So... what are our options?
I just love Beltre's durability. Having a 3B capable of playing everyday would be a welcomed change.

It's not like we're in a playoff race or anything
QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 09:11 PM) I hope the infield dirt at the Cell has insurance. Owens is going to cause a lot of damage to it. I heard today that the worms have already been warned of his presence.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 07:59 PM) He was a WR at UCLA, IIRC, so it is strange that he never seemed to put on muscle cuz you know his football team must have been in there all the time. He was actually listed at a TE. I can't imagine he got in the game much on blocking downs, he'd be killed.

Jerry Owens has to be the weakest 6'3" hitter in the game. His inability to generate ANY strength with that frame disturbing.

Jerry Owens needs to find a new profession.

QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Sep 2, 2008 -> 07:47 PM) It's great how all the anti-Crede people now get to wear the guise of having always been so pro-Juan When in reality they'll just turn on him later when he's cold b/c of their own personality types Bulls***. It's all about the here and now. As of right now Joe Crede isn't going to do a whole hell of a lot for this team in any facet of the game while Juan Uribe will at least play excellent defense, run a little, hit for some power and bunt on occasion. I've never been a Juan Uribe fan (never really trashed him either) and probably never will be but as of now he gives this team the best chance to win. It's not about hating Crede and pretending to love Juan or forgetting what's been said about him in the past, it's about putting the best players on the field in hopes of winning some games.

It's odd because on paper this infield should be one of the best in the game defensively. Cabrera has 2 GG, Crede has always been regarded as GG caliber, Konerko has always been solid (very good with the picks) and Alexei's D has definitely been passable while at times spectacular. Reality: Crede's been awful, Cabrera's D turns out to be overrated and Konerko has been Credeish over at 1B. So sad.

Jerry Owens will go 2-4 w/ 2 singles, 2 SB and a K. There will be more than a few people calling for him to be the starting CF and leadoff man the rest of the way.

Did the HR Derby ruin Hamilton?
Coming out of the All-Star break Josh Hamilton's OPS actually went up. He raised his OPS by 17 points in the first 2 weeks after the break and pretty much maintained that ~.927 for 2 weeks after that, really he's just been terrible over the past week or so. He's hitting .158/.179/.316/.495 over his last 38 ABs. There's your culprit. Remove the last week and Josh Hamilton is hitting .289/.381/.562/.943 w/ 8 HR and 20 RBI in 31 games since the break. So no the Homerun Derby had absolutely nothing to do with it. He's just in a slump right now.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 1, 2008 -> 08:05 PM) Haven't we heard that phrase or something like it so often as to make it pretty much meaningless at this point? No I think this is the worst they've looked though I wouldn't necessarily say it's their fault, Cliff Lee is just incredible. At least some of the pen arms have had success today. 3 IP and 2 baserunners from Wassermann, Logan and MacDougal.
