Interesting events. God glad to see Murphy gone. His entire show was painful on the ears. Mixed on Holmes and Hamp. Liked Holmes, couldnt stand Hamp.

QUOTE (scenario @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 11:11 AM) You didn't really just make a comparison based on the 29 at-bats Wise this year, did you? And called what I said dumb? Look... I'm not suggesting Wise is the answer. So far, he's shown he's a marginal player too. I just don't see why people get so religious about why one marginal player needs to be sat down so another marginal player gets to play... And then screaming that the manager needs to be fired because "he doesn't get it". If Wise was producing more then sure, platoon. But all things being equal, I would rather have someone who can catch the ball in CF right now as opposed to adventures in outfielding. Brian is not a great offensive player, he has made some strides this year. Yes he sucks when men are on, and he puts pressure on himself. But right now there is no reason that Wise is on this team. He provides nothing. My hopes for long term, is that Jordan Danks takes this position and runs with it for the future. Some seasoning, but the talent is definately there.

QUOTE (scenario @ Jun 3, 2009 -> 10:44 AM) Brian, of course, could make this whole thing easier by PLAYING BETTER. Amazing how people want to pick any one thing he does well and wave it like a flag as to why Brian deserves to be a regular and questioning why Ozzie 'doesn't get it'. What part of having a sub .700 OPS are you not paying attention to??? Get a grip. When Brian plays well enough to be a real MLB regular, he'll get the job. Don't blame management for his inability to get the job done. The platoon makes no sense. The numbers don't even support it. Anderson against righties .313BA/.370OBP/.703OPS Anderson against lefties .154BA/.313OPB/.505 OPS And we are going to get him more ABs against lefties, why.

Info on the starting pitcher we are facing. Can someone forward this to our hitters so they are not shocked when they see him pitch. Baseball cube on Josh PitchFX breakdown for Josh Outman -
Our inability to hit rookie pitchers. Do we actually consult scouting reports, or watch video.

QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 09:49 PM) The thing that irritated me for this game was that through two innings the guy was at about 60 pitches yet he breezes. This was a loss no big deal but the approach changed midway through the game is what really pisses me off. The AJ and Nix AB's early and Pods getting picked off blow my mind. Where the f*** is Pods going..... Why do they f***ing insist on manufacturing runs when they are scoring. The Pittsburgh game they blew is the epitome of stupid. Ozzie says Pods was trying to steal 3rd.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 09:19 PM) ^^^^ What this guy's sayin. Don't give Dweezy more credit than he deserves with this cunning talk. Actually you are probably right. I shouldn't hate the man because he sucks. You are right, he is obviously trying as hard as he can to stay here, and cunning and gile are his 2 tools. Speaking of which, is it possible for someone to have 7 tools now? It amazes me when a ball hit to right center field is handled by a natural defensive CF. They read the ball off the bat, run to and area and the ball find their glove. The wise approach is, play in because you can't read the ball off the bat. Run as fast as you can and dive, oh look the ball is in my glove. I am the best. His routes on fall balls to the wall are funny, he should be dizzy on the number of times he can turn himself around.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 09:14 PM) That was a good catch. Sucks for all the Wise haters...Wait, I mean everybody. It was a catch that a normal CF makes in stride without looking like he had to put in max effort. For Wise and playing shallow, its a web gem. Thats the difference between a good OF and a guy using cunning and gile to get by.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 08:43 PM) Shouldn't this be a big deal? Why are our players not completely embarrassed about a scrub rookie beating them every time? Why is this not an issue? Why doesn't the media get on the players? Why do they get a free pass on this every time. The whole thing with being a rookie, in any form of the word, is to get knocked around by the more experienced. Rookies are supposed to get picked on by the seasoned guys, in any line of work. So my question is WTF, why isn't somebody screaming at our batters for embarrassing the team, the tradition of the game, and the entire city? This is a way bigger deal than we are making it, IMO. I need to get punched in the face, I'd feel better. Because they haven't figured this out yet. They just think that these are awsome pitchers hitting the black of the plate with perfect pitches. Everytime we have heard from the team after a game like this you get Konerko and company talking up the pitcher.

QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 08:39 PM) Well.......if we're only going to lose one game on this homestand, we might as well lose big (let's just hope its Gobble's last appearance in a White Sox uniform) It aint going to happen. If that was the case, they would of made up their mind already and have checked out Whistler tonight in a low leverage game. This is a perfect time for Whistler to get his feet wet.

QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 08:34 PM) It just might be selective memory, but is it just me or do the white sox not hit mediocre pitchers they have never seen before? This kid has good stuff, just doesn't have the command he will have as a seasoned major leaguer. They should be able to get into deep counts and put a hurting on him.

If the Big Hurt comes back...is it just to retire?

QUOTE (WSoxMatt @ Jun 2, 2009 -> 10:52 AM) Id let him play one last time in front of the fans, then let him retire So who exactly do you release, or move down to accommodate this request. He hasn't hit all year long, so what exactly will this accomplish. -
Dayan or Beckham at 3rd if Fields can't do it

Ozzie is the master at the back handed compliment. He first makes that statement, then talks about how he is going to be a great player, and a big part of the organization soon.
