QUOTE(YahtzeeSox @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 07:06 PM) It's supposed to make you guys lighten up on your "crybaby" comments because apparently we are crybabies too. Ooooooh, I see. Well in that case...*ahem*...

"Secret's out: Leadoff men back in vogue"

31? Wow, I didn't realize he'd accumulated so many already. Last I remembered he was at 23. Nice work SPod! -
QUOTE(YahtzeeSox @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 07:00 PM) For the record, Carl Everett was just recently complaining about our own schedule compared to the Twins. And this is supposed to validate the comment? That's like Jeffrey Dahmer saying he's a people person.

Jesus, what a bunch of whiners. In football teams in the same division do play different out-of-division opponents every year and you never hear anyone whining about it. It's based on previous season's record. So as Eddie Murphy, impersonating Richard Pryor, says to Bill Cosby, "Have a Coke and a smile and shut the f*** up!".

QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Jun 9, 2005 -> 01:24 PM) Not quite. If Sullivan scored on a SAC Fly, and the inning ended without any more hits or what not, the run would be unearned, because the errant throw allowed him to score. He wouldn't have scored from 2nd on a SAC Fly. It's not just because he was a base runner already the run counts. Yea I read the posts that were made while I was compiling mine. It's all about the double (which is perfectly logical).

The first error - a throw to 2nd by Widger - was during a steal attempt by Chris Sullivan. Since he was already a baserunner his run counts. The second error - Ozuna's throw - wouldn't have impacted Garabito reaching. He got a single without benefit of an error. Interestingly, he did not receive an RBI for the Atkins run. Here's a description for error that may explain the second error scenario better. http://encyclopedia.laborlawtalk.com/Error...l_statistics%29

Haha, that is too cool! Man, check out some of those names! Liefer, Caruso, Bere. Martinez, Mouton, Phillips, Officer Ron, Kreuter, Franco, Ventura, Cameron...nice blast from the past there

What team would you like your first major league start to be against (favorite team growing up, most hated team, park you'd like to pitch in, that sort of thing).
-
Are there any pitches you don't throw that you'd like to learn (ala Este and the cutter)? What pitch do you feel most comfortable with in general (that you use to get a K or out)?

It all depends on the situation. Including past accomplishments and what he's done so far, I'd say Gooch. He's adjusted well to the American game, and with his accomplishments in Japan, he's a solid all-around hitter. His average is very good this year, and we know he has power (due to his numbers in Japan), but he hasn't shown it consistently for the Sox yet. For clutch hits there have been a few - Pauly, Dye, and ARow come to mind. Even Crede seems to play good in clutch situations. I can remember several times he's hit a GW homer or driven in the game-winning run. Heck, even Timo was clutch for us this year! SPod was crucial for us last night with his 2-run double.

QUOTE(Tmar28 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 11:40 AM) i don't know, maybe i am reading what you said wrong but Houston threw a no hitter against the yankees in 2003 Ah sorry, I misquoted my source. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/gameday...t=.jsp&c_id=mlb -
Byung-Hyun Kim this year: 2 starts, 19 total appearances. 30.2 IP. 31 hits, 24ER, 25BB, 25K. Opponents are batting .231 against him in Colorado. 1 home start (May 11th vs. Atlanta), 1 away start (@ Cubbies). Home start: 5IP, 3 hits, 1ER, 1HR, 4BB, 5K. No decision, but Colorado won the game 6-5. Take it FWIW.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 09:22 AM) Its worth noting again, that this is the first time in the history of interleague play that an AL pitcher threw a two hitter in Denver. Actually, it's the lowest hit total in ANY interleague game, ever. Previously Anaheim (LA/California) and Texas threw 5 hitters. -

QUOTE(Jordan4life_2005 @ Jun 7, 2005 -> 12:00 AM) Easy to have faith with a 6 run lead. Not with our bullpen, especially after Ozzie overworked Hermy and Marte the past week! -

Looks like a slap in the face to Frank to me. Why would he PH Timo there? Granted with a 6 run lead the game isn't in danger of getting out of hand, but please! I'm sure the fans left in the stands would have loved to have seen Frank instead of Timo. Ozzie, Ozzie, Ozzie, what are you doing to us??? -

It's pretty bad when the road team has to teach the home team how to hit in their own park, especially Coors Field. Sox are outhitting the Rox (I like it!) 15-2 through 7.5 innings. Of course, a lot of that can be attributed to Garcia's performance tonight. -

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 11:13 PM) No sooner does DJ say that Konerko is perfect on the night, than he grounds out. Line drive up the middle for Dye. He killed it. DJ or Hawk are ALWAYS good for one jinx per game. -

The Rockies announcers just said this is turning into one of the all-time pitching performances at Coors Field. And it couldn't have happened to a better guy...well ok, maybe Buehrle
