Relief Help on the way?
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 12:59 AM) Yes I know it was supposed to be a joke but it was written correctly. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 12:52 AM) Yes 35 and 2 outs. More K's than innings=good K/9. His observation was that it looked like 325 innings pitched. Because the 2 in 2/3 did not have a space in front of it. Lousy observation on his part.

Relief Help on the way?
QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 12:48 AM) QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 12:43 AM) Someone may have posted this already, in which case I apologize (it's the first time I've started a topic). But this was an encouraging blurb from the Trib: The Sox may have relief help within their organization. Double-A Birmingham closer Bobby Jenks and outfielder Chris Young were named to play for the United States in the seventh annual Futures Game on July 10 in Detroit. Jenks, 24, is second in the Southern League with 16 saves with 40 strikeouts in 352/3 innings. "Jenks is on a faster track than Young," said Dave Wilder, the Sox's director of player development. "He's up to 98 [m.p.h.] every day." 98??? That's sick. It would be nice to see Jenks fill the roll that Vizcaino is failing to hold down.

Relief Help on the way?
That means no Baj or Anderson in the futures game. That sucks. Although I really didn't expect Anderson to make it after he wasn't named an All-Star this week.

Check this out.
I had to get Ozzie atleast 100,000 votes. I let it run when I was at work and it reached 1/6 of a million, 125,000 votes.

Who's the manager of your All-City team? 100.0% Ozzie Guillen, White Sox 9127797 responses) 0.0% Dusty Baker, Cubs (41 responses) 127838 total responses --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ok so I went a little overboard with Ozzie. I had to work all day so I just let it run, I didn't think it would make it up to 1/6 of a million votes.

Batting Practice
That was the most exciting 15 minutes of batting practice ever. I saw AJ crushing the ball, Joe Crede sucking, Carl Everett hitting the ball hard, Willie Harris hitting ground balls, Pablo Ozuna hitting the ball to all fields, Widger hitting like s***, Timo hitting mad HRs (seriously) and Gload looking very uncomfortable in the box. What exactly does this all mean? Absolutely nothing.

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 11:33 PM) Aside from Pudge, the Florida Marlins didn't have jack in terms of playoff experience in 2003 either. The guys who won it for them were their pitchers - Beckett has seen a few less playoff games than say, Mariano Rivera, and yet they still pulled it out. You know what it may very well come down to? 3 things; how healthy is our pitching staff come October, how hot is our bullpen, and who is hitting. If only 2 guys hit in the playoffs, we won't have a shot. If one or two of our starting pitchers are hurt or worn down, we'll be in bad shape. If the guys in our bullpen who are on fire start to break down, then we'll be in deep dog doo. On the other hand...aside from Oakland, who exactly out there is it who you'd say can beat us in the playoffs? We've gone to both Baltimore and Anaheim and split series in their parks. We haven't played Boston or New York yet, but we've also beaten up on a few teams in the NL and successfully played NL style ball. We haven't gone to Baltimore yet. We split a series at the Cell.- Vote for All-City team 2005
Now we should probably focus on the current poll that we know will count.- I WAS ON TV!

I seriously think we should be padding some leads for our starters and relievers. The Cubs fans showed last night that they are sneaky bastards and might try to do the same tonight. - BMAC
