White Sox @ Red Sox 8-29
QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 06:31 PM) What's the solution? Underperforming Fields, Uribe who everyone has apparently absolved after nonstop absolutely hating, or an All-Star? EDIT: yes that last word was meant to madden all, but the point stands. QUOTE (kjshoe04 @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 06:33 PM) Uribe. Historically he's very good in September. Oh my Jermaine.

Awesome recovery by Javy. Loads the bases with nobody out and only allows 1 quasi-unearned run. Like I said a few days ago: there is not f***ing grace period for Joe Crede. Either he's close to his '05/'06 levels or he shouldn't be playing. He doesn't get 2-3 weeks to "find it".

Wow, what a joke. Get your head out of your ass Crede.

White Sox @ Red Sox 8-29
QUOTE (iamshack @ Aug 29, 2008 -> 01:16 PM) It suits right-handed pull hitters...not so much left-handed pull hitters. Luckily, Thome can hit the ball oppo over the Monster and bounce plenty high off it for doubles. Then this really should be Crede's breakout series. He's probably the most pull-happy power hitter the Sox have.

Nicknames (reprise)
I usually just call Cabrera "s***head" Examples: "Oh look, s***head's up. Anyone in the mood for a first pitch popout?" or "Oh look, s***head just olay'ed another grounder. That's gonna cost us 3 runs." I tend to call Bobby "fatty" but that's definitely a term of endearment. I've been calling Thome "Thumb" for about as long as I can remember. Podsednik definitely had the best nicknames, such as "Peter Pan", "Twinkle-Toes" and "Prancer".

Plan for Danks?
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 28, 2008 -> 07:35 AM) Out of curiousity, is there anywhere that actually lists his pitch totals from last year (more specifically to this point in the year) versus this year? Just off of the top of my head I am remembering a lot of starts where Danks went 100-110 pitches, but only made it 4-5 innings. This year he seems to usually be hitting the 100 pitch mark a couple of innings later, usually in the 6th or 7th. It doesn't seem like his pitch totals are going up at all, just his innings pitched. I imagine that stat about the increase in innings is more to do with extra wear and tear on the arm, but if he isn't really throwing anymore pitches, is he getting really anymore wear? Does anyone have the numbers to back me up, or to prove me wrong??? I really would like to know. 2007: 139 IP, 2407 Pit, 17.32 Pit/IP 2008: 160.7 IP, 2612 Pit, 16.36 Pit/IP 2007: 17.32 X 160.7 = 2783 Pit 2008: through 160.7 = 2612 Pit So yeah, John is throwing less pitches per inning pitched this season as compared to last. He's actually throwing more pitches per plate appearance this year (3.93) than last year (3.87) but he's facing less batter per IP this year (4.13) than last (4.47). So to sum it up nicely: 2007: 156 Pit/9IP 2008: 147 Pit/9IP

Loser
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 11:34 PM) Probably. Alexei had one hell of a month too but it doesn't even compare to Quentin. .302/.306/.552/.858 w/ 6 HR, 21 RBI and 1 BB for Alexei That's actually by far his lowest monthly OPS since May. .339/.500/.610/1.110 w/ 5 HR, 11 RBI and a 19:9 BB:K ratio for Konerko though that's only in 82 PAs.

QUOTE (Wanne @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 11:24 PM) What was the point of Griffey again?.... .324/.435/.486/.921 line over the past 2 weeks. Though he does have this nasty habit of falling down in CF.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 11:29 PM) Is there really even a race for MVP at this point? In my opinion? No, it's not even close right now.

Since there's no longer a catch all thread I'll just put this here. Carlos Quentin's line for the month of August is .338/.480/.714/1.194 So what do you think? Should I just start making the banner now?

Rockies put Taveras + Fuentes on waivers
QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Aug 27, 2008 -> 03:08 PM) Well, Kotsay got through to Boston, so I think the idea that nobody would get through to us may not be so. Mark Kotsay is old, expensive, injury prone and bad. Those sort of players will go unclaimed and be available if the Sox are interested. The young, cheap, productive ballplayers (any of the 3) won't make it to us.

Best 2009 draft prospects
QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Aug 26, 2008 -> 09:31 PM) So... We could get 1 pick for OC, 1 for Joe, 1 for Griffey, and the 1st and 2nd rounder we will already have? Cabrera: 2 Thome: 2 (if his option somehow does not vest) Crede: 1 Griffey: 1 (outside shot at 2, he did qualify as a type A for '06/'07) Uribe: 1 A shot at 3 first rounders and 6 sandwich/second rounders.
