QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 03:26 PM) In terms of BA, HR, RBI, and defense, he is like Crede when Crede didn't make errors. And Beltre has a huge advantage in durability and speed. He's also a much better hitter to all fields than Crede and is a year younger than Joe. One more thing about Beltre: his OPS away from Safeco over the past 3 years is around .825, get him out of that pitcher's paradise and into the Cell and he becomes an even more productive offensive player.

CQ for MVP and ARam for ROY
From what I've been reading and hearing it seems Hamilton has really fallen off in the eyes of the national media. Justin Morneau is more of a candidate than Hamilton at this point. The one thing that Hamilton had on everyone else was his RBI total, he's currently at 116 RBI which is only 14 ahead of Morneau and 17 ahead of GOD. His OPS has fallen to .908 and he's 7 HRs off the lead. Hamilton is all but done at this point. Lead Candidates Carlos Quentin Justin Morneau 2nd Tier Joe Mauer Kevin Youkliss Jermaine Dye Alex Rodriguez Josh Hamilton 3rd Tier (will garner votes but are not legit contenders) K-Rod Evan Longoria Grady Sizemore IMO it's a 2 man race right now with Carlos way out in front. It's really not all that close.

QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 12:14 AM) What's wrong with this post? I hit the edit button 10 seconds after posting, 30 seconds later (internet is seriously slow right now) all is right in the world.

What a tremendous bust this guy has been. Yuniesky Betancourt was supposed to be Jack Wilson during one of those Jack Wilson good years instead he's Cesar Izturis minus the glove. That's right even his once excellent defense has all but disappeared.

QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 12:05 AM) In 2006 I saw him take batting practice at the Metrodome and he was hitting it farther than anyone else of the two teams, but he never hits homers in games it seems. Much like that asshole Ty Cobb people have long said that if Ichiro wanted to he could lead the league in homeruns. My take: If you can f***ing do it THEN DO IT! YOUR f***ING SINGLES ARE NOT HELPING YOUR TEAM WIN, A 70 HOMERUN SEASON MIGHT!

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 12:06 AM) not sure how serious you actually are, but I'm not going to disagree and he generally epitomizes the Mariners' lineup. 100% cereal

Ichiro is sucking f***ing overrated. $18M for a singles hitter. Awesome.

That Beltre commercial is actually pretty funny. The Mariners usually have good commercials.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 11:48 PM) i say he's living proof that one scientifically enhanced season can earn you mucho dollars So PED's made him awesome for one season then he just stopped taking them after he got his payday? Are PED's really so effective that they can take you from a decent ballplayer to possibly the best in the game? If so maybe he could get reacquainted with his dealer in time for his next contract year.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 11:46 PM) He has never been directly linked to the Sox, but seems like a typical Williams target. I know a few have brought him up for next year(wite especially) and I would love it. Aside from the whole free agent after the '09 season and Boras representation thing, he'd be a perfect fit for the Sox. Durable, decent speed, decent contact, good power, incredible defense, high salary but for only 1 more season, on a team that sucks ass and will undoubtedly move him sometime next year, and the potential to be one of the best players in the game if he could ever revert to the player he was during his contract year. (if at all possible) PERFECT fit.

4th blown save for Nathan ties his number from last year, 1 more and it will be the most he's had since '05, 2 more and it'll be a career high.

Great piece of hitting by Beltre right there. f*** bunting, you have 3 shots at a game tying single, use them.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Aug 25, 2008 -> 09:24 PM) How about Lexi leadoff and OC back in the 2nd spot he's batted at most of his career? We have some lineup options right now. The only problem with that is Alexei's .425 AVG and 1.080 OPS with RISP being wasted in the leadoff spot.

WINNER WINNER
Richard looked good Bullpen was awesome Alexei is just amazing Crede was awful at the plate but good in the field, should be interesting to see what he does over the next week or so Thome with the game winner in the 6th If the Twins lose we're a full game up in the division
