  1. that's my bad, pnoles is the worst, the tweet just fit the discussion well
  2. The methodology is definitely flawed
  3. This is for hitters but still
  4. Sox starters are 25th in F-Strike%, #1 is the Indians. Sox starters are middle of the pack in pretty much all plate discipline metrics with the exception of Z-Swing% (#1) and O-Swing% (29th), so hitters are swinging at everything in the zone and nothing out of the zone against Sox starters, makes sense why they've struggled.
  5. I like this lineup
  6. Speaking of young Sox hitters, it's only 8 batted balls but holy hell check out Eloy's statcast numbers (please ignore the defense):
  7. Sox are middle of the pack in zone% (% of pitches in the strike zone) 2nd in Swing% (not surprising) 1st in O-Swing% (out of zone swing%) 13th in O-Contact% (out of zone contact%) 4th highest F-Strike% (first pitch strike%) 4th highest Sw-Str% (swinging strike%)
  8. The story of Luis Robert. FB% - second lowest in baseball SL% - second highest in baseball z-swing% (Inside the Zone Swing Percentage) - highest in baseball SwStr% (Swinging Strike Percentage) - highest in baseball swing% - 2nd highest in baseball contact% - 3rd lowest in baseball exit velocity - 84th percentile hard hit% - 81st percentile barrel% - 80th percentile Nothing too surprising, basically, he's seeing mostly sliders out of the zone, swinging at most everything and whiffing at an extremely high rate but when he does make contact he's barrelling the ball and hitting it extremely hard somewhere. This was the scouting report on him coming into the season and it's playing out exactly.
  9. Risky behavior on the part of players is in no way a prerequisite for outbreaks, they can simply go about their business boarding flights and staying in packed hotels and contract the virus. I somehow doubt these positive tests we're seeing are all related to players clubbing in their down time.
  10. So 2 positives on the Cardinals and they're still planning on playing tomorrow with a DH Sunday
  11. Not sure why Jesse Rogers of all people keeps getting this info.
  12. 1) it was a joke 2) 20% of the league will not play tonight due to positive Covid tests.
  13. At least they're seemingly taking less chances after positive tests after the failure to cancel the Marlins game last Sunday. The new doubleheader rules will be big, we're going to see a shit load of them if the season does play out.
  14. This, IMO, is a good start https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/luis-robert-673357?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb
  15. Madrigal is still in Schaumburg because the season will be cancelled or paused soon and this way the Sox can hold him out for the first month of 2021 and get another year of control!
  16. Fucking Eno Serris retweeted it, deleting
  17. He's in Schaumburg and Getz said today that he's "close" whatever the fuck that means. So we may not see him in the KC series.
  18. https://www.mlb.com/news/white-sox-rookie-luis-robert-showing-off-lots-of-tools
  19. Not a great sign for MadBum
  20. Another Marlins player tested positive bringing the total to 16 players and 2 coaches.
  21. Ricky sucks and his lineups are infuriating but Ozzie hit DeWayne Wise leadoff so fuck him too.
  22. Unfortunately, we could not have seen this coming.
