QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 12:25 PM) This could be me not detecting sarcasm, but Aaron Fultz sure looks like a ltogy to me. (Lefty three out guy). Veteran lefty in teh bullpen, last year righties put up an .887 OPS against him and lefties put up a .662. It was sarcastic. I'm a fan of Fultz', the 7th inning is going to be a b**** today.

Pods, LF Erstad, CF Thome, DH Konerko, 1B Dye, RF Crede, 3B AJ, C Iguchi 2B Uribe, SS Sizemore, CF Nixon, RF Hafner, DH Martinez, C Blake, RF Dellucci, LF Peralta, SS Barfield, 2B Marte, 3B Garland Vs Westbrook A LOOGY's wet dream. So it's probably a good thing the Indians don't have one.

QUOTE(Reddy @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 11:59 AM) you mean in Cleveland and Minny where its JUST as cold... yeah... no i'm good with playing at home. Except they have a big ass dome in Minnesota.

QUOTE(watchtower41 @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 11:43 AM) Or maybe the fact that we had no chance to re-sign him, nor did we want to?? Is anything not Ozzie's fault with you? You should probably refrain from calling me out if you don't read all my posts. I guess that won't stop people from making gross assumptions about myself. What did that have to do with blaming Ozzie? I'm glad Garcia is gone and if Ozzie had a hand in pushing him out the door like I suspect he did then kudos to Ozzie on a job well done. The whole "I wish I could say what I have to say." comment has been talked about by every news outlet and the consensus is that he grew tired of Garcia and the 2 had a falling out. What's more annoying? People supposedly complaining about every thing Ozzie does or the people who b**** about the people who are b****ing about Ozzie? How does b****ing at the b****ers make you any more righteous?

QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 10:41 PM) In the other thread I said the 700K was nothing special, but today I think it looks much better. Also saw how the Cardinals game was widescreen. I actually uninstalled Mosaic yesterday out of frustration. Even at highest quality, the games looked like crap in the little squares, so has this improved? They look pretty damn good to me. I can make out the action just fine.
-
QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 10:06 PM) Do you have the premium package? Does the 700k really make a huge difference in quality? I can't wait until I re-work my subscription with mlb.tv to get the premium package... Yes I have Premium and yes it makes a difference especially the Cardinals game. They streamed the HD broadcast so it was a widescreen display with the 700K stream. Unbelievable. QUOTE(TLAK @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 10:10 PM) Mosaic is Awesome! I called my wife in to see it, she watched for little while said she'd see me in the fall. For the second day in, what with all the pirates and hackers trying to steal it or screw it up, it worked pretty good, IMHO. I think as time goes by, and the novelty wears off a little (and I can keep my hands off the damn buttons!) it will only improve and be a great passtime when the Sox are not playing. I don't think it will ever get old, it's a great program.
-
Mosaic is actually working today and is simply amazing. The player tracker is fantastic it's just too bad you can only input 30 players.
-
It seems Ozzie and Freddy had a falling out.
-
Tiny 5'9" Timo had to have been one of the smallest players to ever play 1B. You don't often see anyone under 6'0" play the position let alone 3-4 inches shorter than that. That really was horrific.
-
I'm currently watching the Rockies/D-Backs game thinking of how great Willie Taveras would look atop the White Sox lineup, the guy has legit track speed and some great instincts on the basepaths.
-
I think his biggest preference is old/experienced players over young/inexperienced players no matter what their talent levels, much like Dusty Baker but that's just my opinion.

QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 06:48 PM) Krivsky? I actually like Wayne Krivsky, the guy is doing a pretty damn good job in Cincinnati right now. That Harang deal is one of the best you're going to see. Atleast he's identifying his most productive players and doing everything he can to keep them around.

Possibly but I'm already walking a thin line saying I'm superior to 2 GMs, if I add a 3rd I'm basically guaranteeing a fight. My biggest assets as a GM would be my complete lack of an ego, not hiring a bunch of f***tards as my assistants and no real desire for a legacy. If you surround yourself with the right people and avoid becoming attached to your players you should be able to get by. Hell if the Lightning can have an illiterate GM, I feel I have a shot. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 06:35 PM) that's so easy, I think 50% of the people on this board could do a better job than Bavasi. Well, 50% is a lot, but there are a ton of people on here who could do the same or better job than Bavasi. Well he's turned a perennial powerhouse into a laughing stock despite having a massive payroll, at the worst they'd break even with you or me as the GM.
-
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 06:26 PM) would have to guess Bavasi Give me a $106M payroll and I'll kick Bavasi's ass, I'm pretty sure he's partially retarded. The man has NO clue. So yeah it was Bill.

It was Uribe.

QUOTE(knightni @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 06:20 PM) Bowden. Now that you mention it, 28 GMs.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 05:08 PM) I think about half of Soxtalk just creamed their shorts. Why? This isn't the first time he's said something like this. How is this any different than what he did in '05? It's just the opposite ploy, in '05 it was "if we win the World Series I'll retire "now it's "if we lose fire me." I stopped caring about the s*** he says long ago. His words hold no validity with me. QUOTE(SleepyWhiteSox @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 05:54 PM) Probably the same delusional half that think they'd make way better major league managers than him... As someone who is considered an "Ozzie hater" I'll speak for the group as a whole and say I do not think I'd make a better manager than Ozzie Guillen. There are currently 30 managers and 29 general managers in Major League Baseball who are doing a better job than I could currently do.

QUOTE(WCSox @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 01:12 PM) Jenks was also throwing low 90's just a couple of weeks ago in Tucson. He also hit 97-99 in a several save opportunities last summer. You're right, we should all panic now because Jose failed to hit 94-95 in the first game of the season. Since when is being concerned the same as panic? No need for hyperbole. The guy hasn't thrown 95 MPH consistently since hitting the DL last May, it's not just his first start of the year.
-
Kerry Wood - $ 12M Greg Maddux - $9M Juan Pierre - $5.75M Glendon Rusch - $2.75 Neifi Perez - $2.5M Todd Walker - $2.5M Jerry Hairston - $2.3M Tony Womack - $2M Scott Williamson - $2M
-
Jenks was throwing mid 90's for the great majority of last season so if he's hitting that right now then he's not down at all from last year. Jose was in the mid 90's as of April of 2006 he seemed to lose about 5-6 MPH off his fastball after the back injury in early May of last season, it has now been almost an entire year since he first went on the DL and he has yet to regain that same velocity.

I can understand why Singleton would be uncomfortable in the booth with Farmer, the man's ego probably has Chris pinned in the corner of the room. Farmer just has one of those personalities that could put an inexperienced broadcaster like Singleton uneasy, he commands the booth and doesn't seem to even want to interact with Singleton for most of the broadcast. It's probably what makes Farmer such a brutal broadcaster. A Jackson/Singleton television crew like we saw in spring training would be fantastic though, those 2 guys have amazing chemistry when together. A Stone/McDowell booth on the radio could probably work out pretty well too, you wouldn't have a set play by play guy but you'd have 2 guys who are incredibly knowledgeable and comfortable announcing a game just kind of telling you what's happening on the field.

QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 05:52 PM) Grinderstad is making 750K this year Darin Erstad-OF- White Sox Jan. 25 - 1:38 pm et Darin Erstad will be guaranteed $1 million under the terms of his deal with the White Sox. He'll make $750,000 this year. The club option for 2008 will be worth $3.5 million and could increase to as much as $6 million if he gets 600 plate appearances this season. A $250,000 buyout is included. Good call. Updated: http://img58.imageshack.us/img58/7007/soxp...ctsheetiyi1.jpg

QUOTE(WCSox @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 10:54 AM) Didn't Santana go 1-3 last April? Debating whether or not JC is an "ace" or not obviously depends on one's definition of the word. But I think we can all agree that one bad outing doesn't mean that he sucks or that he's done or that he's a financial albatross now. The Comcast gun is garbage. The Gameday gun had Jose at 92-95 yesterday and Sabathia at 93-96. If he's throwing as hard as Sabathia with limited ST innings under his belt (i.e., his arm isn't fully-conditioned yet), I don't see a reason to panic. The Cell gun also had him in the high 80's low 90's. Jhonny Peralta this morning said that Contreras was throwing with a lot less velocity than he normally has.
-
The actual number is about $10M less with when you factor in cash considerations. That would put the Sox at 9th in baseball.
-
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 10:53 PM) I didn't see him throw a single fastball that wasn't either a foot out of the zone or right down the middle. Jose's whole game is based on arm angles and location, and both of them were off today, which is why the lower back idea came into my mind. If you watched Jose last year, you'd know his fastball altered between the high 80's and low 90's almost all year (I do, I charted a few of his games even early in the year, during the streak). He simply had no location of anything, which means he either thought he was on the Yankees again, had one epic bad day, or isn't healthy. I just went back and checked a few games from the beginning of last season (pre injury). The best indicator was the April 29th game @ Anaheim, the FSN West gun had him throwing 94-95 and Kelvim Escobar at 91-92. So yeah before Contreras went on the DL at the start of May last season he was throwing in the mid 90's and most of those were coming from the dropped down arm slot. I don't remember him topping 93 today, a Contreras sitting at 89-90 MPH is not going to fool anyone no matter what angles he's throwing at you. I'm just hoping he had some bad seafood before the game today.
