QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 1, 2010 -> 10:09 AM) You would think Lucy earned a call-up with his performance earlier in the year for the Sox. And hasn't Flowers been terrible? He had 5 hits. He happened to have a little hot streak while he was up here, he didn't earn anything, he's still bad. Even for as much as Flowers struggled in AAA this year he still out OPS'd Lucy by about 150 points.

QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 10:24 PM) Is Infante on the 40 man or does someone else need to be designated? He is not but Threets is currently on the 15 day DL and can be moved to the 60 to make room just as Peavy was moved to the 60 to make room for Manny. (as we are at 40 right now)

So Manny is at the park right now getting a haircut but he's incapable of playing tonight after arriving at the park only 3.5+ hours before the game?

5-8 vs Clevland this season, 4.23 runs/game 2-1 vs Masterson this season, 3.67 runs/game

QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 02:43 PM) Torres sent down via Score update So we're what? 4 arms down today? Jenks, Linebrink and I imagine Sale will all be unavailable today. And the guy that we're sacrificing an arm for won't even be in the lineup.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 02:37 PM) Cowley and Gonzalez confirming no Manny in the lineup. This is just f***ing stupid.
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 31, 2010 -> 01:59 PM) Is that from someone's Twitter or something? The lineup I mean. Kotsay rakes against Masterson career-wise. Maybe best to sit Quentin for a game if Manny plays, move Kotsay to RF and DH Manny. 2 for 7 against Masterson, I wouldn't read too much into such a minuscule sample size.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Aug 30, 2010 -> 04:12 PM) This is REALLY getting overblown. A big-time divorce is what caused the Dodgers to jettison their aging superstar, not his attitude. He's a 38 year old who needs to be a DH. There's an interested team willing to save that franchise 4 million bucks when they sure could use it. ESPN has a nice BS article up right now about Manny being jettisoned from two cities, but when he moved from Boston it was a big deal! It was HUGE! Go Dodgers!! If it's the Yanks picking him up, we're hearing how f***ing fantastic he is and how the Dodgers were out of it and needed the money so they let him go. Nothing more. They had 4 starting OF, no DH position and their leadoff hitter (since Furcal is down) happened to be one of those outfielders. Why pay Manny $4M to be a platoon/part time player? There were many reasons why they dumped him, I think this was a big one.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 29, 2010 -> 08:47 PM) Any chance he plays for us tomorrow? I suppose it's a possibility: BNightengale #mlb #dodgers #whitesox No matter what Dodgers decide, Manny has played final game for Dodgers. He may be in Cleveland in time for Sox game. about 1 hour ago via web and Heyman: SI_JonHeyman manny is gone, as la is done with him. appears to be pure waiver claim, where chisox just pay his salary. 13 minutes ago via web Looks like Jon Gilmore will be sticking around.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Aug 28, 2010 -> 08:10 AM) Many here talk about Fuentes like he is second coming of Mariano Rivera. Didn't he blow a save against the Sox earlier in the season? Fuentes is a good relief pitcher (making way too much money) but let's not overreact. No, 2 for 2 in save opps vs the Sox this year. You don't have to be Mariano Rivera to be a quality reliever, especially when you throw with your left hand.

There's also an enormous difference between 3.5 back, 1 team ahead of you and no one in your rear view mirror and 4 back, 4 teams ahead of you and 2 in your rear view mirror. Each night we just have to hope the Twins lose, the Dodgers on the other hand have to worry about the Phillies, Cardinals, Giants and Rockies AND are tied in the loss column with the Marlins and are 2 up on the Mets. They're fighting an uphill battle for a playoff spot, we're a series sweep + and extra win/Twins loss away from a first place tie. AND they have 4 starting OF and no DH position or position flexibility to get them all ABs. With Furcal out Theroit is thrust into the leadoff spot on days that Manny starts.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 06:38 PM) s*** - twinkies claimed fuentes Not just claimed but acquired, Rosenthal isn't sure if it was a trade or just a dump but he's now a Twin. Not good news.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 06:23 PM) I thought it was a scheduled day off. And besides, most people show up to the ballpark, even if they're given a day off. That was yesterday, this is his second day in a row on the bench.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 03:19 PM) Was there as well. I remember saying to one of my buddies(might have been someone from here) "you can't give Manny Ramirez an extra swing," and boom. Apparently everyone was at that game because I was there as well. I said the same damn thing and a few seconds later I saw maybe the hardest hit ball I've ever witnessed in person.

QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 01:33 PM) Dude, screw that. KW knows the team needs a shot in the arm. He will get it done. The ball is in Colletti's court. Now he needs to decide A.) if his team has a realistic shot at the playoffs and B.) If having Manny in the lineup improves their chances of making the playoffs. If Ned says yes to both then Manny's staying put. Unless KW has a very enticing trade offer on the table or has mastered the Jedi mind trick he doesn't have a whole lot of power in this situation.

QUOTE (IamtheHBOMB @ Aug 27, 2010 -> 01:28 PM) WOO /high five with Kalapse This is very exciting with a high probability of incredible, crippling disappointment.

OH YEAH jaysonst #WhiteSox were the team awarded the claim on Manny, according to MLB source. Strong indications #Rangers & #Rays also claimed him. half a minute ago via web

QUOTE (knightni @ Aug 26, 2010 -> 09:30 PM) Jackson of the 2 HR 29 RBI and league-leading 135 Ks in 480 AB? That's worse than Pierre. I'd sooner give it to a good CF with a .300+ AVG and .345 wOBA than a league average starting pitcher with bad peripherals. Personally I'd give it to Neftali Feliz: effective closer (32/35 in save opps, 5th highest WPA among AL relievers) for a first place club that plays half their games in Texas, he's maintained a sub 1 WHIP with solid peripherals. All in all it's a weak year for AL rookies.

QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 11:31 PM) Yea. Grounded out to end the game. To his credit though, I am glad he actually hit the pitch. He took 2 real close fastballs just off the outside corner just before that, great eye. He gave a valiant effort up there.

2 out in the bottom of the 16th with the Astros up 2 and no one on, Polanco walks bringing the tying Run to the plate in the form of Chase Utley. Problem is; Roy Oswalt is on deck. Here comes the intentional walk to get to the pitcher, tough way to end this one.
-
16th inning in Philly the Astros just scored 2 and are now up 4-2 on the Phils. Ryan Howard was ejected in the top of the 15th inning forcing the Phils to move LF Raul Ibanez to 1B and Roy Oswalt into LF, he's played 2 innings out there.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 11:00 PM) Threets and......... Clevelan Santeliz? The man with the 6.3 BB/9? My money's on Torres, he's basically the tallest midget. There's always Freddy Dolsi and his 1.60 WHIP. Horrible year for minor league pitchers on the 40 man.
-
QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 10:39 PM) Isn't Threets on a rehab assignment and pitched the other day? 4 IP, 6 H, ER, BB, K in 3 rehab outings. He threw 2 scoreless innings on Sunday. He'll most definitely be one of them.
-
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 24, 2010 -> 10:31 PM) I dont like you very much for making me think these thoughts If Threets is actually injured the likely candidate to replace Thornton is the man with the 1.11 WHIP at Charlotte: Randy Williams. You're welcome.

Cowley via Twitter: Threets and ??? Torres?
