Unfortunately there is no ChiSox memorabilia to collect in NY so I'm hoping I don't lose my mind anytime soon

QUOTE(Balance @ Jul 7, 2005 -> 01:32 PM) I have to thank Hawk and DJ for getting the word out on this website. At last, I've found a ChiSox forum. I'm very happy to be here! Scott Podsednik's winning the fan vote has just confirmed it for me- something special is going on on the South Side this year. We're lucky to be a part of it. I'm looking forward to being a part of this community. Welcome to Soxtalk!

I'd be the skipper and come out to I Am the Law by Anthrax (when making a pitching change).

Uncle Lou gonna try something different

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 09:38 AM) Pinella is doing everything he can to get fired. Too bad Tampa's management is too cheap for that. He probably doesn't realize (or maybe he does), that this is exactly what ownership wants. Reminds me so much of Hugh Culverhouse and the NFL Bucs of the 70s, 80s, and early 90s. -

QUOTE(YASNY @ Jul 6, 2005 -> 09:33 AM) He wanted to "go home". He got what he asked for. Yep. Be careful of what you wish for, you may just get it. -

LOL this is great. So when his "starter" comes in for relief in the 3rd or 4th inning to keep the Sox offense "shut down", we'll only have a 5-10 run lead. Makes perfect sense to me. Uh huh, yea, sure, ok. -
There is no other HR call that is better that Hawk's "you can put it on the booooard....yes!" call. Period.

EDIT: Since the game ended while I was typing my post, I'll add my congrats to the team, especially Jon G here.

Who Is The Best Sox Player This Year?
BuehrleTheAce replied to Southside hitmen's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Just because you didn't put him on the list, I pick Konerko. -
Anyone have their eye on Mike Timlin?
BuehrleTheAce replied to rangercal's topic in PTC/Contest/Fantasy Board
I picked him up a while ago for holds when he was dropped by one of my opponents. Now that there's a chance he may be "promoted" to closer I need to find ANOTHER "hold"er! Seriously though, I couldn't be happier because he could get both for me. He just has to cut down on that irritating "inherited runners scored" stat to be truly effective as a closer. -

What do you EXPECT from BMac tonight?
BuehrleTheAce replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't expect a dominant outing, but I think the offense breaks out and bails him out for his first ML win. I think 5.2 IP, 8 hits, 6R, 6ER, 4BB, 3K. Sox eventually win 9-6. -
to 51-24! Nice grinding, hard work game! This team can win in so many different ways, I love it!

Do you hate your league? I do
BuehrleTheAce replied to rangercal's topic in PTC/Contest/Fantasy Board
Unfortunately, half the players in my league are AWOL and have been for some time. This leads to the rest of us trying to one-up each other using the FA list and no trades. To try to get things going I made the first successful deal in my league, which was completed just today. It may have been a bit lopsided but I really did need the player I was hunting. I traded: Roy Oswalt Miguel Batista I got: Chad Cordero Tim Wakefield Chad becomes my primary closer, and I have Todd Jones and Chris Reitsma for saves as well. I have other good pitchers - Garcia, Rogers, and Morris to name a few, so hopefully dealing the Big "O" won't come back and bite me in the ass -
Who is the White Sox best offensive player?

Who is the White Sox best offensive player?
BuehrleTheAce replied to jerseysox's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If Frank had been playing all season long I'd have no second thoughts about naming him "the best". However, even though he's been playing at a high level since his return, he hasn't been doing it for 3 months. The only guy that's been doing it since the start of the season is Paulie. Even through his horrible slump from mid-April to mid-May he was still drawing walks and moving runners along. When he's hitting he's doing that plus a whole lot more. Ask this question again in September and, barring an injury, I'll more-than-likely be changing my vote to the Big Hurt. -

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 06:48 PM) Jizzcan thinks it's his job to give momentum back to the Cubs for tomorrow's game. Ahhhhh. Thanks for clearing that up for me!

How does this dope ----> still have a job with this team?

QUOTE(nvxplorer @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 06:34 PM) I hate to admit I visit the dark side, but I enjoy reading the Cubs forum when they're getting shelled. They basically called it "game over" when it was 2-1. It looks like they were right. It must suck to be a Cubs fan. I'm not sure...just look at all the fun they can have at Wrigley! Heck, baseball is secondary there, so the score doesn't really matter!
-
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 06:26 PM) I hope he's stupid enough to say that because he'd never live it down. The only way this game really matters is to back it up over the weekend. Period. Exactly! We've seen it time and time again - the Sox beat the crap out of an opp in the first game then fail to score the rest of the series. I have a feeling though this year it's gonna be a different story...
-
QUOTE(shakes @ Jun 24, 2005 -> 06:23 PM) I wonder if Dusty will complain that we ran up the score. He'll probably blame this treatment by the White Sox for ruining the rest of the Cubbies season.

The only thing that could make this sweeter is for Tad and Frank to get on base for a 3 run jack by Paulie.
