the playoffs first. That should be Ozzie's main goal right now. There's still way too much time left for Ozzie to be planning for the postseason. This would be a whole different argument if the Sox had clinched, etc. Even I would be understanding!

GAME THREAD 7-26-2005 SOX vs ROYALS
QUOTE(mmmmmbeeer @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:31 AM) So would you prefer to see the team minus 1-2 starters every game? They've got to get their rest and anyone who thinks otherwise is nuts. Yes, I would LOVE to see 8 starters mixed with one bench player, etc. How many other teams do you see just do mass subs like Ozzie does? And please don't give me the best record argument, because our record is crap with the B squad this season. The whole mentality of the team is different when you're benching 2 or 3 everyday starters.
-
Tonight was a good thing............
It will be even a better thing if Ozzie realizes he needs to stop with these f***ing B squad lineups.
-
GAME THREAD 7-26-2005 SOX vs ROYALS
Ozzie wants to empty the bench, and then he realizes that his bench already has been in the game.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:28 AM) I find it hilarious how you overreact to every game, very laughable. The thing is, this frustration is just more than one game. It's the fact that Ozzie has been using RIDICULOUS lineups far too often this season. We were statistically much worse in those games than we were in games where we were playing the A squad. Now, with tonight's debacle, maybe people will finally start telling Ozzie to quit benching 3 starters every 4th game, etc.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:23 AM) The best pitcher on the best team in baseball against the worst pitcher on the worst team in baseball, and we're getting beat 7-1. f*** you, Ozzie. The best pitcher is going tomorrow. It's surprising Buehrle lost to KC, as he's been feeding off the teams with bad records all season. Garland has been much better against the top teams.

QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:23 AM) oh he will win it. don't worry. Great post though. You want to bet he wont? I think the A's had a lot more to do with him likely not winning it than Ozzie did. Garland has a much better shot at winning it.

Listen, I know I'm the negative one on here, but how in the f*** could anyone stick up for Ozzie tonight?

GAME THREAD 7-26-2005 SOX vs ROYALS
QUOTE(SoxFanForever @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:20 AM) Only thing I can think of is because we have a day game tomorrow. One thing I thought of on the way home tonight when I heard the lineup was this: With Buehrle giving up a ton of grounders hit to the left side, why play a god awful 3b in Ozuna at the hot corner? When Buehrle and Garland are pitching, we need our best defensive SS and 3B in the game...period!

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:19 AM) You play to win! Every night! No bulls*** about off days! Does your boss give you off days just like that? You get payed a s***load of money to play and Ozzie gets payed to field a good team. He failed tonight. You're sounding like me now!!! Like I said earlier, if we miss the playoffs by one game, these are the types of games we'll look back on and want to strangle Ozzie for. THE SOX HAVE NOT LOCKED UP A PLAYOFF BIRTH YOU DUMBASS!

QUOTE(SHAFTR @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:18 AM) Remember when Willie Harris lost us this game? I'm sure he is entirely responsible for that inning as well. Nope....he's a product of just a ridiculously pathetic lineup by our manager tonight. What the f*** was Ozzie trying to accomplish tonight by benching 3 players?
-
GAME THREAD 7-26-2005 SOX vs ROYALS
Holy s***, what awful footwork by Ozuna on that grounder. I would have rather he botched that ball, in an effort to get Ozzie to finally stop playing him at 3b.

GAME THREAD 7-26-2005 SOX vs ROYALS
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 03:16 AM) Hell no! If Ozzie knew how to field a team then this s*** wouldn't happen! f*** you Ozuna. That would have been an amazing play by Ozuna. The fact he's such a terrible 3b just made it an impossible play. How do you not blame Buehrle for this? He's the one who's giving up hit after hit with 2 strikes.
