QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 04:49 PM) So many things are going our way this year. Team of destiny... It is starting to get a bit spooky isn't it? Man that really sucks! He was doing so well. Here's to a speedy recovery Clint!

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 02:00 PM) If Tino Martinez and Paul Konerko are 2 of the top 3 vote getters at 1st base, I wonder who the 3rd guy is. I bet it's somebody else that's entirely non-deserving. I would have to go with Teixeira. He's been a beast this year. In order, the Top 3 1b should be: Mark Teixeira, Texas Mike Sweeney, KC Umm, nevermind, the rest don't really match up. Tino/PK/Sexson would be the best of the rest, and that ain't saying much. If PK got his AVG up another 50 points he'd be #3 without a doubt. Tino is still on the map due to his early-season barrage, but he's plummetted back down to earth in a hurry, and Sexson strikes out way too much (and has a low AVG).

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 02:54 PM) Ah, yes. That will be the problem, it seems. "Taking one for the team" comes immediately to mind. Bodies heal, but you can only play the same game once in your life!

Every Loss is magnified when you're this good
BuehrleTheAce replied to JUGGERNAUT's topic in Pale Hose Talk
JUG, Can I make a humble suggestion? I've read a lot of your posts, and a lot of the arguments and discussions started in your threads and threads you post in. I do like how you bring stats to the table in your discussions, however if you want to reach the most people and get them to your side, try to talk in layman's terms. Also, with such a long-winded post, abbreviating words should've even be a factor. It just clouds the point you're trying to get across. For example, I had to re-read this sentence to get what you meant: "He is more likely to break up a DP sit which of course is likely with Koney on.". After three or four times I realized "DP sit" meant "DP situation". Also, "In Crede's case there was never a RON sit for Ozuna...". OK, I got "sit" from the previous statement, but what is "RON". Runner on? I'm still unsure. And finally, "Ozzie managed to use his two highest NPERA ranked arms...". What's NPERA? Thanks, and keep it up. Stats are important, but remember they're not the be-all-end-all that you seem to believe in. ~BTA -
From the looks of it, we're not much better. Teams are 43 of 56 against us in SB. http://www.sportsline.com/mlb/stats/teamso...IC?&_1:col_1=12

Christ, with those numbers even Wheels could "run" one!

QUOTE(ISF @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) Whether you like it or not, win stats are used in helping determine all-star pitchers. Buerhle and Garland are givens at this point Thank God Torre won't be managing the AL team this year!

Tino Martinez, All Star at first base? LOL

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 07:17 PM) Frank's homer would have been a nice walkoff if Marte didn't serve up that homer on a silver platter to Hafner. Oh well. If only this, if only that. Well you can add this to the list: If only Buehrle didn't serve up 3 runs before Gooch's 2 run shot. Big deal, we still took 2-of-3.
-
Sorry, I'm not gonna let this (most-likely) loss ruin my mood. As I've said all season, I'll take 2-of-3 any time.

QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 06:36 PM) Believe me, I know. Cool. I'll make you a deal: let's correct everyone and back each other up. Since I now know there is at least one person here who cares about correct spelling/grammar/quoting at least we can have our own support crew! Heck, adding in some sarcasm or acidic humor can make it even more enjoyable! -

QUOTE(Brian @ Jun 4, 2005 -> 06:32 PM) If you are trying to quote Ghostbusters, the correct line would be, "Dog and Cats, living together, Mass hysteria!" You're welcome! FYI, no one likes a smartass. Trust me, I learned the hard way too -

You know, don't show me a closeup of the departing pitcher, I don't wanna feel bad for the guy. Oh wait....I'm NOT! Psyche! Dye flies out to deep left. EOI, Sox up 4-2. -

Ok all you Chicken Littles can go stick your heads back in the ground until next inning. Garland induces a DP. Great work by Uribe. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ May 31, 2005 -> 12:27 PM) Garcia's had a lot of problems pitching at the Cell this year...his ERA at home last time I checked was something like 5. Tonight's as good a night as any to turn that around...coming off a pair of very good starts. Worse. In 4 home starts he's 1-2 with a 5.68 ERA and a 1.66 WHIP. Hopefully the combination of confidence from yesterday with his near-stranglehold over the Halos will mean a nice performance for Mr. Garcia tonight. -

I hope Garcia can duplicate his road dominance at home. Go Sox! -
Timo applied some of that Frank mojo for taking his place in the lineup. It was really Frank batting there, but he was using Timo's body

QUOTE(Fotop @ May 30, 2005 -> 06:58 PM) As I said before: Worst. Managed. Game. Ever. This outcome does NOT justify the awful handling of today's game. Get yer head out of your ass Guillen. But, Sox win! 110% agree, no doubt about it.

Until the final regular season game is over and the Twins have captured another division title, I will be a believer. I'd be a fatalist if I wished for a team I followed to do badly.

For those of us what are not in or around Chicago, ESPN2 is showing the Sox-Angels game today. National esposure for the return of the Big Hurt! w00t!

I can't be there in person, but I'll be home in NY cheering the return of the Big Hurt! Let's get this thing back on track Sox! Welcome back Frank!
