QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 07:08 PM) 8-1 Cleveland, Tribe continues to pour it on. And runners advance to 2nd and 3rd after the base hit thanks to an error by Gomez. The Twins defense is completely falling apart, they look lost out there. This Twins team f***ing sucks, they have no business being in a pennant in late September.
-
Jerry Owens is a f***ing joke.
-
Juan MOTHER f***ING Uribe just drew a walk with the bases loaded. HA! Joe Crede who?
-
And Denard Span costs the Twins a couple of runs. Nice.
-
Ugh, awful AB for AJ right there.
-
Griffey might suck at baseball but he has a pretty good sense of humor.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 06:58 PM) Cleveland has runners at 2nd and 3rd with only 1 out And a bad play by the infallible Denard Span put them there.
-
Well that's a given Fathom, you'd think a soft swinging speedster like Owens would at least be capable of getting a bunt down but no he can't even do that.
-
Don't let that fluke suicide squeeze fool you, Jerry Owens can't bunt worth a damn.

QUOTE (rangercal @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 06:17 PM) Funny Jeter Broke the Yankee Stadium Hit Record on an error. I hate that asshole. Yankee fans BOO the s*** out of Arod and Jeter always gets a free pass. He's OPS has been stuck at or under .750 for most of the season, you'd hope your $20M SS would step up his game when the team is falling out of the playoff race but no he just continued to suck. He's having a dog s*** season but no one seems to care since he's Derek f***ing Jeter.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 06:12 PM) Gavin really needs to learn to pitch over mistakes and bloop singles. I believe he just did.
-
Who said it? Al Leiter?
-
I f***ing hate Derek Jeter. He's having a f***ing dreadful season while making $20M and you here nothing about it.
-
Good to see the embarrassingly bad, talentless wonder Owens in the lineup with Thome riding the pine.
-
Thome's option is going to vest with 17 more PA, so 4 more games and he'll likely be guaranteed a contract for next year.

QUOTE (Swingandalongonetoleft @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 12:57 AM) Additionally, I like Uribe at third. His ability to play third, short, and second will be valuable with OCab gone (allegedly). Don't know if this has changed or not since it was pretty much presented as fact earlier in the season but if not, between Uribe, Ramirez, Fields, and any potential signee/trade you're bound to find a capable mix. .297/.338/.486/.823 in 138 ABs since taking over for Crede at 3rd. He's definitely risen to the occasion.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Sep 16, 2008 -> 01:09 AM) 24 game winning streak would be pretty sweet Except that's impossible. If the Sox win the next 12 games then that final game will not be played since it will hold no significance. A 23 game winning streak is the absolute best they can do. I'm very disappointed in you.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Sep 15, 2008 -> 10:27 PM) I'd be shocked if we even offered him arb. There will be no reason to, he won't be bringing us any compensation.

162 + 1 - 83 (Sox Wins) - 68 (Twins Losses) = 12

Hurray for running yourself out of the f***ing inning!
-
Javy over his last 7 outings: 2.27 ERA, 0.97 WHIP, 8.75 K/9, 1.86 BB/9, 0 HR, .540 OPS against. In his last 5 outings he's received, on average, 2 runs of support per game.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 12, 2008 -> 11:14 PM) If it wasn't for the Tigers and their huge gamble, he would still be here. Boras doesn't have amazing mind meld powers. The Tigers took a gamble with a contract probably double what the Sox would and should have offered. Winners all around. Except the Tigers only guaranteed him $6M. So yeah they took a gamble but not an astronomical one. His salary for the '05 season was $6M but if he spent at least 25 days on the DL during the 2005 season because of that osteochondritis condition then the Tigers could void the deal at seasons' end, they'd be out $6M thanks to their risk taking. The biggest risk was that Magglio would stay healthy for the first season (not likely if the knee injury was going to be a problem) then have a recurrence of the osteochondritis condition in the second season, costing the Tigers $63M (they would already have paid him $12M in the form of his '05 salary and a $6M signing bonus paid after the '05 season). Magglio Ordonez was and still is an incredible talent and was certainly worth a $6M gamble (as well as a $63M gamble if he showed he could stay healthy over a full season of play) especially when you're a loser franchise looking to pick yourself up out of the gutter.
