QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 09:37 AM) Hacker group, it seems. According to the LA FOX affiliate, which means it's probably sensationalized and way over the top compared to reality. "Would you like some foam in your coffee? It's called a cup-i-kino and wait until you see what it costs."

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 31, 2007 -> 09:32 AM) 3 eastern, 2 central. buckle your safety belts. So ESPN is just lying when they say the deadline is 4ET? http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/index
-
Isn't the Deadline 4 pm ET? That would be 6 hours away.

So rumor has it Dontrelle Willis will be dealt to either the BoSox or Mets tomorrow. With Fernando Martinez being pulled after 1 AB (the Marlins have coveted him for over a year now) and Phillip Humber missing his start today (due to food poisoning ) I'd say there's a damn good chance he ends up a part of the Mets rotation. You just know Minaya will make a move to counter the Teix deal.
-
And since the Star reported that we've seen an MLB.com writer say it's not nearly as close to being done as some believe. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...rtnered=rss_mlb

Fernando Martinez - the Mets' 18 year old OF prospect currently playing for the GCL Mets (rookie ball) on what I believe is a rehab assignment - was pulled from tonight's game after only 1 AB. He went 1-5 w/ 3B yesterday in his return from the DL, he probably just reaggravated the hand injury that landed him on the disabled list or HE COULD BE ON HIS WAY TO CHICAGO IN EXCHANGE FOR A STARTING PITCHER!!!!11

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 11:04 PM) Ah Grasshopper, you are wrong... It IS N. Wacker and W. Randolph. Go a couple of blocks west and south. The whole "on Wacker, just north of Randolph" thing kind of threw me off since it's south of Randolph. So you're talking about 123 N. Wacker then.
-
I'd do Dye for Bourn, assuming of course that he's alright which he appears to be. I'd also do Podsednik for Dubee part II or Erstad for half a Philly cheese steak sandwich.

Iguchi Traded to Phillies for RP/SP Michael Dubee

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 10:37 PM) Saying and doing that is begging for nothing to happen. Do it tonight. You can do it if you want to waste an hour or so doing work that will likely be outdated within a few hours. -
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 09:16 PM) N wacker, not ew wacker most likely. Wacker turns and runs north and south and intersects with lake st. Yeah, that was supposed to take you to the Franklin and Lake which is right where Lake and N Wacker intersect, if you look that's where the green arrow is. I'm not really sure why it went a few blocks east like that. http://www.google.com/maps?q=W+Lake+St+%26...005021&z=18 I assume that's the building he's talking about.

QUOTE(RME JICO @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 10:12 PM) Kalapse, did you update your chart with the Iguchi trade? I'll update it on Wednesday when the smoke clears. Things could change quite bit in the next 16 and a half hours. -

QUOTE(elrockinMT @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 10:06 PM) Tad Iguchi was still worth more than a class A pitcher. The Phillies got a real good 2Bman with some power and ability to drive in some clutch runs. I am not impressed with whatever decision went into this move. There isn't much in the last year that has panned out for the Sox as far as trades and other signings are concerned and I think the Iguchi trade is just another example of real questionable player decisions. You're delusional. If the Castillo trade hasn't sufficiently convinced you that Iguchi had little to no trade value then I don't know what will. -

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 10:05 PM) I don't see anything wrong with Castillo, but he won't be on the Sox next year. Castillo is a solid player though, a fantastic defensive 2nd baseman (albeit he's aided by the turf). Nowhere near as good as he once was but again, I could give a s*** about his OPS when he's at the top of a teams order. Give me extra speed and good baserunning instincts over a ton of extra base hits and a lack of speed (not saying I wouldn't take those extra base hits, but I want a leadoff hitter with some wheels but he also has to have some other skills). So what happened to his speed then? 9 SB and 4 CS? He's going to have to start hitting some doubles if he's not going to steal any bases. -

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 08:15 PM) Iguchi had a solid June and has had a great OBP since the All-Star Break. No surprise to see him doing well with the Phills. And to go along with that .381 OBP since the break he put up a mediocre .380 SLG. -

.356 OBP, 14 XBH (11 2B, 3 3B), 9 SB and 4 CS. Ick. -
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 09:48 PM) Bourn's fast, that's about it. He had a terrible OPS his last year and a half in the minors. If we got him in a deal for Dye or Contreras, that's one thing. But no way should he be the main player in a deal for Garland or Vaz. .783 as a 23 year old leadoff man in AAA isn't exactly terrible (granted in limited ABs), he's shown a capability to work the gaps this year which is very encouraging and something that Owens has shown no signs of being capable of. He's still a project but I think he could turn into a pretty good top of the order guy. I just don't see the Sox going out and getting anyone that could hit worth a damn at the top of the order, at this rate Jerry Owens and his .600 OPS will likely be leading off next year, I'm not so sure I can tolerate that.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 09:39 PM) Bourn got hurt tonight, and he's nothing special anyways. I'm assuming that mound didn't do any damage and he will be fine of course. I just really don't want to see Pods, Erstad or Owens leading off next year, at least Bourn has some real talent.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 09:38 PM) The reports that the Phillies want Vazquez worry me, as those two teams have no problem finalizing trades. I definitely don't want to deal Vazquez but if the deal started with Bourn and Carrasco I'd definitely have to think about it if I were KW.

Hu flew out to right.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 09:19 PM) What was that sentence in regards to (Garland or Dye to the Dodgers??) Blanton to the Dodgers. I was going to quote Balta but his post has since disappeared.
-
The game has now begun and Hu is still in the lineup. And has now fielded a ground ball.
-
Another oddity with Las Vegas, Tony Abreu - their regular 2B - is not in the lineup tonight but rest easy, Ben Davis is behind the plate.
-
Las Vegas (Dodgers' AAA affiliate) starts their game in about 11 minutes and as of now Chin-Lung Hu is in the lineup, so there's that.
-
Well the Dotel for Kyle Davies trade which seemed completed is apparently far from it so we'll see. I can't see Colletti offering up his #1 prospect for an injury prone setup man especially with the way Saito and Broxton have been pitching all year. Dotel would be a nice get for the stretch run but not at that price.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 30, 2007 -> 05:58 PM) Yes, we have 38 on the 40 man. We have 2 people on the 60 day DL also, in Ozuna and Crede, so eventually, start of next season, we'll need a little bit more room. Bukvich, Phillips, Reynoso, Cintron, Erstad and Podsednik could all be dumped from the 40 today and I wouldn't shed a tear. Gonzalez and Terrero are also dangerously close and Contreras could be given away for a song for all I care. So that's over 25% of the 38 currently on the 40 man roster right there.
