QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 10:51 PM) I'll let Thome watch as well even though he won't have a chance in hell. 2nd highest OBP and 6th highest OPS in the game.
-
QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 05:04 PM) Except for Thome, they are all sucking this year, but comparing the track records of these players to Crede, only Uribe would suck like Crede. Seriously, Thome sucks this year??? I never thought I'd see the day where a guy with a 1.035 OPS is underrated by the fans but considering the amount of s*** that's tossed in big Jim's direction I'd say it's fair to pin the underrated tag on him.

I love the statistical breakdown of D-Rays pitchers currently at Durham, ESPN only giving us the most important of stats, W/L record and ERA. HIZZAH!

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 01:17 PM) I swear if they use 5 min for every pick, I won't make it to the Sox. I have to leave at 1:40 and won't be anywhere near any source of Sports News for the next 6 hours, at this rate I'm not even going to get to see the first 5 picks.
-
QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 01:16 PM) Does it really take five minutes to decide Price is the first pick? ESPN is in full control of this thing and it' sickening.
-
Why the f*** do the D-Rays need 5 minutes to decide who to pick? They've had a f***ing year to decide.
-
Ugh, it's already f***ing dragging. 5 minutes on the clock for the D-Rays? Why must ESPN destroy everything that is good in the world of sports?

What will it take to get Crawford?

QUOTE(IowaSoxFan @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 11:14 AM) I dont care, pay the price. Only guy that is untouchable to me is Danks. Everyone else can go. Then you're not getting him. -
QUOTE(iamshack @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 11:34 AM) Which is probably what led him to react that way. He probably has tried damn near everything and is running out of answers. There comes a point when nothing else can be done. Then it's probably time to just gut this team and start over, once it reaches the point where the Manager is having no effect on the team's play at all it's probably for the best to just start over from scratch.

QUOTE(WCSox @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 10:52 AM) With 20/20 hindsight, sure, Kenny should've dealt him. Perhaps it's hindsight to you but it's not to me. I was hoping for a trade all offseason, his back was a ticking time bomb and his stock was never going to be higher than it was coming off his career year in '06. Yes, yes I do. His offensive production has been mediocre for the majority of his career and even when he has a career year he can't even muster 30 walks. If I'm evaluating him for the future I'm looking at his health concerns and patterns in his offensive production and everything pointed towards a disappointing season in '07 which is something the Sox could not afford to get from him considering his pending free agency after the '08 season. His long loopy swings, his propensity for popping the ball up, the fact that he's one of the slowest players on a team full of old, slow guys, his inability to draw a walk, his inconsistency at the plate from month to month, the insane back problems that have physically crippled him time and time again at the ripe old age of 29, the fact that the Sox' #2 prospect just happens to play 3B and his looming free agency with Boras at the helm are just some of the reasons why I hoped 2006 was his final season with the White Sox. I've been comparing him to Ed Sprague for a while now and it looks like he's headed in the exact same direction Sprague was after he had his career year at age 28. KW should have done his damndest to deal him away for what ever package he could get when Crede disregarded the advise of his employer and sided with his agent instead (I'm not blaming him for siding with Boras, that's his decision to make it's just obvious that the Sox were not comfortable with him simply rehabbing the injury) and I said as much when it happened. -
Poll: Most Important Offseason Acquisition

I want a real leadoff man, someone who can get on base and avoid the DL. I don't think that's too much to ask. -
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 04:18 AM) Hello Jim from DesPlaines welcome to the Whitesox post game show. "Chris, how do you stand the crap we see. Its June, where is the offense. How the hell is this team not hitting. Is Greg Walker looking for a new job yet. I am a season ticket holder and I am sick of this crap....and" Well Jim, you know what will make you happy. A triple threats gift card. "A triple threats sports card? Chris you didnt answer my question. When is this team going to hit? Why is Greg Wa...." Well it seems that Jim got disconnected. I know its a common thing for fans to try and find blame. I talked to Greg Walker, the best hitting coach in the history of baseball earlier about it. And he reassured me that when the weather heats up, so will this team. This has been a perfect storm of injuries, unseasonably cold weather, and a large amount of Johan Santana like pitching we have faced. No other team has faced the challenges we have. But good news, we are a 2nd half team. Thats right sox fans. When you think of the 2nd half, you can count on a strong sox team pulling away. I like our position, and I agree with Jon Garland as we will run away with the division. Its not possible for the offense to go on like this. If you flip their cards they are all allstars. I fully expect each member of the team to hit 900 for the rest of the year, and pitchers should be afraid very afraid to face a team like this. Its a lion, about to pounce and tear a team up. It just gives me chills thinking about how many runs this team is going to put up. It could happen tomorrow, it could happen next month. Just remember to be patient, and keep coming to he park and it will happen. Next caller Unbelievable

He's actually been an outstanding LOOGY this year. Lefties are just 4 for 24 against him with one of those hits being double and the other 3 singles. He's also walked 1 while striking out 6. He should really only be used exclusively against lefties seeing as how righties are hitting .324 against him.

Where the hell is SSI71 when I need him? I know he'd have my back on this one.

QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 12:04 AM) because he lacks a basic sense of common courtesy and gets emotional while defending the company line Sounds like he's just a loyal White Sox fan, his defense of the Organization is quite admirable if you ask me.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 7, 2007 -> 12:02 AM) Guys....we're not getting anything for Crede now. He's the definition of damaged goods. Hence why I feel sick to my stomach. Last year should have been his last with the White Sox, the writing was on the wall with him there was no way he was going to make it through the 2007 campaign without his back taking him out for a few months. -
I think he's refreshing. His banter with the Sox fans after the games is usual quite in depth and enlightening, I find myself learning something new after every game it seems. It is truly great radio, I'm not sure why you dislike him so.

I feel physically ill. -
So wait, are we just skipping game 4 of the Yankees series? I've seen a few people mention Friday as the next game on the schedule so I'm legitimately confused here.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 10:37 PM) The problem with getting Crawford now is that he's going to be a FA in a few years. He'll make $5.25M next year then he has a team option for '09 worth $8.25M and another for '10 worth $10M. So if you trade for him now, he'll be under your control for the next 3 years at $23.5M which is very reasonable.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 03:27 PM) I agree that Young wouldn't come here because of the extension, but this is by FAR the worst year of his career. He's had 6 straight 200 hit seasons (IIRC... someone might want to double check me but I know it's a string of them) and I sure as hell would put my money down on a guy like that then the rest of the choke artists we have on the Sox right now. Michael Young is a damn good ballplayer, this year's stats notwithstanding. OPS+ of 74, 98, 106, 133, 106 since becoming a full time starter. That's a whole lot of time being spent around the slightly above average mark for a guy who's going to be making $16M a year 2 seasons from now and is locked up through 2013. Not to mention the fact that his career Home/Away splits are staggering. I understand that he's struggling this year and his numbers will likely even out as the year goes on and by the end of the season he'll have an OPS in the .800-.820 range but trading for a guy who has a monster contract and is struggling to get on base much like the rest of this lineup is not a good idea at this point in time. -

QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 02:56 PM) You assume Erstad is more hurt than reported? What kind of package would have to be put together to get Michael Young and Kenny Lofton? 1.) Why would they trade Michael Young just a few months after giving him a huge extension? 2.) Are you sure you want to deal for a 2B (yes he's a 2B) who's due $5M next year and then $16M per year for the next 5 seasons after that? He's also lighting the world on fire with his .269/.318/.408/.726 line. No thanks. 3.) Considering how things went the first time around I highly doubt Lofton will ever play for the Sox again. -
QUOTE(joesaiditstrue @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 01:18 PM) will fields scratch the lineup tonight, or are they going to put Cintron there instead? If he gets to the park on time (which he most definitely will) he'll be starting at 3B tonight.

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Jun 6, 2007 -> 12:21 PM) I wouldn't call Matthews "outstanding"...his OBP is only 12 points higher with only 9 stolen bases. His SLUG% is 120 points higher than Erstad's (that's 42 more TB, HUGE difference) to go along with the higher OBP and twice as many extra base hits. He's also playing terrific defense and has avoided the disabled list unlike Mr. Grindy. An .812 OPS from a great defensive CF who also gives you some good speed is one hell of an asset. He's also created 37 runs this year (4 less than Ichiro) compare that to Erstad's 19.
