  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 01:57 PM) At what point this season will someone in the clubhouse mention to Alexei that he can't play that deep on double play possibilities? They showed him doing it at Wrigley field a few weeks ago. Its obviously a problem when Hawk is ripping you for it.
  2. QUOTE (scenario @ Jul 4, 2009 -> 01:54 PM) No excuse for Alexei not to turn that DP. No error there but it might as while be. Ridiculous. Don't know where Alexei is setting up that he can't turn a double play on a routine ground ball to the 2nd baseman when Guillen is running. Its like having Dye or Kong beat out your double play ball.
  3. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 10:59 PM) I understand the point, but I don't buy this argument for ONE SECOND. He was good enough to play April 6th and proved it in ST. You realize that ST doesn't equal the major's correct. There have been a lot of guys who are ST hall of famers in the Cactus League due to the fact that breaking pitches don't have depth in the Valley. He went to the Southern League, which is a pitching rich league and faced some good prospects in a large baseball park. If he was ready based on his ST numbers, then Brian Anderson and Ryan Sweeney are headed to the hall of fame as perennial guys who rock the straight pitch in the valley. I like Gordon down in the lineup. It gives a flow through our lineup, and allows it to score consistently. For years, we have had a heavy top lineup, then nothing at the end. Let him sit at the bottom of the lineup and keep the runs a flowing.
  4. QUOTE (JohnCangelosi @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 07:49 PM) I am NOT complaining! However, when we see something good, like we all knew in ST, why put it back into AA?? Pointless. I don't want us to be making the same mistakes, that's all. I think KW has this team very well situated for a second half run.... Remember when Evan Longoria was held back a bit, and then came up. That was to avoid some service time issues, and to keep his FA status a year back. We avoided Beckham probably being a super 2 player, and therefore avoided him going to FA a year early. Sometimes the answer isnt just that our Front Office is a bunch of blind buffoons. Sometimes, they have a plan, and a smart plan. He is here now, and he will be under our control for a long time. Be happy that he looks ready, and is contributing. Be happy.
  5. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 08:43 PM) Today is his first full day off in a while. He came in as a sub for the 16 inning game yesterday. Manager probably wanted to give him an off day, but ended up catching 7 innings. As for the Hudson talk, he sure seems like the kind of prospect Kenny would trade at the deadline. The team is playing well, they are in the race and the rotation has a lot of young guys. Allen would probably make more sense to trade, but Hudson has to have a good amount of value right now. I would rather send off Carter, and keep Hudson. We need a righty to balance our our young lefties. The Sox are probably leaning that way, considering Hudson has been exposed to more difficult talent, which could lead to failure. And Carter is still in A. Guys staying at a level below are usually the trade bait.
  6. QUOTE (Stocking @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 07:08 PM) I think that was Becks call, not ozzies. we'd be praising how intelligent it was to bunt seeing the corners playing deep had he succeeded. No, I want my doubles gap to gap hitter driving the ball not playing NL bunt and pray. Also considering how hot Beckham is, he is better off driving the ball and seeing what happens.
  7. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Jul 1, 2009 -> 07:01 PM) No it won't. Beckham really should be batting 6th in this lineup. Castro 8th. I also don't want to see Beckham bunting, he should swing away. He is a gap to gap hitter, having him bunt is a joke.
  8. Anytime the sox want to put this crappy pitcher away is fine by me. He is garbage, lets not make him into something he isn't.
  9. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 30, 2009 -> 06:51 PM) Gordon Beckham hitting .250 He is also starting to hit ropes into the gaps. God this kid is talented.
  10. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 29, 2009 -> 08:29 PM) Any Sox fan watching this game should feel so good about the future. Watching these types of ABs, and the gap to gap work truly makes me smile. These are the types of hitters we have needed to balance this offense off. When they get their feet wet more, and learn this game more they will be more dangerous.
  11. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 29, 2009 -> 11:50 AM) Yes and no. Good action, CGI, and lots of s*** blowing up. Good movie, hell to the no. Lies, damn lies I tell you. See it again on the IMAX. Megan Fox on the IMAX, and then there are robots blowing up crap everywhere. The only way this could of been better is if Ms. Fox dumped that little moron Sam, and fell in love with Kate Beckinsale. Then the two of them defeat Megatron and celebrate with 40 minute love scene.
  12. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jun 29, 2009 -> 10:52 AM) Not to support the guy, but I have a couple of comments. First, he was accused, not convicted, correct? If so, first of all, he is innocent until proven guilty. Second of all, while I agree a 45 year old man has absolutely no business having a sleep over with a child, BUT, what if it was just a sleep over and the families of these kids saw an opening to fleece him for all he's worth. He may have been a couple of sandwiches short of a picnic, which led him to do stupid things, but that doesn't necessarily mean he diddled anyone. My point is...I don't know, I wasn't there, I'm not going to judge him. He was a tortured soul who was denied childhood and spent the rest of his life trying to regain it. And that's just sad. That being said...I'm done with the news coverage. And for those of you that thought Farrah Fawcett didn't get enough coverage, they did re-run her documentary oon NBC over the weekend. And if you haven't watched it, it's absolutely heartbreaking. This tortured soul crutch that people keep using kind of irks me. It wouldnt work for the neighborhood wierdo, why does it work here. Oh yes, he can sing and dance like no other. Every child star has a lost childhood. Some of them are abused, hell take a look at the local prison population and you can find lost childhoods and terrible abuse. He was an adult male, who slept with children in his bed that were not his own. I don't need to convict him to know that is wrong. The parents who allowed this are sick in their heads. You don't use children as bait to get close to someone you admire, or use for a ransom later. The parents are as guilty as this guy. Oh and OJ didn't kill his wife because he wasnt convicted either.
  13. QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 09:35 PM) lolz, on CBS it said it was like 82 in Chicago today.. It was 104 here on Wednesday, and it was absolutely brutal. I wish it was in the 80s here, you guys got it lucky. Lets have this conversation in January when its -5 degrees for the high and we have 24 inches of snow on the ground.
  14. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 04:28 PM) I'm no psychologist but I think there's a good chance that he really didn't understand that it wasn't normal because he was too messed up in the head, and that he never actually did anything. He also didn't have many actual friends, just people that wanted to be around him and take advantage of him. Pedophiles don't understand that their love for children is wrong either. This is a slippery slope. Whether or not his advisors are helping him out is not the point. He is an adult male. And if he is incapable of understanding right from wrong then he should of been institutionalized.
  15. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 04:31 PM) Why didn't Mark just flip it over to Paulie when he saw he was about to commit a balk? His vision certainly saw Pauley over in the vicinity. Because it was a blind pick off move. He is looking at home plate when he starts his move, when he looks over to pick up his target its hard to mid stream throw against the grain to where Paulie was.
  16. This used to be mine a few years ago. It was a classic as well. Animated hot chicks, in all sorts of undress. God bless the internet. That being said, well done sir. Well done.
  17. QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Jun 26, 2009 -> 10:07 PM) Give the f***ing guy a break, he was completely denied a childhood and went nuts. Have some sympathy and stop hating the sinner more than the sin. He was accused of pedophilia, not jay walking. Lots of people had bad childhoods and dealt with abuse. I appreciate his talent, and the gift he had and the world will miss his talent. I can also appreciate that its not normal for 45 year old man to sleep in the same bed with children that are not their own.
  18. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 22, 2009 -> 02:04 PM) My family was broke as s*** and my dad spent long periods of time being unemployed or working s*** jobs until he could get a better one so I have a defense mechanism about that sort of thing. My father was a broke ass immigrant, who worked 2 to 3 jobs most of our lives and preached education is the way out of our mess. I remember garbage picking to get a bike because we couldn't afford one. My generations success is based on the back breaking effort of my father and my mother. I appreciate hard work, I appreciate those who can and try and are unemployed due to unfortunate circumstances like your father. I have a huge problem with those who can, and don't because of selfishness or laziness. I don't mind helping out those who need a helping hand in the time of need. I have a huge problem helping those who are lazy, and f***ed off and are a burden on society.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2009 -> 01:29 PM) Then in that case...let those of us who have nothing have a system of the quality of the V.A...say some sort of public option...and then anyone who wants to pay for more expensive care can feel completely free to do so. Which is what the President's plan happens to call for anyway. Because its not going to work like that. The minute you give government based health care, and then tax private health care plans to partially pay for it, then you will have business stopping to offer their own plans. Basically this will be a waterfall affect of more people on the government dime. Plus how is this going to solve the illegal alien problem. Its not like its going to change their way of medical care, showing up at the emergency room with the common cold.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 22, 2009 -> 01:06 PM) However, Blue Cross Blue Shield, that's who I want deciding who lives and who dies. All you are doing is changing the name from Blue Cross Blue Shield to Government. Because I can tell you that the same life or death decisions will be made by the government.
  21. Soxpride club just paid out a bonus for me. I picked it up a few years back for the fact that mlb radio was included. Well just scored Cubs-Sox in the first level from a release to Pride club members. This rocks.
  22. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jun 20, 2009 -> 11:32 PM) Diego got robbed of a UD. I had it 30-26 Diego. I could see a 29-27 or 29-28 score for Diego but how he ended up getting a split is beyond me. There's no question he dominated the first round and he easily won the second 10-9 with those nasty elbows. I still don't get how judges score fights the way they do. If you're on top but doing nothing but defending and getting your ass kicked, that is NOT a dominant position for you! LOL. I thought Diego got ripped off by the judges in the Fitch decision and they almost ripped him off again tonight. Something really needs to be done about favoritism towards wrestlers in the Octagon. The cage and lack of soccer kicks is already enough of an advantage for wrestlers as it is. Well I think its how the sport will mature, and grow. Judges see a guy with a takedown, and they consider it dominant position. In reality its what they do with it. You can have a great wrestler take a guy down, then flounder and fail with the top position. Then you can have a BJJ guy who is on his back, attacking from below, setting up submissions, being a good worker. Tonight was interesting because of the amount of damage that Diego put on Guida from the bottom position. The kimura seems to be a go to for a lot of guys, but its a hard submission to get. Working chokes, like a Dars or a arm triangle can be done a lot easier with less energy than fumbling around for the kimura. They also sap the other guys energy. Another thing is guys from the top position. They are always swinging for the fences on trying to hit the head. I would like to see a fighter, use elbows on the rib cage or the stomach. But again, guys are fighting for the card and to get the knockout instead of working for a decision. Its too much of a crap shoot when it goes to the card.
  23. Well the Guida/Sanchez fight was all kinds of awesome. Guida has a chin. Diego should win this fight. He completely dominated the first round. Then was on his back in the second round, but had a lot of good elbows from the bottom and was a good worker. The third round was kind of a draw. Diego had an arm triangle on Guida, but Guida was bloody as hell from the first round. Diego then tried a kimura. Got the arm out, but couldnt bend it up. Diego wins via split decision. Good, he deserved the win. Diego's striking has improved so much since his TUF experience. The one improvement he needs to work on is his ju jitsu from his back.
