  1. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Mar 30, 2016 -> 04:01 PM) So they get assets back rather than just the money. Sometimes teams prefer to pay a little freight and get back an A ball reliever or whatever. Teams also put guys on waivers all the time to judge interest and then yank them back if they can't work out a trade. But if they waived him and DFA I'm pretty sure they can't pull him back off. Revocable waivers are used in August, if Loney were placed on waivers prior to the season beginning it'd be an unconditional release waiver. The Rays will try to work out a trade the next few days, if they can't then they'll designate him for assignment, buying them another 10 days to work out a trade without wasting a roster spot, within the first 7 days of of the DFA he can be placed on waivers, he cannot be pulled back, the claiming team is on the hook for his salary and if he goes unclaimed he becomes a free agent.

QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 24, 2016 -> 03:57 PM) i just watch the first 2 esp of a series called Lucifer. not bad and i like it. i went and heard the soundtrack on youtube and there is some really great songs. i need to catch the rest of it over the weekend. Dude, you're stuck in the past. Time to move on.
  3. Will be revisiting the Larry Sanders Show in his honor over the weekend. He was a pioneer, the father of modern comedy and satire.
  4. Do you suppose Eaton has any idea how badly he embarrassed both himself and the locker room this morning? Does he have even a shred of self awareness?
  5. QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 09:07 PM) Deadspin still is solid, and I actually really enjoy their video game site in the network, Kotaku. Also, Will found a good home Kotaku is excellent, Deadspin, Kotaku and io9 (to a lesser extent) are frequent reads for me. And yes, Will is in a good place.
  6. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 09:06 PM) Deadspin has been mostly garbage since Leitch left, IMO, and that was awhile ago. What sports/sports media sites do you frequent that are better? Legitimately curious.
  7. So, do you suppose we'll ever have true transparency on this saga? Will we ever really know the timeline of events? At this point it's all so muddled and f***ed with nothing but contradictory media reports and innuendo to go on that it feels like we may never know exactly what happened here. We can guess to the best of our ability, connect the dots and put together a decent picture of this descent into madness but I fell like we may never know what truly transpired. I suppose the next shoe to drop is Jerry addressing the team and the subsequent media appearances, should be interesting.
  8. QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 08:50 PM) Ironic this is Deadspin gold material.....yet nothing on the site... Which is actually kind of surprising? I kind of expected them to at least have a blurb on this, Gawker has been posting leaks to the live broadcasts of the trial since the get go, I figured they'd at least throw up a half-assed post about losing. I suppose at this point it's all moot. Denton's gonna have to sell off assets to cover the $115M while he appeals so it feels like a sinking ship, no reason to be consistent at this point. I just hope Deadspin finds a good home, while I have my reservations with the site they're still solid, especially compared to the alternatives. I miss Leitch, even if he did invite in the eventual downfall that was Daulerio.
  9. QUOTE (Real @ Mar 18, 2016 -> 08:44 PM) and about half of the remaining 500 fans. there couldn't be a more idiotic decision made. . Well, while I think the idea of trading Sale now over this stupid s*** is ridiculous, if he actively defies Reinsdorf they may not have a choice. Reinsdorf is the most loyal owner in all pro sports, I trust him to handle this in the proper manner, in the crazy, hypothetical scenario where Sale MF's him, there's really no coming back from that. Sale is a f***ing incredible talent that makes White Sox baseball palatable even when the team is s*** but he's not bigger than ownership.
  10. Daulerio did them in by acting like a f***ing child at his deposition. Not sure what he was trying to accomplish other than entertaining himself but condoning the publishing of child porn while under oath lost them the case on the spot.
  11. Whelp, this story has officially jumped the f***ing shark.
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Mar 17, 2016 -> 07:53 PM) Well if you signed a contract to work somewhere based on an agreement that a condition be fulfilled, and then than condition was no longer fulfilled, wouldn't you want to reconsider your agreement to work there? I mean this isn't rocket science. It doesn't necessarily lead to a legal conclusion, as Badger pointed out, but one can certainly see why the parties behaved as they did. All that's left is people who want to comment on the character of the parties or weigh in on who they believe was in the right or wrong. If my working there was 100% contingent on this specific condition being fulfilled, no exceptions, then that condition would be written into the contract.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 07:19 PM) If Jose Anreu or Chris Sale brought their kid to the clubhouse every day this spring and Brett Lowry didn't like it, do you really think KW would have done the same thing? That is the one question to me is most important. KW talked about being fair, but I think, and perhaps incorrectly, LaRoche's status as a player had something to do with this. Just want to point out that, typo not with standing, this is an impossibility and you should feel bad for even suggesting as such.
  14. QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 11:14 PM) Doesn't this almost make LaRoche look worse? There was an agreement. Things can change. They had a discussion, apparently a week ago, and LaRoche continued to bring his son into the clubhouse every day. Another conversation is had, and LaRoche picks up his ball and goes home? Circumstances change in business every day. Especially when that agreement isn't built into his contract.
  15. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 11:02 PM) David KaplanVerified account ‏@thekapman 13m13 minutes ago Do not believe for 1 sec Adam LaRoche is in wrong. After doing my homework I promise you Sox said Drake could ALWAYS be around. idiot. So, realistically, why would Kaplan be so firmly in LaRoche's corner on this? Aside from meat company thing that Fathom is mentioning that I'm not at all familiar with. He's being incredibly aggressive on this topic.
  16. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 10:59 PM) Hey man, don't question his "phenomenal source." Soon he'll be defending his dick size and calling the Sox org "Sad!".
  17. QUOTE (Tony @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 10:35 PM) Kal, did you watch the latest Broad City? So many good one liners, especially in the 1st 10 min. Another stellar opening scene, the woman falling down the steps, possibly dead by the end with the couple using the selfie stick was great. Fantastic episode.
  18. God, I f***ing hate Kaplan. Of course this s*** would come from him.
  19. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 10:03 PM) Was it in writing? No
  20. QUOTE (venom4789 @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 07:45 PM) I still dont understand why people are upset about this. His boss told him not to bring his kid as much and laroche said fine he quits. I like this post.
  21. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 06:44 PM) Ok, so let's just throw this out there... Did Kenny act alone and get the exact reaction he wanted? I don't think there's any chance.
  22. QUOTE (greg775 @ Mar 16, 2016 -> 06:24 PM) I'm gonna comment first, then read all your comments so to not let them influence me. Yes I despised LaRoche perhaps more than any other player in Sox history. But now, after reading Kenny Williams wouldn't let him bring his son to the clubhouse every day, I have changed my tune. I would gladly see LaRoche hit .150 with 80 percent strikeouts if it meant bringing him back to stick it up Kenny's backside so to speak. What a chicken s*** thing to do to LaRoche. Players bring their kids all the time to clubhouses. Very sad. Wonder if this will hurt the Sox in the future trying to sign guys. Again, I thought LaRoche was a pathetic hitter and I even despised his beard, but after reading this? Let him come back and bleep you, Kenny. FAMILY OVER EVERYTHING Not every f***ing day.
  23. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 15, 2016 -> 10:51 PM) Hey, someone finally listened to greg and retired. Someday we'll be able to +1 posts, that day you shall receive a gift from me, my friend.
  24. Yeah, I'm down with Morneau for a few million plus substantial incentives. It's a solid fit at this point.
  25. Rongey's on the Score right now, says he's hearing that LaRoche just doesn't want to play baseball anymore. This sounds about right and if that's the case I really hope he sticks to his decision.
