I've never really understood how Canada produced Brett Lawrie, just doesn't seem right.

QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 8, 2015 -> 12:48 AM) Deal never made sense but since it was a beat writer I went with it It actually did if teams value Baez's defense as much as pundits/online scouts do. A lot of people were counting Miller out after his '14 season, saw that trade as a loss for the braves.

I also HATE the idea of Cespedes at $190m+. That'll be a bad contract real fast.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Dec 7, 2015 -> 11:25 PM) I continue to believe it doesn't make sense to target guys based on traditional batting order roles. The most important thing is that a "good hitter" will be added somewhere in the first four slots. Using that logic, Heyward is clearly better, as he adds a left-handed threat (the one LaRoche was supposed to add) and substantially improves the defense at the same time. Yes, this, yes. A great way to waste precious time and recourses is to chase the antiquated lineup "fit", when in reality you should be looking for substantial improvements in whatever form they present themselves. Just because Heyward is going to maybe hit a dozen HR less than you'd like when attempting to supplement this power starved offense, doesn't mean you overlook how much of an upgrade he is in every other facet of the game compared to other options. In my mind he actually draws comparisons to the offseason's hottest geezer in Zobrist, minus some of the defensive flexibility. He's the wise pickup of the offseason, even if he commands the highest position player payout.

Was targeting Blash as my AAP back in '07 strictly on name alone but, unfortunately he did not sign.

It's an incredibly involved, deep game. I can't imagine never playing a Fallout game before and jumping into Fallout 4, it'd be massively overwhelming especially with how poorly the game explains it's mechanics, often not explaining them at all.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 17, 2015 -> 07:36 PM) Without Power Armor? Impressive. I love what they did with the new power armor but I feel like I'm never going to use it unless I absolutely have to. I tend to favor light, agile, stealth builds for quick maneuvering and lots of inventory space, the power armor is just too clunky for me. I think it may have been a legendary Ghoul of some sort I killed that dropped metal leg armor that increased my speed by 10% which is super cool, if you see any legendary enemies, even if it's going to be a really tough fight give it a shot because they drop some really cool s***, random armor/weapons with special abilities.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 18, 2015 -> 09:22 AM) Yeah, that took me a LONG time. It was a combo of moltov's and Rightous Authority for me, but there has to be an easier way. Now that I have a Fat Man, whenever I encounter one of the "super bosses" in the game (wait until you meet "Swan"), I go and pick it up from my workbench, and end things pretty quickly. Swan was f***ing cool! Took me like 10 minutes to take him down, easiest way is to lure him out of the pond into the city streets where you have more cover and s*** to get in his way.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Nov 11, 2015 -> 08:56 AM) That's where they attacked me. They also have rabid mole rats now. They are harder to kill. Yeah, it was a rabid bastard who got me at the movie theatre. Also, the new perk chart is intimidating as hell.
-
The molerats are a b**** early on, ambushed me at the red rocket and killed me and dogmeat at the drive-in theater, they burrow underground now which leads to sneak attacks.

Yeah, this is a great game. I've been playing for hours and feel like I've done nothing, it's almost intimidating in it's size and robustness. The crafting system is going to be cool once I figure it out, it's just way to much to take in on the first day, ridiculously deep. I'm excited to explore the 99.99% of the wasteland I haven't touched yet, what I've seen so far is exactly what I'd hoped. I actually haven't run into any bugs so far but there are a few negatives; the facial animations are still really bad, Bethesda can't design a 3rd person camera worth a damn and I'm not sure how I feel about the new dialogue system, the old branching format that allowed you enter a branch of dialogue then return back to central point and enter a new branch is gone, they've moved to a more linear system where you choose one dialogue option and the conversation rolls from their, I kinda feel like I'm missing out. Aside from that it's been all good, the voiced protagonist is solid IMO and the story actually seems interesting.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 10, 2015 -> 12:52 PM) What's the verdict, Kal? Just got off work and popped it in, updating now. I'll report back in a few hours.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 04:28 PM) While I don't expect it to be perfect, I'm going to wait on Fallout for a few weeks since it's a single player game and hope some patches at least fix most of the early problems. I'm still on board with Star Wars BF, which is all multiplayer and about leveling up against the competition, so that may take up most of November for me, then head into Fallout. Can't wait for both. I waited on both FO3 and FNV, I can't wait on this one. The good news is, reviewers who have spent a good amount of time with the game hasn't reported any game breaking bugs so far, just the usual Bethesda jankiness and physics issues which I can live with, I'd prefer not have to to but these kinds of things were never fully patched on counsel versions of the last 2 games so even waiting may not cure all ills so I'm diving in on launch day.

Went with the PS4 version of Fallout 4 and look forward to deeply regretting this decision when my game crashes after an hour of play. At least if it's REALLY bad I can just download the steam version and return the PS4 version to Amazon and face minimal Fallout downtime.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 08:56 PM) I had GOTY addition as well. It really started to happen when you go to that weird island/swamp with the crazy guys in overalls, the game became almost unplayable with all the freezing. It's funny too because the RPG components of Fallout have never appealed to me in other games, but I just love the Fallout series. And 4 looks amazing. Yes! That was the DLC, I spent hours in that hillbilly world collecting every last scrap of crap over many, many hours but actually quit the game for good without returning to the wasteland because it was crazy broken. Now I'm leaning toward PC, it's just not nearly as engaging to me as playing on the big screen and PS4. The only othe rEPG I got into was Witcher 3 and I loved that game but I put in not even half the hours I did fallout 3.

QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Nov 3, 2015 -> 08:15 PM) I don't have this issue since I don't game on PC, but I'm glad you mentioned about the bugging on consoles, my PS3 version of Fallout 3 started to freeze on almost every play 20-30 minutes in once I got deep into the game. It was so frustrating, since I grew to adore that game. I have to go PS4 and hopefully it's clean, but history says something different. Yeah, I waited and grabbed the game of the year edition and had the same issues, crazy frustrating when you grind for an hour through deathclaws and super mutants, grab all kinds of awesome loot and have the game freeze on you when you return fire on a band of raiders. f*** did that piss me off but still totally worth it, no other game has ever grabbed me quite like fallout 3.

I can't decide which version of Fallout 4 I should shell out for. PS4 is just easier and generally preferred but previous Fallout games have shipped borderline broken on consoles, PC is obviously superior for the FPS elements, though with the VATS system that holds less value. It's the modding that really has me torn, I know they're committed to making modding on the PS4 robust but it'll never be able to contend with the PC mod community and the modding is going to be INSANE with this game given all the new crafting elements they've added. I'M CONFUSED AND RUNNING OUT OF TIME!

This Toronto crowd is awesome when they're not being f***ing idiots. -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 15, 2015 -> 08:49 PM) Three seconds is a complete stop. I'm amazed at how 'nobody' comes to a complete stop but me now in this town. It's pretty insane. I just wish the cop was honest with me. "I could let you off, bub, but it's the end of the month, start of a new month and you know what I'm talking about." Serious question. Do you even know how to drive a car? I'm guessing no.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 14, 2015 -> 10:57 AM) Passan is full of it. Disregard the box, and look at the dots. His calls were all over the place during the same ABs. Except TBS's plotting was also quite bad. Pitch F/X shows the true story, aside from a few strikes called balls and an extended plate inside to LHH (very common) Mark Carlson was very good yesterday. Nothing there that jumps out at you. The Grimm V Pham AB is the one that really stuck out as bad on the TBS strikezone, there were back to back pitches that showed in identical locations one called a ball the other called a strike. Here's the pitch F/X plot for that AB. It shows the called strike just catching the zone and the called ball missing the zone.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Sep 8, 2015 -> 05:12 PM) I like this. The problem most people have with ERA is the whole defense behind the pitcher argument. But some might argue from a more presidential position: Did it happen on your watch or not? Except ERA DOES attempt to account for the defense behind a pitcher. That's what the 'E' in ERA stands for, it just does a really poor job of it. If you're going to attempt to quantify for what X pitcher alone is responsible why not remove as many variables as possible rather than just accounting for errors and inherited runners scored?
