QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 07:21 PM) ha. he probably could too but hes so valuable coming off the bench. how about someone like ronnie belliard? i liked him a lot when he played with cle. Ronnie Belliard is a step away from being out of baseball, by next year you may never hear his name again. Good riddance.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 10:35 PM) His stuff was fine but his release was a little off, causing the control issues IMO. That is a sign the lower back is still a problem (also IMO), which is a big problem. I'm not too worried overall since he sabotaged the game by himself, nobody else looked awful or anything (not even Masset, just was a bit nervous). When the Cell gun and the Comcast gun have Jose clocked in the high 80's and low 90's, his stuff is not fine. He didn't get a single fastball past a hitter today, that's a pretty clear indication of s*** stuff to me.

IMO, Stoney and Singleton were the one bright spot in today's game. I think today proved that Singleton actually has some potential as an announcer and Farmer is holding him back at this point. He seemed more relaxed with Stoney, they were interacting well and Singleton was actually providing some solid commentary. I think Chris just gets a little uneasy around Farmer. If the Sox went to a permanent booth of Singleton/Stone, I'd never listen to Hawk again.

Ozuna Will Start in LF Tomorrow, Opening Day

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 07:43 PM) That could always just be a function of the fact taht Dye only hit 3rd for less than a month. There was an implication that Dye had a good amount of his success from last season in the 3 hole when that just is not true. I'd have Dye batting 3rd but what the hell do I know? -

QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 07:35 PM) i dont get why ozzie insists on keeping the lineup the same. if its a lefty pitchin, dye should be batting 3rd, if its a righty, then dye. or u could just leave dye batting 3rd, he did it last yr. apparently he didnt do to bad. Last year Dye was actually better hitting 4th or 5th than he was hitting 3rd. -

QUOTE(WCSox @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 04:58 PM) That's because he kept falling behind in the count, was forced to throw it, and the hitters knew exactly what was coming. I have no idea if he's playing through an injury or not, but it would seem strange that his back would act up so early in the season. And his stuff was fine (speed, movement), so I wouldn't say that he's "done" just yet. He's only under contract for one more year. Why do I even make the Contract Sheet if no one is going to use it? -

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 02:14 PM) Where were the Indians ranked in runs scored last year? Also, I've said this all along, but Masset will be back in AAA by June. They had 870, second in baseball behind the Yankees. -

QUOTE(longshot7 @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 01:53 PM) is this Wrongey or Steve Stone on commentary? It's Stoney. He and Singleton have been the only good thing about this game thus far. -

QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 01:46 PM) I thought both pitchers were throwing in the 91 mph range. All you have to do is judge the swing that the players are taking. This is horrific though....spring training has carried over. Honestly, I almost hope he is throwing 91 because if he is throwing in the mid 90's there's something seriously wrong with the Count. His fastball has no life what so ever and is easily his most hittable pitch. -

New position players tend to perform on Opening Day, I love it.
