QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 28, 2008 -> 04:21 AM) When Biden referenced his mom and telling him to "bloody their noses" and Mama Biden mouthed "it's true", my wife and I literally laughed out loud. yea that was awesome.... anyone else see that McCain Commercial that was just on CNN with the "Hillary Supporter" that is now voting for John. That was laughable

QUOTE (Nokona @ Aug 28, 2008 -> 01:48 AM) For the first time in my 20 years, I actually feel like I'm winning. These 3 days have been wonderful I totally agree....this feels a whole lot different than 4 years ago and the 4 years before that.... Plus, I am right in the middle of it according to these people I met down the street "Homo sex is a threat to national security" they were so cool and smart

QUOTE (Heads22 @ Aug 28, 2008 -> 01:50 AM) I liked how he addressed claims from Republicans that democrats don't support the troops and what not This spielburg video is helping with that too...

I think this Kerry speech is really good as well... edit - except that last line c'mon dont bring up 4 years ago

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 10:32 PM) He makes a lot of promises than I don't know if he can keep. In my 8 years of voting i havent herd a canidate that doesn't. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 10:32 PM) We have better options than we did in 2004 for the presidential election on both sides, but these options can also be confusing at times. true dat

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 09:25 PM) One can, and should, question whether or not Obama can deliver on his promises. Same of McCain, although he promises a lot less, which may be more realistic. But this idea that Obama is somehow less trustworthy is just strange to me. None of us know these people personally, but in my perception, I think Obama was probably the most worthy of my trust of any of the major candidates in either party. I really like this, except the statement that McCain promises less, he said he could balance the budget by 2013...that is the most unrealistic thing I have herd from a canidate.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 09:22 PM) Actually, compared to all the bizarre and bogus reasons I've seen some folks in this country decide not to vote for Barack Obama (race, supposed religious ties, perceived lack of a plan, or not standing for the national anthem), his inexperience I find to be a very valid concern. Not necessarily a deal breaker by any means, but definitely something to take seriously. I understand that it is a valid concern. But the reason why our fore fathers created a system with checks and balances is the reason this is not much of a concern for me. I mean really, who has ever had "experience" being the leader of the free world...no one (other than the formers)....if experience really meant that much JFK, Billy Boy, etc would have never been in the oval office, and Joe Biden would have been there long ago. The best part about it is the spin the GOP is trying to put on it, that McCain has more experience b/c he spent time in a prison camp...its a riot

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 08:26 PM) You don't? And Bush's problem wasn't he was not ready, his problem was (and is) he's an idiot. Big difference. What is really the difference? Not Ready = inexperienced = incapable of running a country Daddy's Coattails = Idiot = incapable of running the country

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 07:22 PM) No, the video montage before she ever took the stage... she could have put clips in there of her and Obama, but nope, it was HER and HER campaign. She had nothing to do with the planning of the video montage....Could have had Obama in the Kennedy video as well. (He was an early supporter) I believe the reason behind it is because those video's are supposed to be a tribute to the person that it is about. Same story with the Jimmy Carter video. I agree it would have been a very good thing to do, especially for the TV audience. That is the problem I am seeing with the Dems and this convention, they are gearing the Pepsi center stuff more for the people in the Pepsi center and not the millions of American's watching on TV.
-
So walking around at lunch I saw someone wearing a shirt that read "Not Ready" and had a picture of Barack. I really don't understand how that can even be a an issue when he have had someone who can't even speak correctly in the white house for the last 8 years.

QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 06:59 PM) Why? Because I think Hillary was s*** on by the party and that Obama peaked too soon. I'm not saying I'm right and I'm not saying I'm a political pundit, but it's just my opinion at this point in time. Hey, sorry, i wasn't trying attack you. I was just confused as to why someone could be a lock to win over the nation when she couldn't even win her party over.
-
QUOTE (YASNY @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 06:19 PM) I believe, that in this point in time, Hillary would be a lock to beat McCain. I'm not so sure Obama can. Why? Because of her speech last night? Because Obama has dropped some points in the polls? I don't really see the reasoning behind that...if she couldn't win the primaries how could she be a lock for the presidency? QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 06:40 PM) The videos of her was all with the "Clinton" signs behind her. NONE of them had Obama signs. Symbolic? You bet your ass. This was her convention, and she got outdueled (I still haven't figured out how). They hand out the signs...if you look at the Kennedy speech everyone is holding Kennedy signs
-
QUOTE (lostfan @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 04:02 PM) She didn't speak too much about Obama specifically, but she did tell her supporters "it isn't about me" and questioned why they would consider voting for McCain if they were truly her supporters, then gave reasons. And frankly that's more than I've ever seen her say, although in the past she has admitted that the policy differences between her and Obama are miniscule in comparison to McCain. If I'm Obama I'm satisfied with that speech... I don't see how she could've said done any more to convince her disgruntled supporters to vote for him. I totally agree with you...She said his name at least 10 times...said something along the lines "You weren't in this fight just for me were you"...I thought she was very good for the Obama campaign. It’s like people are just trying to read between the lines to say she wants him to lose. If she really wanted him to lose she could have went out, made a stupendous speech (for her own political glory) and not even bring up his name. We'll wait and see what Billy Boy has to say tonight, I know he will add on that the Clinton's are for Obama and for this country. They wouldn't be 2 of the headline speakers for this campaign’s convention if they thought they were going to hurt it.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 03:02 AM) If a great deal of her supports dont vote for Barack after this, they are either deaf, dumb, or ignorant. Or all 3. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 03:19 AM) So this interview on CNN with this Hillary supporter....um, yeah. The fact she got a 5 minute interview in ridiculous. At first I couldn't believe that s***...its like get off your high horse at suck it up...yea Hillary won't be in the oval office but she is still going to a voice of reason in the Democratic party. Both of the Clinton's will be until the day they die. If your gonna be a little baby and not vote then so be it. The people that scare me are the ones that are going to vote for McCain instead. On Colbert last night (might have been Daily Show, It was late) They had a group of 10-12 people that were so pissed off that they were all going to vote for McCain instead of Obama for spite. Each of them were the head of a different group "Hillary Supporters for McCain" was the basic gist. I think one of the groups was even called "f*** a Unified Party"..their website was an acronym of something around that... I'm sorry but don't ruin this country b/c of your jealousy...We all have to be in the fight together and Hillary conceded...Her speech was amazing and was proof that she would probably be a great leader but suck it up and put America on the right track...she will be there soon enough. One more thing, I don't know how your guys feel about it but I think putting a black man in the white house is a bigger deal for America than putting a white female in the the White House. The time will come for a women to get there and Hillary will probably be the one. But getting a minority elected would be amazing.

The attacks should start tonight and Billy Boy should be the harshest one (tomorrow) will be my guess. I herd some analysts saying that if Bill doesn't think they have been harsh enough he will take it onto his own to do it... Its BS that this is the way that America has to do it, but the GOP is so good at attacking people they don't even have to make points as to why their canidate is better.

Were you guys with the weight gain working out at the time of quitting? I am trying to hit the gym 3 times/week to maybe curb that problem... I have always wondered if the weight gain thing is because you tend to eat more when you are not smoking or since tobacco is a stimulant your metabolism slows...

Guess I am stuck with the Hillary speech...I don't understand that comcast offers a sports package where I can get most cities FSN but they dont have "Comcast" sportsnet...

umm if this is true he is going to have to bust out the gerry-curl (sp?)

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 08:04 PM) I smoked for 10 years and just quit cold turkey back in January. I say screw all that gum and patch stuff. That stuff just reminds you of smoking all day. For a week or two it was hard. I will never go back, unless there is some sorta major world war. Than i'm back on the horse. I am starting to agree with you...they say not to chew the gum but I chew the hell out of it and it makes my mouth numb, but not a good numb.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 08:04 PM) uh.....did you ever...uh...burn yourself? That was part of the fun...
