  1. QUOTE(Hurons @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 12:09 PM) I would have no issues with the Sox finishing with the best record in baseball and the Tigers taking the wild card. After watching the Pistons, Wings, and Colts all finish with the best record in their respective leagues, only to fail when it counts, it seems a pattern has devolped in the other leagues that may soon happen in MLB. First place, nor the best record, means anything when the wild card is in play. Yes, this is perfectly logical reasoning. It happened recently in other pro sports therefor it will happen in baseball.
  2. QUOTE(R.J. @ Jun 25, 2006 -> 12:03 PM) It's unlikely that we'd work out any kind of deal with the Twins, and they're actually playing good enough baseball that I'm sure they'd ignore any gap in the standings until the last possible minute. Vizquel is a candidate to be traded but you mentioned that the Giants have as good a shot as anybody to win the crapshoot that is the NL West, and with the pariah they have in LF every day I don't see them throwing in the towel despite their many "veteran" trading pieces. If Barry gets significantly hurt they'd probably move Vizquel because he's in the last year of his deal. As for Renteria, he still has years left on his contract, and that's a contract I want no part of. He's making around $10-12M/y This is just about perfect, I'll just add to it a bit. On Rincon, the Twins are looking damn good for the near future and Rincon is going to play a large part in their run next year. With their new and improved rotation/hitting they're primed to make a run at the division next season, there's absolutely NO reason for them to trade the 27 year old Rincon, especially to a division rival. Plus he's a steroid user. On Renteria, he's not an American League hitter, in order to be successful he needs to be in the National League, he proved this last year. Plus the fact that he's making $9M in '07 & '08 plus an $11M option for '09.
  3. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 11:22 PM) Im out guys. I need to cool down and have a drink. I just don't want a good thing ruined. This entire week has been blown out of proportion and you all know it. Naw, you're just completely delusional per usual.
  4. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 11:11 PM) I can see Ozzie quiting over this. If that happens Kenny Williams will not make it to next week alive. Ozzie is bigger than Kenny will ever be. I wish we had a new gm. Maybe If Ozzie quits and Gio turns out to be a complete stud, I will get my f***ing wish. Remember kids, don't drink and drive.
  5. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 10:56 PM) His anti Mike Caruso stance? That bastard! So now Mikey is catching s*** Nationally? And from Pop Singers? This is getting completely out of control.
  6. Sleepy, I hope you see this. Please tell me now that my comparison is not oh so perfect.
  7. QUOTE(tealeafreaderii @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 10:53 PM) that cooper... he loves being funny. and in case he isn't joking the game ended around 3... and its about 11pm... 9 drinks over 8 hours isn't too bad. Um, that post was made at 5 O'clock, 9 drinks over 2 hours followed by some driving while on your cell phone is pretty damn bad.
  8. QUOTE(Rex Hudler @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 10:13 PM) You guys are gonna judge him from a commercial? GMAB Taylor's great. He puts on a great love show and has a huge following. Ignore the Ford commercial and his new American Idol-produced single. He'll last in the biz and make good music. He is definitely worth catching live. He played here in Birmingham last weekend, twice. Once, just rippin on the harmonica with Snoop Dog and Sunday with his former band, Little Memphis Blues Orchestra. If you are looking for a largely commercial voice, you are looking at the wrong guy. Actually: QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jun 23, 2006 -> 03:53 PM) ^^^ HAHA, yes, he is horrible. I didn't see a single episode of the show but I've heard him sing a few times, horrid. Even worse is that they play that commercial non-stop during Sox games. So, I'm not judging him off of some stupid ass commercial, I'm just not a big fan of his sound and believe me I am not one to hate on unique styles (anyone who knows what kind of music I like can vouch for this). It's just something about his singing that I'm not a fan of.
  9. QUOTE(loltrain @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 09:30 PM) To the people blaming Izzy: Chad Qualls. Isringhausen is a horrid reliever, atleast Qualls is halfway decent, it's tough not to blame a closer for blowing a game. It's not about taking credit away from the Tigers, it's about Izzy being a ridiculously bad closer.
  10. QUOTE(Ndgt10 @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 09:28 PM) You can't be serious. Just keep burying your head in the sand, if you think the Tigers are going to just go away then you're completely delusional.
  11. Granderson has a .966 OPS when it's close and late.
  12. Izzy is seriously the worst closer in baseball, with this outing his WHIP is what 1.50?
  13. Jermaine Dye is a baseball player in a 2 gaurd's body.
  14. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 08:49 PM) how about common sense training? ^^^ Exactly what i was thinking.
  15. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 02:38 AM) I am learning to live with espn turning us into america's villians. I kind of like it.
  16. QUOTE(CardsJimEdmonds15 @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 01:07 AM) Truthfully I love how you all are taking one source and running with the same ol bs (willing to bet this so called source is Duncan, lol).. it's old news.. Nobody from the team said anything bashing the White Sox unless you count that moron Dave Duncan.. Get over it.. we're playing crappy ball.. that's all.. The joke is old but continue on It's time for the Cards to just admit.. the only thing they should accuse is Dave Duncan and the starters for stealing money.. that's the only thing I'm worried about! Honestly, if you got to see the ridiculous coverage this story has been getting in the Chicago media you'd understand why so many people are running with it around these parts. The insane Chicago media has hit the ground running with this thing, hell it was the lead story on both Around the Horn and PTI too, so ESPN is going with it as well. Some people are getting sick of the ridiculous negative press the organization has been getting and now the team is being characterised as "cheaters" because of some stupid ass unnamed source from the Cardinals.
  17. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 01:23 AM) Again I might be tweekin, but I heard it eigher just missed it by two feet or barely hit it. I'm going by what my cousin told me cause he sat right around that area and he was braggin about it for a little while now. (he told me this like 2-3 hours ago though) Considering how fast it came off the bat and just how hard he hit it, I would not be surprised if he hit a window at the Stadium Club. Hell, I honestly thought it went further than that.

    Jenks

QUOTE(zygoat @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 01:16 AM) does it really matter?? jenks is kicking ass and the rest of the closers will fall off numbers wise with the linesups their facing (yankees, red sox, toronto) Then wouldn't Jenks' numbers fall off too do to the lineups he has to face? (Indians, Tigers, Yankees (6), Red Sox (6))
  19. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 01:17 AM) Supposedly it "hit" something I think a window (it's not glass not sure what the material was) over by the deep right field stands. God I wish I knew the name of it but it's late and I'm tweekin right now. If you're talking about the restaraunt in RF, isn't that the Stadium Club?
  20. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 01:15 AM) It was a friggin BLAST though. Well, from the way the ball traveled it looked like it landed in the RF upperdeck, so yeah I guess you can call that a blast.
  21. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 12:56 AM) I want to know how far Thome's foul blast was. Looked like an easy 450, at least. Did anyone at the game see where this ball landed exactly. They never showed it land on TV, so it was impossible to really gage just how far that thing traveled.
  22. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 12:44 AM) The "Mod" duties are finally kickin in ey.. Haha, I'm tryin. QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 12:42 AM) Well, I'm glad you didn't ACTUALLY threaten to kill anyone, although I didn't really think you did, which is why I asked. I was going by your words, and that was all. Yeah, I hadn't even read my quote that I posted, I forgot that I put "kill" in there, you posted "threatened" so I thought that was it.
  23. And for the record I never "threatened to kill" anyone. I did yell at some people to sit down as did a lot of people in that section. The threaten to kill thing was posted mainly out of frustration seeing how I had just gotten home from the game. Hey guys, cut the personal crap. Try to stay on topic here.
  24. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 12:35 AM) It makes perfect sense in response to your post that I was RESPONDING to. I wasn't factoring in your previous posts because I haven't bothered to read them yet. They aren't worth my time reading. Then don't reply to any of them, it's not hard.
  25. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jun 24, 2006 -> 12:31 AM) So how do the fans of other teams feel when we stand up and cheer for a home run? Are you saying it's wrong to cheer for Jim Thome when he hits a walk-off grandslam just because there's a fan of the other team sitting behind you? That makes absolutely NO sense. I'm talking about standing at random times during a game, not standing in celebration of something happening on the field. Not even close to the same situation.
