QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 09:21 PM) This team is a f***ing embarassment. You're going to get blasted for that comment. I'll say this though: There's not a worse in-game manager than Ozzie Guillen. I don't think there's another manager in baseball who would have let Cotts stay in to face Melhuse

QUOTE(CYGarland @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 09:19 PM) The only positive i see about possibly getting swept here, is that it's AGAINST Oakland, who the Sox evidently feel cursed by. Just imagine if it was Minny There's not a single positive about being swept heading into the ASB.

QUOTE(Frankensteiner @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) The idea that we don't need to make moves is ridiculous. We've had a cupcake schedule compared to Cleveland, and whenever we run into good teams we s*** our pants. That all changes in the 2nd half. No kidding. 9 game leads in the division are definitely not locks. Especially considering how many of our pitchers pitched over their heads so far, and our record in one run games....we're due for our record to come back to earth.
-
Well, at least that wasn't predictable. Nothing like being swept heading into the ASB. And yes, this game is over. The Sox have shown me nothing in terms of enthusiasm to comeback in this game.
-
f*** YOU OZZIE GUILLEN! The guy has 4 f***ing walks in the inning, pull his f***ing ass.
-
I don't care what side of the plate Melhuse bats from, but Cotts should not be in this f***ing game. Get your head out of your ass Ozzie...he clearly has nothing!

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 09:12 PM) He's been hit or miss. Yes, but we've been having to use Cotts and Walker in situations where Marte has been our go-to guy.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) This is f***ing pathetic. Nice momentum into the break. No kidding, that's what I've been trying to say all this wknd, but everyone keeps throwing our record in my face as reason why I'm just being negative. Our starting pitching has been poor, our bullpen poor, and our offense has sucked lately. Not exactly a team that looks very sharp. Too bad we can't play Tampa again right now to cure our ills.
-
We really have missed Marte during the last 10 games or so.
-
Well, Cotts is back to not being close on his offspeed pitch.
-
This is shades of the bad Cotts right now. He's putting himself in some real tough situations cause of his control.
-
Thomas is really struggling against the good slider/curveball. He has to know no one in their right mind would throw him a fastball.
-
Twins-KC in a battle of bullpens definitely favors the Twins. With Affeldt and Macdougal pitching already, Sisco is the lone solid KC reliever left. Twins have used Nathan and Rincon already.
-
Need to avoid pulling off the forkball into a DP here. I have a feeling we might see another double steal attempt.
-
Perfect opportunity for a hit-and-run here. Has any hitter ever had worst defense played against him than Ozuna? You have to credit his hustle though.
-
Good job by Garcia there pitching out of it. Cotts will likely be in to start the 7th. Lets continue to get runners on base, and try and give our bullpen some insurance.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 08:44 PM) Was someone saying yesterday that Rowand doesn't have a good throwing arm? That may be 2 runs he's saved today with great throws. I did yesterday, and until today, he hadn't showed much of an arm at all this season. He's done a better job getting in position today than he had been doing. It was a good throw, but I've never seen an announcer blow his wad like Hawk did for a throw from very shallow CF before when the runner wasn't tagging.
-
Too bad Scutaro wasn't trying to score on that play. Big out in this game here. Kendall has been finding every hole this series.
-
Garcia about to give that run right back to the A's. That should not have been a triple, our outfield took forever to get to that ball.
-
Anyone else think we're going to have a situation where Rowand plays vs LHP, and sits vs RHP?
-
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 08:34 PM) 2 hits today for Konerko, that's one dramatic improvement. Can anyone remember the last time Paulie hit a home run? I serioulsy can't BOOM! I think he hit one in Detroit in the 2nd game.
-
Way to go Carl! Finally, someone on our team who got aggressive with the advantage in the count. You could see him waiting to swing out of his ass there.
-
2-0 count, and Frank takes a get me over fastball for a strike...and then swings at a nasty forkball. Not quite sure I like that way of thinking with the way he hits now. If Frank is going to try and hit for power every AB, he should be working the count in order to get that 2-0 fastball.
-
Hey hey! First time all series we shut them down after we scored.

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jul 10, 2005 -> 08:24 PM) I think you are exactly right in the analysis. Freddie has great stuff and is most effective when using the fastball and coming back with a curve or sinker. He satrts to rely on slow stuff and gets hammered. It's amazing to me how infrequently Garcia throws his fastball by hitters with 2 strikes. He always tries to get hitters out with an offspeed pitch, but the other hitters are looking for those pitches. He has a very good tailing fastball he can use inside against lefty hitters, but rarely uses it.
