Cubbies go down in order 1-2-3. Bottom of the 7th 8-1 Sox.

This is pretty funny...all someone has to do is make a post with "ESPN" in the title or somewhere in the post and it draws everyone! Perhaps we should get a contingent to shout "ESPN" at the front gate to the stadium?

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 04:46 PM) He always says that on when there's at least 3 balls in the count. He's kind of telling Konerko, or whoever the batter is, what they should try to do. Take ball four and get the walk, or get a base hit.... Yaya, I got it
-
Eh it figures...I bench KKKorey (I love that!) and he singles and gets a SB. But the good news is I just saved a bunch of m...oh wait, that's not it. I also have Freddie starting

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 04:13 PM) you're kidding right? "c'mon Pauly, ball four base hit." Obviously I'm not kidding. What I thought Hawk was saying sounds more logical IMO.

QUOTE(jerseysox @ Jun 23, 2005 -> 12:36 PM) Ball four base hit. That should say "fall for a base hit"

I'll give McCarthy the benefit of the doubt only because he arrived in Chicago today. Let's give him a week to work in the big leagues and see how he responds this weekend. Hopefully it'll be a better result. I love how this team finds a way to win nearly every single night. And it's not the same way - they can win with offense, defense, bullpen, starting pitching, "small ball", you name it, they can play it and adjust to the situation at hand. I love it! :

White Sox vs Dodgers 6/19/05 Game Thread

I loved the drama of that last pitch - The ump waited an extra second or two and then slowly did the arm-thing and called a strike as Drew looked on in disbelief. -
Like....wow and stuff...

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 04:48 PM) People still listen or watch this guy? Rome is a moron, plain and simple. I would put Kotex boy and this guy in a fight for biggest tard on tv/radio. After his failed attempt at TV sports interviewer, I can't believe he even got offers for other shows. He's a loud mouthed ignorant panty-waste who only HAS a show because there are people dumb enough to listen to/watch him on a regular basis. And that's all that matters in the media - viewership/readership. You don't need to be smart, have intelligent discussions, or even know what the hell you're talking about. If you can be controversial enough or sacrifice personal integrity for ratings that's all that counts. It's sickening.

QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 12:24 PM) Reading his last comment I am wondering if most media members even go to the Cell. Does he know what he is talking about? Our fans spend too much time in line for beer to follow the game? Most of the time the line is short and takes no time at all even if we do get up for beer or soda or food or whatever. What is he talking about? That statement right there pissed me off more than anything Carl has ever said. Of course they don't! Did you see his earlier comment? They're too frightened of getting shot or robbed in Crime Central, aka the South Side!

Here's another turn on the Everett interview. Some "interesting" comments by the author, but more importantly (and infinitely more humorous), the readers' comments. Enjoy! http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/writ...tter/index.html

QUOTE(rangercal @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 06:51 PM) Yes he is! By teens! Only dumb ones who can't score higher than 80%

70%. I missed 1, 2, and 6. I mixed up the pitchers in 2 & 6.

my absolutely last thread on Garland
BuehrleTheAce replied to Hideaway Lights's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Every time I hear "poor run support" I always always ALWAYS think of Mike Sirotka. Man, he was probably one of the most cursed lefies around when it came to the team picking him up offensively. -
Once again I will reiterate... We need a post-count minimum for starting new threads. It works beautifully at another forum I frequent, as it keeps the forum clean of trollish posts as well as same-topic threads. And general garbage.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 03:34 AM) This is true. He's hitting bloopers and base hits to RF. That's a good sign that he isn't trying to pull-jerk every damn pitch. Although if you guys noticed, all 4 of our homers last night were to LF. "PULL BASEBALL, SON!!!" His homer Tuesday was also to RF. I was totally amazed, and as it's already been said, it makes him that much more dangerous.

I nominate this thread for BEST EVAR! Great call Gene! -
We really need to institute a post-count minimum for starting new threads. This stuff is getting old.

Congrats and welcome. Hopefully your addition will help the rest of the admins keep the floor clean

QUOTE(ReinsdorfSucks @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 12:23 AM) what's up with all the negativity? we're still in first place. buehrle pitched FANTASTIC. he ain't got s*** to show for it. but hey, it's not actually about winning. coulda used those 2 runs we gave away huh? Classically, this is the time of year to be negative about the Sox. Since this year is so different than it's been in the recent past, people don't know what to do with themselves, so tradition sets in. Get used to it, it's never gonna change here. -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 12, 2005 -> 12:16 AM) Don't complain, PK. If you weren't the fattest, slowest piece of s*** on the bases, you'd have been in there easy. Really! Whoever sold the Sox on his baserunning and steal abilities sure put one over on them! PS: he's 6' 2" @ 215lbs. Not quite fat, but yes, veeeery slow. What do you want, he's a power-hitting white guy. -

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Jun 11, 2005 -> 11:43 PM) You guys are hilarious. It's not like we've scored 6.3 runs per game in our last 10 or anything. 4 games (all of which we won) coming against guys we haven't seen or if we had seen him, not very much. I do appreciate the laugh track along with the game thread tho. Hey, think of it this way: you don't have to split your viewing between the game AND SNL tonight -

Wanna laugh at the patheticness of this offense? Stauffer's line prior to tonight's game: 5 starts, 29.1IP, 31 hits, 15ER, 12BB, 17K, 1.45 WHIP, 2 homers given up. Record: 1-2. Stauffer's line tonight: 7IP, 3 hits, 1ER, 0BB, 7K (season and career high).
