QUOTE(Steff @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 02:04 PM) And his best friend Brady Anderson... #1 in my book.

Hasn't it been proven that the egg came before the chicken? I swear I read that somewhere.

Am I the only one who doesn't really care about amphetimine use? That s*** is just going to f*** up their health in the long run, hell enjoy the heart problems later on along with Kidney and Liver problems that go along with it.

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 11:48 AM) I'm just going by the times I saw him with the Cubs, but it isn't the amount, it's the timing. What worries me is if the Sox are down by a run and have a man on second and no outs, that Corey is going to be swinging for the Dan Ryan instead of popping one over the 2B head. Or bunting to move the guy over. If he is willing to do that...climb aboard Corey. But if he's trying to hit a kid on the Fundamentals deck...stay in Balto. That's one of the biggest changes Corey has made, he's not so focused on HRs anymore, he actually realizes how valuable his speed and contact hitting are now so he's more looking to get the ball on the ground than he is lift it in the air. From what I've seen from him in Baltimore he's a new man, he's completely revamped his style of play and would fit in perfectly at the bottom of the Sox' order.

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 11:37 AM) I'm not in favor of trading for him, just because of his strikeout numbers, but don't forget he will get to play the Cubs 6 times a year and 81 of his games will be in Chicago, soooo, he would have a lot to prove, or at least rub it into the Cubs faces if he does well. It may not be a bad move, but I don't think Balto would trade him now. What's so bad about 96 strikeouts (what he's currently on pace for)? He's only walked 11 times compared to his 32 Ks but the guy is still finding ways to get on base, I have no problem with a player striking out around 100 times if he's going to be getting on base anyway and when he is on base taking 2 extra bases with his sick speed. Hell Jermaine Dye is currently on pace for 105 strikeouts, Podsednik 99, Konerko 120 and Iguchi an unsettling 150. Would you turn down Iguchi because he's struck out 18 more times this year than Patterson and has only walked 5 more times?

There's a damn good chance Cliff isn't even injured but instead placed on the DL do to his inability to strikeout an 80 year old woman (should the opportunity present itself) and maybe a bit of shoulder soreness. Even if he is injured it's only a sore shoulder, he's not seriously injured or anything. There's a lot of people much more deserving of your prayers. Personally, I think Freddy is more injured than Cliff right now.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 11:20 AM) I could have swore that Little was going Furcal first, then Lofton 2nd. Did he make some changes recently? I haven't watched a Dodger game in a week or two. No, you're right Furcal has been the leadoff hitter for just about the entire season (Lofton only has 18PA in the leadoff spot) I'm just so used to seeing him leadoff that I typed it out subconciously.
-
That's too much from the Sox side and still don't think the Dodgers would make the trade simply because Lofton is thier leadoff hitter and they are currently a game out in the west. Cesar Izturis is completely useless, what exacty does he bring to the table outside of great defense (which Uribe already has)? He's overpriced, comming off major surgery and a s***ty hitter.

I'm not sure if there's anything in baseball I hate more than steroid speculation, it's so utterly useless and really takes all fun out of the game. What's the fun in just speculating about every damn player you can think of? QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 10:30 AM) So, what's the stuff at the GNC? Whey protein? Natural hormone support supplements?
-
Why exactly would the Sox have any interest in Marlon Byrd? The guy hasn't hit a lick and is a hot head. He manages to hit .300 3 years ago so he might be a fit? Brady Clark continues to be the best option.

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2006 @ Jun 9, 2006 -> 02:12 AM) Um, the Reds are tied for first now. I also would be a little worried about being able to match the Reds' high-powered offense -- especially in that ballpark. I'm simply talking about thier pitching, I'm sorry but the likes of Harang, Claussen, Elizardo Ramirez, Eric Milton and even Bronson Arroyo do not scare me. They're in first place in the NL Central which is about as unimpressive as it gets, if any of our starting pitchers show up for the series the offense won't have to worry about putting up 6 runs a game though the top 6 should be able to provide some decent run support anyway. The only possible pitching the Sox will have to face in NL parks is against the Cubs if they get Zambrano or possibly Duke in Pitt but in both those series they go up against absolutely pathetic offenses.

You can't rule out any speedy little guys, steroids/HGH can be used for many reasons not just power hitting. Alex Sanchez anyone, hell Marion Jones?
-
Lee Cruz?

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 10:36 PM) ARod's the guy in the best position to challenge the home run records. This is true simply becuase he's already way up there from years of kicking ass but Pujols is that guy where you don't really know how great he can truely be just yet, I don't expect A-Rod to hit 75 HRs in a season but I'm not going to rule it out for Pujols.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 10:11 PM) Right now, Pujols is only considered "involved" due to his association with the trainer. Baseball has an absolutely clusterf*** on their hands, as the three most prominent home run sluggers of the last 10 years have all been associated with steroids (Sosa, McGwire, Bonds). I'm well aware of what the article said on Deadspin, he has not been implicated at all, he just has ties to a trainer who happened to be supplying players with the s***. I'm just saying if Pujols is on HGH I'm not so sure I can watch the game anymore, Albert is the saving grace right now, he's the 26 year old who's well on his way to kicking Bonds' ass and returning the record book to a relatively clean nature.
-
f***. I swear to god if Pujols did anything, I'm done with baseball. I've believed in that f***er since day one, once he started defending Bonds I thought perhaps something was up but I couldn't bring myself to believe it. I swear if he let me down this time I'm not sure I can continue following the sport.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 10:01 PM) If Crede's back injury is worse than indicated. Oh...I meant Fields. Hell, Ozzie said that Crede will probably start tomorrow.

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 09:59 PM) Pods Iguchi PK Dye AJ Crede/Sweeney? Juan Anderson Pitcher Yikes! Against the Pirates, Cubs and Reds. I'm not all that worried.

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 09:50 PM) Huh? According to the CSN post game show he will be starting tomorrow.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 09:48 PM) According to the paper, Ozzie's going to use Mackowiak full-time in CF. Expect to see more losses like today in the near future. Defense is overrated anyway. Brian Anderson is starting tomorrow. That sounds promising.
-
It would be interesting if they did decide to demote him after the performance Mack had out in CF today.
-
He threw strikes and thus got hitters out. Quite the concept.
-
A good pitcher pitches over defensive mistakes.
-
QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jun 8, 2006 -> 09:32 PM) Uribe with a game-tying slam to honor his new son. Sounds a lot like Mackowiak.
