I've got a great feeling about this.

ugh, 20 minutes straight of voting. At a vote per 5 seconds that would be a total of 240 votes over the course of 20 minutes.

QUOTE(Linnwood @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 04:24 PM) I hope AJ doesn't lose by 5 votes, or that post will have cost him! I have to give my wrist regular breaks.

I've got it down to a vote per 5 seconds.

QUOTE(WCSox @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 02:45 PM) Sadly, Javy seems to be even worse in this category. Then I guess that Buehrle is toast as well, because that's right around where he maxes out. Freddy's fastball isn't the problem (he's in the 89-92 mph range most of the time) - he gets into trouble when he can't locate his hook and falls behind in counts. Buehrle is a control pitcher though, he has amazing natural life to his pitches which allows him to throw 86 but Freddy is just not cut out to be a control guy. If he doesn't have that 94-95 MPH heat to get him out of the tough situation, he's not going to be all that successful. His inconsistency has been proof of this. Buehrle can throw a fastball through a teacup with his insane control, Freddy just doesn't have that kind of command. Also Freddy is more in the 87-90 MPH range, he can reach back for 92-93 but it seems like he's sitting around 87 now a days.

Well, they probably have the worst pen in all of baseball right now, Weathers, Yan and Merker aren't exacly world beaters. He's probably their best arm now, maybe outside of Coffey.

GAME THREAD 7-6-06 SOX vs Orioles
Kalapse replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in 2006 Season in Review
QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 12:55 PM) Whoa, they're pitching Ortiz? I didn't realize they actually signed him. I thought it was just speculation. How did Ortiz pitch against us in that series last year? That was the game where he was so bad he came down with Cliff Politte/Glendon Rusch/Mark Mulder disease and was DL'd for a significant period of time. I remember Uribe hitting a big 3 run HR off him and Frank going deep as well. He was absolutely horrid. Yep, I just checked. His outing Vs the Sox last year was less than spectacular. (L) 5.1 IP, 7 H, 9 R, 7 ER, 3 HR, 1 BB, 3 K -
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 02:26 PM) Or you can just highlight the validation code, copy and paste it into the text box, then click vote again, then click alt+left arrow and do the same thing all over again. If you're using firefox and have the autofill feature on, the alt+left arrow deal is not even necessary.

Don't stop voting or anything but at this time I'm pretty damn confident that AJ is going.
-
Well, I can pretty much gaurantee an AJ Pierzynski victory at this point in time.

QUOTE(SoxFan76 @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 02:14 PM) So you want to ban other people because you were being a dick? I think that's why I was banned for a week. I still don't know exactly why I was banned, today is my first day back. But I think I said a mod was being a dick, so he banned me. That's how I got banned from the other site too. I think the mod selection processes need to be a little stricter on White Sox sites! More of a general thought, there's a lot of s*** that's posted in Trade Winds that really has no value to it.

QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 09:30 PM) Still, even if they won the rest of their games they would have only finished with 98. They only played 144 games in '95 meaning the season was shortened by 18 games so they could have won as many as 108 games that season. QUOTE(knightni @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 02:28 AM) The '94 season was the strike season. '95 was shortened as well.

Life With Hendry One of the best they've ever done.

QUOTE(rackemup @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 01:50 AM) 13 pages is a lot to read through, so do not punch me instead of AJ if this has already been posted I was just punching AJ and got tired of typing things in and realized that hitting the backspace button returned me to the last page with everything filled out except the validation code. I then realized that you do not even need the right validation code for it to accept your vote. It let me keep voting without ever even changing the number. So I am pretty sure that you can just vote, click your backspace key, vote again, hit backspace key, vote, ect... This seems to make voting go a lot faster Any votes without a proper validation code will be thrown out no matter what screen you get after voting. Going back instead of hitting vote again seems to be a decent plan though. I have a feeling that thousands of votes will not be counted in this thing because people are just putting random numbers in the validation code box, it's a shame really.

QUOTE(Greg Hibbard @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 12:31 AM) A question for the ERA stat stranglers Are 8-6 wins worth less than 2-0 wins in the World Series? If you have a starter who goes out there and gives up 5-6 runs every start he can not be expected to win s*** for you in September or October when generally the games start to get lower scoring and you see a lot more 3-2, 2-0 games. an 8-3 record with a mid 5 ERA is fun during the regular season and all but that run support tends to diminish as you go deeper into the season. Would you rather have a starter like Garland who's 8-3 w/ a 5.30 ERA/1.38 or a guy like Dan Haren who has a .500 record but a 3.40 ERA/1.11 WHIP going for you in a big game? A pitcher's record is more indicative of his the run support he's receiving and the general quality of his team's offense than the quality of his pitching. Eventually that luck runs out and his 5 ER, 9 H performances are going to lead to losses in big games.

QUOTE(My Dixie Normus @ Jul 6, 2006 -> 12:39 AM) This guy just stole home and he could have done it standing up. I would gladly part with Pods and Garland for him. He would be a fixture in left and at the top of the order for a long time. I hate to give up Garland and would rather deal Josh Fields if it could be done but... They'd laugh at either offer. They have 0 use for Garland and even less for Pods. No BMac, no Crawford.

QUOTE(T R U @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 10:56 PM) Terrible comparison It's not a comparison, it's a pitcher with a very high ERA but a great W/L record who only lasted in baseball for 2 years. It's an attack on the W/L philosophy not Jon Garland. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 10:55 PM) Ah yes, having confidence in a player depends soley on their performance over a short period of time. Mmmm Hmmmm Yep
-
Anyone know what Jeroime Robertson is up to these days? QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 10:53 PM) Wow, where were all these positive comments a couple of weeks ago? He wasn't throwing this good a few weeks ago.

Hermanson could be back by the end of the month...
Kalapse replied to bjm676's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If Hermanson does end up comming back this season and is thrust into the pen after a couple rehab appearances he will end up losing atleast 1 game for the Sox. Ozzie is going to use him in some big situations just like he has with Cliff and Dustin is going to get absolutely smoked. He had a great year and he played a large part in the success of the team but I just hope he stays away from the Sox this season. -
QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 04:31 PM) it's hard to believe Jon is 7-3 considering the way people talk about him. I think Jon has pitched very well of late and i hope he can keep it going tonight! Rip Em!! Scott Elarton would have a 7-3 record if he were getting the kind of run support Garland's benefited from this year.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 03:29 PM) Just wondering, who is everyone voting for in the NL? Nomah
-
YOU CAN USE THE SAME EMAIL FOR ALL YOUR VOTES, THERE IS NO LIMIT.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 03:00 PM) If you think for one second that fans of other teams would vote for the more deserving player if the situations were reversed, you're dead wrong. Since when is the ASG about the most deserving player anyway? From what I remember it's always been about the coaches of the teams whoring off thier own players and the every player from the Yankees and Red Sox starting the game. Johan Santana, Kenny Rogers, Jose Contreras, Mark Buehrle, Scott Kazmir, Barry Zito, Roy Halladay, Bobby Jenks, Jonathan Papelbon, Mariano Rivera, BJ Ryan. Now when exactly is Francisco Liriano going to pitch? If you put yourself in Ozzie's shoes for one second and just think the way he does, how can anyone say that Liriano will even make an appearance in the game. Liriano is 22 and great, he has his the whole rest of his 16 year hall of fame career to pitch in All-Star Games, this is probably the one oppertunity the Sox fan have to give mad props to AJ for being a major factor in bringing the organization a title last year.
-
God damn, it makes no sense for any Sox fan to vote for Liriano, the guy will not even pitch in the game if he makes it, so the whole "he'll help us win the game" angle is not going to work here. It doesn't help AJ if he's splitty votes from Sox fans. If you don't want to vote for AJ then don't vote at all seriously.
-
QUOTE(Brian @ Jul 5, 2006 -> 01:54 PM) We as Sox/AL fans can't really go wrong if it is Liriano or AJ. If it AJ, we show MLB that the White Sox following is loud. On the other hand, Liriano is lights out and we get homefield in the WS! =) I can almost gaurantee that Liriano will not pitch if selected. I'm glad to see that it's atleast close going into the home stretch, I'm going to step up operations and attempt to give AJ a large push over the course of the day today.
