  1. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 08:15 PM) Get some proven major league talent for these World Series championship players. My god, Philly was desperate. They get Iguchi; we get horses*** prospect. How many players drafted where that guy was ever make the big leagues? He could be another Buckwich for Iguchi ... my god. What a disgrace. Yeah, the Phillies were so desperate that they didn't even make the call to KW. He had to call them. Why would any team be desperate to add a .720 OPS 2B?
  2. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 08:15 PM) How do you know that? Maybe our GM just sucks. Ridiculous trade. What a joke of a GM. How did he win a World Series is what I want to know at this point. Because it only makes sense. What in the hell did you people expect to get back in return for the 3rd best 2B on the market? A player who can't even bring the team he's traded to any comp picks? Why would a team give up anything of value for Iguchi when they could have Loretta and Hudson and a similar price? Both of whom are better than Iguchi. Loretta will be at least a type B free agent and Hudson has another year of ARB left, they bring a whole lot more to the table than a 32 year old Iguchi who's putting up a .720 OPS w/ no speed, no power, playing terrible defense at the least important position on the field and WILL BRING NO COMPENSATION TO THE TEAM THAT RENTS HIM FOR THE NEXT 2 MONTHS. So what is more likely? 1.) Teams weren't willing to give up anything of value for Iguchi or 2.) Kenny Williams is the worstest GM everest?
  3. Ugh, Podsednik needs to go away. I can't stand to see him misplay anymore flyballs. And now he's showing off the puss arm.
  4. QUOTE(spiderman @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 08:14 PM) I think that's where we differ. I don't care if we got a bag of balls for Iguchi. I'm more concerned with seeing how Richar performs with the last 2 months of the season, and am hoping that he can provide us with at least decent production, and allow us to allocate more money in our budget to other areas of the payroll. Exactly.
  5. I think it's pretty f***ing obvious that there was absolutely no market for Tadahito Iguchi and knowing that how can anyone actually be about this trade?
  6. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 07:35 PM) why do you want to trade garland? I'd be in favor of trading him because he's about to make a s***load of money and dealing him could bring in 2-3 very talented, very cheap, very young players.
  7. QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 07:53 PM) It's already destroyed, trust me. If it were destroyed properly you wouldn't see it so damn often. I want to obliterate it.
  8. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 07:39 PM) you so clever I know You thought it was annoying before just wait until I get done destroying this lame ass joke.
  9. I heard the Sox are looking to trade for Carl Everett and Roberto Alomar.
  10. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 07:22 PM) Can we add "Richar called up" to the subject on this thread? done
  11. QUOTE(TheBigHurt @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 06:34 PM) Um, whoa. Who the hell is going to be our everyday 2B??? Fields is being moved to 2B, Konerko to 3B and Thome to 1B. I'd just like to be the first to welcome our new DH Jose Conseco back to the South Side!
  12. QUOTE(South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 06:14 PM) Any word on why Konerko has the night off? Stoneman requested he be pulled from the lineup while they finalize the deal.
  13. QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 06:09 PM) That's it? The Phillies just lost their starting 2B and got the best available 2B on the market for a single A player. Wouldn't we have gotten more by just letting Iguchi walk? (Note: I'm only on page 2, so maybe these things have been covered already) Iguchi was my favorite player on the Sox. 1.) Do to a clause in Iguchi's contract the White Sox would not have received any comp picks for him had he walked. 2.) He's not the best 2B on the market, Mark Loretta (.297/.373/.390/.763) is probably going to be dealt and whoever gets him will be getting comp picks back when he walks at the end of the year.
  14. QUOTE(Beastly @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 05:46 PM) I really hope Kenny doesn't have a hard on for trading with Philly and the Diamondbacks because none of those trades have panned out for us...yet. I'm sure KW couldn't have gotten anything better in return and I just want to see what this "stud" Richar has to offer us. I hope that more people are next to go, I just didn't expect Gooch to be the first guy to go. Maybe we owed them for the 'damaged goods' that we sent with Freddy this year. Is Richar expected in the lineup tonight? I'm also thinking Rowand is likely to stay in Philly and that he will not return to the White Sox this off-season. I'd say Vazquez has panned out pretty well. Giving the Sox a 3.76 ERA over his last 32 starts. And Richar will not be on hand tonight, the Sox will play 1 short. He should be starting tomorrow though.
  15. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 05:40 PM) Iguchi is a mjaor league player. I think I speak for the negativity when I say the player that was given to the Sox should have major league potential. It appears that KW seems to think building a AA team is what is required when trading at the deadline. There is no purpose to this deal. Unless you get a win outcome in the trade hold on to him. What is the purpose in moving him if there is no chance of improving your ballclub by doing so. This guy is not a prospect and there is no upside. Iguchi should have garned something there has a shot at doing something. Because now you can start your 24 year old 2B prospect for the next 2 months and find out if he's ready to hit major league pitching, if he plays well for the rest of the year it leaves you with one less whole to fill next season. Keeping Iguchi around for the final 2 months would do nothing for you at least with him off the roster you can start thinking about the future of the position a bit. Believe it or not there's not much of a market for 32 year old .720 OPS, mediocre defensive secondbasemen who are in their walk year. Out of the 6 tools (contact, power, plate discipline, speed, defense, arm) he has really only displayed 1 of them this season, plate discipline. While being beyond mediocre in 4 of the other 5 (speed being the exception, he's been decent in that aspect of the game.) It's a good trade in my book since we get to see Richar start in the big leagues for the next 2 months and we get something (no matter how minimal) for a guy who we would have gotten nothing for had we held onto him.
  16. QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 05:30 PM) Apparently we haven't been watching the same 2Bman. Iguchi was a good player and helped the Sox. We get a Class A prospect in return. Hum! He's been mediocre while playing the least important position on the field.
  17. Jesse Rogers just confirmed that Iguchi would not have brought in any compensation picks due to the clause in his contract.
  18. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 04:08 PM) I just don't get this... I'd rather have the draft pick. Couldn't they have at least gotten a really s***ty POSITION PLAYING prospect? There is no draft compensation for Iguchi.
  19. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jul 27, 2007 -> 04:08 PM) Kalapse, time to update your salary tracker. Indeed, it's going to get even more complicated since I have to include the money the Sox paid him over the past 4 months. This also opens a spot on the 40, since Richar is already on there it opens a spot for another player to be added.

  21. Nice haul for Texas. Max is 22 and in high A but the offensive ability seems to be there. Any time you can get a high upside player like Ramirez for a 40 year old rent-a-player you've done a good job. Ramirez BTW is the player the Indians received in return for Bob Wickman last year.
