  1. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 09:37 PM) Rowand grounded out to first. Way to break the 4 strike out night Rowand, what were you thinking.
  2. Carl is horrible right now, let's start the Frank chant. Get Well Soon Frank!!!!
  3. QUOTE(jphat007 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 09:23 PM) Thanks Neal. Leadoff walks suck. If you wanna get mad, get mad at the offense who have a grand total of 2 hits this game. Cotts has been awesome all year, he had a bad outing today, it happens.
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 09:21 PM) 1st and 3rd, with one out...you need a K! Vizcaino is nowhere near the strike out pitcher that Cotts is. a double play would work too, but knowing how this game is going, that's not gonna happen.
  5. QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 04:31 PM) I think on ESPN radio last night I heard the '64 Sox have the greatest difference between team ERA and league ERA, it was roughly 1 run less... Yeah I never thought about that stat either, I think that's the best way to compare throughout the history of baseball.
  6. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 05:01 PM) how come the f***ing indians keep playing teams that are slumping. I mean the tigers come in here, hitting the best in the AL, then we s*** them out, and the tribe faces them whilst they are slumping. No kidding, it was really nice of the Tigers to roll over and play dead. I'd normally not care aslong as the Sox keep winning, but I want to be there when they clinch it and September 17th is looking less and less likely.
  7. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 06:35 PM) Due to some sort of a contract dispute, set 5 for west coast DirecTV subscribers was cut off. That sucks. I had to switch it from USA to CBS.
  8. yeah it used to be, why are they putting Cotts in, Marte is way better, now it's the opposite.
  9. This is the best 5-man rotation in club history, but the 5-man rotation hasn't been around all that long.
  10. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 02:50 PM) If Paul Konerko can do it, anybody can. lol that's true, and I didn't know Kark had some speed. Too bad Babe Ruth or Cecil Fielder aren't on the list.
  11. What a great guy, it's only right for him to have that ball too.
  12. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 02:19 PM) I rooted for the Twins last year in the playoffs, and they are by far our biggest rivals. Does that not make me a fan too? Why not root for Maddux to reach 15 wins? It's baseball f***in immortality...you always cheer for that(unless the guy comes off as a huge, egotistical asshole most of the time, like Barry Bonds). Cubs fans don't care about the Sox...so why are Sox fans so concerned with the Cubs, especially this season? Yeah and last I knew, Maddux wasn't an a-hole towards anyone.
  13. QUOTE(bmags @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 11:46 AM) it keeps a magnificent streak alive, i doubt i'll see a pitcher as consistent for as many years as this guy for a long long time. I don't feel threatened by a cubs pitcher maintaining a record that the majority of happened in another uniform. Who cares if the cubs win anymore...its like getting mad if the twins win at this point. Exactly, when he goes to the Hall of Fame, he'll be an Atlanta Brave too. Yes he had a couple of good years in Chicago before, but his biggest accomplishments came with the Braves.
  14. QUOTE(bighurt2719 @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 07:17 AM) are you a sox fan? bottom line, he is on the cubs payroll...hence, NO LOVE. So just because he's on the Cubs means I can't root for him getting 15 wins? Who cares, the Cubs aren't gonna make the playoffs. Just because you don't like him doesn't mean I can't like him.
  15. It should be Baton Rouge. If this would've happened 5 years ago, it'd be Houston for sure, but Texas has 2 teams and I know they want to keep the team in Louisiana.
  16. Wow, 19 games in a row is crazy. It seems like every time we win 8 games in a row this year, we drop the next 3 or so.
  17. QUOTE(knightni @ Sep 8, 2005 -> 12:23 AM) That's an opinion that you won't see from many Sox fans. The Cubs are considered a threat because of the Cub fans that the average Chicagoan (who is a Sox fan) has to deal with on a daily basis. I myself, have no hate towards the Cubs, just marginal pity. I live outside Chicago, but I suppose I'm still in Cub territory since Iowa has the AAA Cubs but for the most part our team is the Twins. The Cubs aren't going to make the playoffs so I feel as if there is no harm to go for Maddux to get 15 wins in one season again. (I remember laughing at the beginning of this year when Peter Gammons picked the Twins and Cubs to play in the World Series, I knew they were both doomed from the get go.)
  18. The legendary Hack Wilson is on it too. I didn't know Karkovice could get an inside the park home run let alone a grand slam on it. Kinda funny to see Tony Gwynn get one in 1997, when it was the bigger version of Gwynn.
  19. lol I don't follow west coast baseball all that well, so I've never heard of the guy. Sucks for him though.
  20. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Sep 7, 2005 -> 11:56 PM) If Carmelo can co-exist with George Karl... Is it just me, or has anyone else been overwhelmed lately at the attempt to build teams by combining all of the start talent that can be possibly found anywhere and hoping that it works out...kind of the exact opposite of the Detroit model? It started with the Kobe-Shaq-Payton-Malone Lakers... Now you've got the Walker-Williams-Wade-Shaq Heat, the Ginobili/Parker/Duncan/Finley Mavs, the Carmelo/Pierce Nuggets, etc. Yeah I've noticed that too. I think the 2 most important things in a winning team is Team Chemistry and Defense. Having good depth in the bench is important too, but for the most part, all of those players mentioned are offensive forces and some lack on the defensive side. Who knows how everyone will get along either. Just throwing in superstar players from other teams who are used to getting the ball doesn't always work out.
