  1. Dayton Moore says he's not trading David DeJesus.
  2. QUOTE(BearSox @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 10:21 AM) He's their best middle of the order hitter now... He has put up some very consistent numbers against lefties over the past 4 years or so usually with an OPS somewhere in the upper 700's to low 800's. Assuming he's not offered a starting gig somewhere (which I think he's looking for) he'd be an outstanding platoon partner with Richar.
  3. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 09:55 AM) Possible ideas on the trade rumor front: Garland to the mets The rockies may think about moving Holliday The Sox have called about Bill Hall as our SS Andru jones may be the actual CF target for the Sox According to the Denver post the Rockies are about to offer Holliday a 4 year $60M deal that he'll probably accept. I wouldn't want him anyway. He would cost WAY more than he's worth in terms of both talent to acquire him and money he'll get in any extension. (though he does have 2 arb years left so he'd have some time to not live up to expectations before he'd have to be extended.
  4. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 09:44 AM) Come on man, he was playing injured and went under the knife. Gargabe is a bit off... In terms of his value according to the Elias Sports Bureau he was garbage, the system doesn't give a s*** why you were terrible.
  5. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 08:23 AM) No he won't. If Crede plays the year and walks as a FA the Sox could get 2 high picks. If he is healthy and it appears he is, he is a better option than Fields. Fields working on his defense and a back-up to Thome and Konerko should something happen is not a bad thing. He is not going to give him away. I HIGHLY doubt it. Crede will have to have the best year of his career (~.900 OPS) in order to finish as a type A free agent and bring in 2 picks. There's a possibility that he finishes as a type B and brings in 1 pick though I doubt he will. Crede had a career year in 2006 and was garbage in 2007 he barely finished as a type B player, he was a few points away from nothingness. With 2007 counting towards his ranking after this year he's probably going to have to have a better season in 2008 than he had in 2006 in order to bring the Sox even 1 pick.
  6. Well this is kind of disappointing, from Rotoworld:

  8. QUOTE(Chombi and the Fungi @ Nov 8, 2007 -> 11:25 PM) So then what do you think we do? Do we sell high and if no problems ever occur, so be it? Or do we wait for his first struggles so the media can blame his arm and then have to sell low? Maybe we can still deal him in a Mike Sirotka fashion if that were to happen with Jenks. What will happen: The Sox will hold onto him and lock him up to a long term deal sometime between the end of the '08 season and the beginning of the '10 season. What I would do: Sell high, if there's a market for him (which there should be) I'd deal him away for 2-3 very good young players to fill a few holes then sign a closer in free agency. The closer is actually one of the easier roles to fill IMO.
  9. QUOTE(Vance Law @ Nov 8, 2007 -> 11:14 PM) Nice. Know what else I like? What's the difference between Hunter and Alphonso Soriano? Soriano will give you on average 8-10 more homers a year. In the past, steal 10-15 more bases, though he didn't do much after that leg injury. He's 1 year younger. Hunter, meanwhile plays gold glove defense in center. Hunter might be had for $75 million for 5 years. Compare that to Soriano's $136 million for 8 years, and it looks pretty good. He's listed as 1 year younger.
  10. QUOTE(Chombi and the Fungi @ Nov 8, 2007 -> 09:40 PM) I'd be ok w/ that gaping hole if it meant we landed a HOF bat. I don't think Jenks is going to turn into Rivera or Hoffman. Also, am I the only one concerned about Jenks arm? Doesnt he have like a screw holding it together or something? We all have voiced are complaint on Miggy's "weight problem" but I am much more concerned w/ Bobby's. I have no problem keeping Jenksy. I love the Michelin man. I do have my concerns with him and they outweigh Miggy's, both figuratively and literally. No
  11. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 8, 2007 -> 05:30 PM) Ahh I love it. More projecting from two months worth of stats. Fannnnn-tastic. Let's note that Jerry Owens' September BAPIP was .407(!). And for the best month that Jerry might ever have in his big league career, his OBP didn't even top .400 and his slugging percentage didn't even touch .375. Oh but right, it's not fair for me to cite slugging percentage because the (whack ass) reasoning that slugging percentage doesn't matter for a leadoff man. 2007 Twins Luis Castillo might just be Jerry Owens' ceiling (+50 SB or so and minus a few AVG points.)
  12. QUOTE(Cleats67 @ Nov 8, 2007 -> 05:28 PM) Sox should sign Luis Catillo for 2B and leadoff. Would come relatively cheap. Richar is not guaranteed the job, so sign Castillo. Plays havoc on the basebaths, gets on a lot, and plays a decent second base. Suprised no one is talking about him. Omar Minaya has pretty much vowed to re-sign him and from the sound of it Castillo likes the idea of staying with the Mets.
  13. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 8, 2007 -> 05:22 PM) That's not true. As far as Clement... yeesh, at least he 'bit the dust' after he signed that reasonably nice deal with Boston. He hasn't pitched for the better part of two years. What happened to him anyways? Elbow issues? Shoulder problems? He tore both the rotator cuff and labrum in his right shoulder.
  14. Hunter Interview from Earlier Today
  15. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 8, 2007 -> 03:16 PM) Did we ever learn more about his injury issue, though? He's supposed to be 100% by the start of the season.
  16. I'll take Kosuke Fukudome in one of the top 2 spots.
  17. Kenny Rogers is a Boras client.
  18. Where would Hunter hit in an order that includes Thome, Konerko, Dye and Fields? If the Sox added Scott they'd have 3 lefties in the lineup but it would be pretty much impossible to avoid batting 2 of them back to back. Scott Fields Thome Konerko Dye Hunter Pierzynski Uribe Richar
  19. He said a "little ghetto" came out of him after the play when the fans started berating him, he yelled back. It was a damn good interview, I've always loved hearing Torii talk he's a very interesting guy. He also said he refuses to play for a team with a centerfield wall that he can not climb. (ie: Wrigley, Boston, I suppose Houston, etc)
  20. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 03:52 PM) He would be a sub 4 ERA guy in the NL, prob lower in the NL central. Most definitely
  21. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 04:00 PM) Christ I just can't imagine a team that is already showing its age with slow sluggers adding a 33 year old centerfielder coming off a career year in what I could only imagine would be a 5 year deal. I get it, KW wants to compete in 2008, but a patchwork shot at .500 is going to cripple us for years to come. We should be unloading age, not bringing it on. He'll be 32 next year and his 2007 OPS was only 13 points higher than '06 and 20 points lower '02.
  22. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 03:56 PM) The sox are the type of team that would try to extend a player like that first. Just so everyone is familiar. Miggy would bring a 300+ BA .400+ OBP slg almost 1.000 around 30 hr and 100+rbi. Hes hit over 30 doubles the last 4 seasons topping off at 50 in 2006. Hes a damn good player, and should even improve his batting eye, as hes shown at least an improvement in walks and strikeouts. He tends to put up an OPS+ in the 150's. So you'll be getting production similar to '06 Dye (151), '06 Thome (155) and '07 Thome (150) except he's 24 years old and only getting better.
