Off Reds Official website. Nothing happening: As the White Sox keep losing and Ken Griffey Jr. keeps hitting, the rumors persist that the superstar center fielder is Chicago-bound. Word out of Chicago on Saturday afternoon was that trade talks between the two clubs were "heating up," though all was quiet on the Reds' side of things. Reporters didn't even have to ask Griffey about the latest rumblings before he spoke out. "I'm not going to Chicago," he said. Then Griffey was in a joking mood. "I'm not going to offer further comment without the presence of my lawyer," he said with a smile.

POSTED 5:27 p.m. EDT, August 25, 2005 BENSON, ANGELO MEETING Amid rumors that No. 4 overall draft pick Cedric Benson is in Chicago, our official Bears mole tells us that Benson and G.M. Jerry Angelo currently are meeting face to face. Per the mole, Benson wouldn't sign his rookie deal absent a sit-down with Angelo. So agent Eugene Parker arranged the rare one-on-one between draft pick and General Manager. In recent days, Parker has tried to lay blame for the ongoing impasse on Benson. We reported over the weekend that Parker was recommending that Benson accept the team's so-called final offer

QUOTE(GoSoxGo @ Aug 24, 2005 -> 11:08 PM) But the whole point is -- how could the 40-man roster ever be at 41 players? Wouldn't that be against the rules? Oh boy! Thanks Levine, we need some Cubs news! E-ramis Ramirez has a moderate to severe leg sprain and will miss a good amount of time. And now Levine is talking about how he's an unbiased reporter and likes both teams. Give me a break, Bruce. Oh Cubboy........ Bruce he is such a Cub suckass fulltime.

Just tip your hat every night to the opposing pitcher as you go up there swinging the bat like three blind mice. Everytime you try and figure out why this team has been so bad lately. You see quotes like this from the team and shake your head. OG sound like a complete idiot tonight what a joke.

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Aug 21, 2005 -> 11:17 PM) just so everyone knows, you can just click the white sox as your fav team... no need to answer the other 10. PS... who gave ESPN the right to only ask favorite Cub player of all time? That's pretty stupid. Also in favorite moments cubs winning series in 1908 Orval Overall beats Detroit 2-0 to wrap up the World Series for the Cubs 1908 , nothing about Sox winning in 1906 VS Cubs or winning Series in 1917 VS NY Giants ......pure kiss ass Cub poll

Aug 21 2005 BENSON DEAL COMING SOON? Word out of Chicago is that agent Eugene Parker finally has contacted Bears G.M. Jerry Angelo regarding the stalled contract negotiations between the team and No. 4 overall draft pick Cedric Benson. Parker, we're told, is blaming the impasse on someone within Benson's inner circle of advisors. Parker, we're also told, has advised Benson that the team's "final offer" from a week or so ago is sufficient, and that it should be accepted. But in order to allow Ced-Ben to save face, Parker has asked the team for a mild "sweetener." If the team complies, Benson could be signed by Monday or Tuesday. Angelo isn't happy with the development, since in the end the team will be giving Benson the same deal it was prepared to make several weeks ago, which would have provided Benson with more time to learn the blitz protection packages and other nuances that make the position of tailback far more complicated than merely getting the ball and running for daylight.

Armed with an ultimatum—take it or leave it within 48 hours—agent Eugene Parker left a Halas Hall negotiating session Aug. 13 to see what client Cedric Benson thought of the Bears' latest and final contract offer. The proposed deal was believed to include at least $17 million guaranteed, but two sources familiar with the process say the first-round draft pick told Parker he was expecting more. Parker reminded Benson that the Bears' offer represented a lot of money. Benson, also being advised by a small but influential circle of friends and family in Austin, Texas, did not budge. Benson and his circle can jerk :finger

Williams appears to be hard-pressed to make a move, despite the growing number of impatient boos and calls for "Griffey" at U.S. Cellular Field. Asked if he felt he absolutely had to do something to get his team's lackluster offense going again, Williams replied: "If I say no, that means I'm satisfied with what's going on, even if I answer it in a supportive mode. And believe me, I'm behind these guys 100 percent. "If I answer yes, then I'm disrespecting [these players] and what they've accomplished. While I definitely know the question has to be asked, there is no answer to give that is conducive to us having harmony, for lack of a better word." I really hope we do something more than G.Blum, KW and OG need to come out of the chemistry clouded haze.
