  1. QUOTE(JimH @ May 28, 2005 -> 01:33 AM) Ok, this one is just about over. McCarthy will be done at 5 innings, he was much more timid in this game vs. the game he threw in Wrigley, I suspect it's because he'd faced these guys before in Tucson and they torched him. The Cubs will make any pitcher look better than they are.
  2. QUOTE(He_Gawn @ May 28, 2005 -> 01:27 AM) We start to lose and some of you guys act like f***ing idiots. It's not because we're losing, it's the way we're losing and the offense that comes with it. No one in their right mind can actually think our particular offense, even with Frank included, is good enough to win the division over the course of the entire season.
  3. QUOTE(Princess Dye @ May 28, 2005 -> 01:23 AM) i'm starting to see why the ESPN 'haters' kept saying we cant hit... because we cant. We're not even coming close to sustaining big offensive innings. Something has to be done, but I have a feeling our management wont make any changes because of our record.
  4. First pitch fastballs down the f***ing plate won't get the job done against good hitting teams. Maybe if McCarthy was facing the Sox, he'd be in good shape.
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 28, 2005 -> 01:16 AM) I love how both Ozuna and Harris have fake/bunted themselves into 2 strike counts. Yeah, that's productive. That's what happens when you have a combined 4 homers in 926 career AB. What is this, the f***ing National League?
  6. It's not just that we're not scoring runs. It's also the fact that our players are having terrible ABs, and they're not hitting the ball very hard.
  7. QUOTE(chisox2334 @ May 28, 2005 -> 01:01 AM) ah dye pitch just missed it You're going to just miss a lot of balls if all you do is swing for the fences. It's like how Hawk says that Crede and PK always "just miss it" when the fly out. Dye does seem to be swinging better though.
  8. QUOTE(NUKE_CLEVELAND @ May 28, 2005 -> 12:51 AM) So........are people going to start admitting we have a serious problem in the batters box or are we gonna hear more of this "LA LA LA we have the best record LA LA LA"? You know the answer to that.
  9. I don't understand putting Uribe in the 2nd spot. Considering that our best offense lately has been when Pods got on base, and we're able to get him in.....it just doesn't make sense having a number 2 batter who is in a horrible slump.
  10. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 28, 2005 -> 12:46 AM) Nearly every hispanic player can't lay off of the high fast ball but they are still on a major league roster. Maybe we should send all of them done to work on laying off of them? Qwerty.....there's a huge difference between a hitter swinging at too many high pitches, and a pitcher who leaves the ball up in the zone. Again, I'm not saying McCarthy can't be something special. It's just that right now, as young as he is, he needs more seasoning in the minors.
  11. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ May 28, 2005 -> 12:40 AM) Anyone, ANYONE who just saw that out pitch, and wants to tell me Bmac should not be up here needs to talk right now. I saw that pitch.....and as nice as it was, I don't think McCarthy should be in the majors right now. He needs to learn to keep his fastball down in order to prevent giving up a lot of homers.
  12. QUOTE(qwerty @ May 28, 2005 -> 12:38 AM) I wouldn't really consider him a sox fan. He b****es about everything and anything i have noticed. We're all frustrated with how McCarthy has started tonight, but I don't know how anyone would want to stop watching. Here's one of our biggest pitching prospects in the last decade on the mound. No matter what any of us say, we should all enjoy watching him pitch. This could be his last start in a long time for this team.
  13. Until McCarthy can keep AAA hitters in the park......he shouldn't be in the majors.
  14. Our offense needs help, and fast. And when I say help, I don't necessarily mean just adding Frank.
  15. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 28, 2005 -> 12:11 AM) I am in an uncontrollable state of shock after seeing our offense go down 1-2-3. Who woulda thought? Wow... How can someone swing and miss so many fastballs like Everett is doing?
  16. QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 27, 2005 -> 11:59 PM) If her family owns a Dairy Queen and she's 250 bills I can guarantee that all those Blizzard are going down her throat, not yours. The more I thought about it, the more I thought of exactly what you said. And take it from someone who's in his mid-20s. She's not going to get any skinnier as she gets older!
  17. That's a tough decision. 250 lbs in a girl = no chance. However, if her family owns a Dairy Queen = free blizzards if you date her, then it's something you might have to consider.
  18. Carrillo is a Sox fan. I have a feeling he'll be our pick, as he would likely be a pretty easy sign. Most scouts feel like he has a very limited ceiling though.
  19. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 27, 2005 -> 10:33 PM) the lineup today is messed up.... although Chris Young is a big fastball guy and we seemed to hit them well.... Bonderman, Harden, and Cabrera come to mind...when we faced Prior and Colon their fastballs werent as fast as usual. Chris Young throws in the low 90s. He's not an overpowering pitcher, despite his size.
  20. QUOTE(thomsonmi @ May 27, 2005 -> 10:32 PM) So we win 1-0 tonight, huh?!?!? All I know is this.....if Ozzie is going to play all of our weaker hitters (by that, I mean non-power threats), he's going to have to try and create offense. No more playing for the 3 run homer, etc. Ozuna obviously tends to hit the ball on the ground a lot. Thus, if Willie gets on, it would be a great idea to hit-and-run, etc.
  21. Our 8-9 hitters tonight have 4 career homers in 923 AB. Hidalgo has more homers than that in the last week.
  22. No Iguchi or Crede in the lineup tonight. Uribe is in the 2nd spot, and Everett in the 3rd. Now, our only chance of scoring in games (Pods then Iguchi) isn't even in play tonight.
  23. No offense, but this is a stupid idea. What is this, college basketball? Right now, we just have to act like we've been there before. We still have 3 very tough games at Texas.
