  1. I'm concerned that League 4 is going to die due to lack of interest so I created a team in league 2. I'm The Acesses. Up to 10 teams now!
  2. There are only 6 of us so far and we need 6 more managers! Our draft is next Saturday 3/28 @ 4:30 EDT.
  3. Zoom and knight, I'm very concerned that there has been no activity in my league from last year yet (league 4). No invites, no communication, nada. If necessary please set me up as commish and I will take over so we can get this thing done before it's too late. I've seen many posts from league 4 participants last year expressing interest so it might be a good time to get the league set up before they find a spot elsewhere.
  4. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 27, 2009 -> 07:17 PM) No, it's not too late. If you need the league info, let me know. Hey knightni, I wanted to post in this thread about my interest in joining a keeper league if there are any open spots. I posted about it in another thread but can't find it. Also, I haven't gotten any info about joining the regular seasonal leagues that we do every year. Should invites be going out soon or aren't they set up yet? Thanks!
  5. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Feb 16, 2009 -> 12:50 PM) Ill mod the league 4 this year. Woot!
  6. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 14, 2009 -> 09:10 PM) I will ask Zoom if there are non-returning members or if he wants to start a second keeper league. Excellent, let me know!
  7. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Feb 11, 2009 -> 03:57 PM) It's that time of year again. I want to try something new this year. If you were a commish of one of the Soxtalk leagues last year, please set up the league through the "renew league" feature. I just did it for the Soxtalk Keeper and it is ridiculously easy and requires virtually no effort. That will allow you to automatically send out invites to the people that participated last year, and we can fill in as necessary once the draft times get closer. For anyone new, just post in this thread with your relative level of experience and whether you prefer head-to-head or roto scoring. We'll group you with other Soxtalk members once we get enough people to fill some leagues. I'm not sure if the commish of my league is still around or interested in continuing the job this year. If I remember right he kind of disappeared mid-way through the season, although I could be recalling a prior season. Anyway, I was in league 4 last year and definitely interested in participating again this year.
  8. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 26, 2008 -> 04:21 PM) We may have an opening or two in the Soxtalk keeper league if a few GMs can't play this year. I would be very interested in joining a keeper league this year. Let me know if there's enough room. Are the regular SoxTalk leagues starting up soon? I'm chomping at the bit for some baseball action!
  9. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 09:57 PM) I love seeing Thome and Griffey step up to get themselves into the playoffs maybe one last time. Watching those two "old guys" pay dividends for this team in the most important game of the season is truly inspirational.
  10. 3 days rest, bad record and stats vs the Twinkies this year, and he simply goes out and pitches 8 shutout innings? Are you kidding me?!?!?!
  11. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 09:52 PM) CAN I GET A HELL YEAAAAAAAAAAA !!! HELL YEA!!! Great pitching Danks and superb HR Thome! Congrats on the division and playoff berth White Sox, now go get the job done!
  12. I was reading an article on Pat Burrell where he pretty much said he did the same thing when he was going through his struggles. He just *lost* his swing and kept pulling the ball. Somehow last year he *found* it again, and since the All Star break last year has been the most prolific slugger in MLB.
  13. Thanks a lot Jimbo, Monday @ 9:30 EDT is great!
  14. Thanks for the stat changes! About draft time: I can do Saturday night after 7pm Eastern, Sunday 3pm - 6pm Eastern, or Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday after 6:30pm Eastern. I can also do Saturday or Sunday early mornings (like 10am - 12pm Eastern or so).
  15. I'm in as The Acesses. I hate to ask, but that time is very bad for me. Is there any chance we could schedule it later, like 3pm Eastern / 2pm Central? I'm not going to be home until around then. Also, can we request additional stat categories and positions? I'd like to see OPS and Holds counted, and an additional DL spot.
  16. If I happen to three-peat I will only honor your request under one condition: you buy my plane ticket to Chitown I look forward to a new group of people to battle against this season. Hopefully we'll have full league participation (my big wish).
  17. Definitely count me in, I've got back-to-back championships to defend! I was The Acesses in League 3 last year.
  18. After a long, grueling season (both in fantasy and real life), the winner has been decided! 1. BuehrleTheAce (yay, back-to-back championships!) 2. Melido Perez's Curls 3. SIRtifiably CAFFEY 4. Biddle's Chops 5. Cryptvill 6. FtT35 7. South Side Hitmen 8. Reddy's Southsiderz 9. JOE CREDE!!!!!!!!!!! 10. kman711 11. BHAM 12. Stutta Bug's Thanks everyone for playing. We had a significant number of owners stick it out throughout the season, with only a few not participating throughout. The winner for most transactions was SIRtifiably CAFFEY with 115. South Side Hitmen had the second most with a distant 48 (talk about poaching the free agent market!).
  19. QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ May 11, 2007 -> 04:35 PM) no prob. Glad I went to listen to the post game show and saw it. It's pretty sweet and a good price if you compare it to these others... http://www.steinersports.com/ssm/control/c...;lc=home_banner Definitely. I like the fact that it's a limited series from an oustanding event, instead of "just" a signed ball like the others. I too noticed that it's not supposed to ship until June, yet the confirmation email didn't mention that. It's almost like you had to be looking for that little tid bit. I guess they ship him the balls, he signs them when he can, and ships them back. That's probably why they aren't immediately available.
  20. Who would have thought I would order one, but I did I also got the deluxe acrylic case for it. Thanks for the link and the code chaos!
  21. QUOTE(ChWRoCk2 @ Mar 19, 2007 -> 05:01 PM) Hmm well lets see: Ive never done 6x6 stats, im assuming ops was added to hitting and either Losses for pitching or walks? Id imagine some guys like Bonds become more valuable because he generally has a great ops, same with Big Hurt and Hafner. Pitching not too sure. We added OPS and K/BB for the 6th stat.
  22. Just drafted last night (Soxtalk league 3, HtH 6x6): C - Jorge Posada (11/122) 1B - Mark Teixeira (2/23) 2B - Ray Durham (10/119) SS - Miguel Tejada (3/26) 3B - Joe Crede (7/74) OF - Juan Pierre (4/47) OF - Magglio Ordonez (5/50) OF - Eric Byrnes (14/167) UTIL - Pat Burrell (13/146) BN - Juan Rivera (18/215) BN - Rich Aurilia (19/218) BN - Cliff Floyd (21/242) SP - Johan Santana (1/2) SP - Brett Myers (9/98) SP - Justin Verlander (8/95) RP - Todd Jones (6/71) RP - Jason Isringhausen (12/143) P - Ryan Dempster (15/170) P - Kevin Millwood (16/191) P - Brad Penny (17/194) BN - Greg Maddux (20/239) BN - Woody Williams (22/263)
  23. QUOTE(CryptviLL @ Feb 26, 2007 -> 12:05 AM) Okay, so theres some people who can't have a draft on a weekday. And theres some that dont want it on a friday/saturday. So how's sunday night for everyone? I will put a third SP spot for you. . The alternate to that debate is : Holds = More relievers = lessinging the value of a Joe Nathan / K-rod. It would make drafting a reliever in the third round/fourth a bad pick. Ya know? It makes the closers valuable. As I do agree with it not being good when you miss out on the closers, it's a choice you take to not select closers in the draft. As you might miss out on closers, you will have a better offense then the guy with 2-3 closers. Agreed. K/BB + OPS will be added. Thank you and thank you Most nights are OK with me, after 7pm.
  24. I'm disappointed we can't add more than 1 stat per side. I really liked the stats we had last year. I agree to an extent with the argument against holds, however for those who miss out on 3 solid closers they at least have an alternate option. It does help to even the playing field a bit. It's been my experience that as soon as someone falls behind or misses out on stocking up a particular position they lose interest in the league. There will be those that scan the team and player notes and will scoop up available prospects. Not everyone can do this on a daily basis. These are the people that will get disgruntled and quit playing. Anyway, if I were to pick a pitching stat I guess I'd go with K/BB over K/9. Once again, there aren't that many flamethrowers or high strikeout pitchers in the league and as soon as a few managers get their team stocked it will leave out those less fortunate. At least with K/BB there is a better chance of picking up either high strikeout pitchers or those who don't throw many walks. I also completey agree with OPS over OBP. And finally I'll reiterate my interest in a third SP spot (nudge nudge, wink wink)
  25. Wewt let's get this thing going! I prefer a HtH format. I was in Reddy's league last year and I completely approve of the settings he's mentioned. I'd also like to see a 3rd starting pitcher position. We should use Yahoo!'s can't cut list too. Everything else looks good.
