  1. Well that sucked. Hopefully we can get our offense back in the swing tonight at some point.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 08:16 PM) And the first base umpire, Eric Cooper, is even worse. What a group of fail.
  3. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 08:13 PM) gameday shows both pitch 1 and 3 as within the strike zone laz diaz is a terrible umpire and ive thought that for a few years Laz and Merriweather back to back is a bad.
  4. For me spanking is not about inflicting pain or beating your kids. Its at the most a couple of swipes that make more noise, and maybe sting at the most. This is something that gets transitioned into other methods of punishment as the child grows older. Its the same methods my father used on me and my brothers, and I believe in. Now I have transitioned my oldest to privilege removal, and grounding if necessary to get the point about on the same time frame my father used for me. But again, its about the methods you use and your results. Punishment has to be catered to your child and their personality and your belief set.
  5. Its not velocity, its not his belly, its not any behavioral issues. Its location. When Jenks is on, he pumps a moving 94 mph fastball that hits corners and he gets ahead. Then he uses his curve or slider to put the guy away. Now his fastball is up, hitters are swinging early and presto boom. Its not rocket science. When your location is off, you start to aim. Presto walks, hit batters. The crap we are seeing. He needs a few days off, and maybe some side work. Could it be an issue with a mechanical tick. Sure who knows. Do I deal him in the offseason. Hell Yes. But thats because he will have value, and he is becoming a very expensive property.
  6. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 10:34 PM) Are you serious? I'm sure because Clayton threw more than 100 pitches in a game, his arm would fall off. Give me a break dude. He can handle 116, but 126 is too much, especially for a 25 year old pitcher? Not to mention he's coming off a nice long rest and hasn't had a long workload at all this season. Get real. Dusty Baker loves this line of thinking.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 10:23 PM) It really is. Its almost makes one embarrassed to be a human. I wish they would limit call in shows, and perhaps do a better job of screening the callers. Some of these guys................there is no way they should be allowed to be on the air. Its the same 4 to 6 callers that show, all the time.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 02:17 PM) Poreda, who is the Sox top pitching prospect, was used sporadically since being promoted to Chicago on June 9th. Poreda pitched well (2.45 ERA, 9H, 12K, 8 BB, 11IP) in all but his final appearance, where he faced two batters with the bases loaded and preceded to walk both of them. PROCEEDED... GAGED
  9. These are the modern day Yugos. At some point a Semi Truck is going to PINTO one of these into outerspace.
  10. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 11:31 PM) Just got back from the game...is it me or could Pods have totally caught that liner hit to left? And what was up with the inside-the-park-HR? Where is his head? Also, Linebrink needs to get his s*** straight. I was at the game as well. He pulled up on that ball. When the ball was hit up, I was sure he was going to get under it. Then he stopped.
  11. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 07:00 PM) Kalapse will be making an appearance in the Soxtalk chat between 7:00 pm and 11:00 pm on Monday July 20th. This will be his first live appearance in 6 weeks so don't f***ing miss it. Autographs will not be given but surprise sex will be available to all those who attend. Applicable fees may apply. This is what I get for actually going to the game. I blame the low chat attendance on the fact that Kyyle doesn't bring Cakes and Pie.
  12. Hopefully we take the time to see which David Price is showing up. The one that throws strikes, or the one that likes to walk the world. We need to make Price throw strikes. Don't help him out. Then its time for Floyd to get that hook over early and dominate. I will be there, hopefully cheering on a sox winner.
  13. On the good news front, this offensive has a chance to put up some great numbers in the long run. Lots of diversity through the lineup.
  14. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 03:20 PM) For whatever reason there is a variable that makes it so Anderson's better defense is not enough to outweigh being sent down. Whether its he had an option left, he refuses to listen, he has a bad attitude, he cant be trusted, he slept with Ozzie's wife, I dont know. We dont have all the information. With the poor defensive OF we will trot out there on a day in and day out standpoint, we need someone who can catch the ball late in the game down the strech. If its not Anderson, then get someone who can fill the bill. Because trotting out Wise as a defensive replacement is a joke.
  15. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 03:14 PM) People are acting like I actually have a horse in this race. I just dont think that Anderson has done enough to warrant outcry at his demotion. For all we know its because Anderson refuses to listen to the coaching staff. Its just so predictable that there is going to be uproar about Anderson. From what I can tell Ozzie likes to win, and hes not going to lose just to spite Brian Anderson. I could care less that they sent Anderson down. But for the love of god, at least have someone who doesn't wear his mitt on his head as our 4th OF. Wise was a terrible defensive OF last year, and this years its more of the same. I would rather they trade for someone who can catch a ball, and ditch wise as well. Because trotting Wise out into the OF late in games as a defensive replacement is akin to bringing Mackowiak out to CF as a late inning defensive replacement.
  16. QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 20, 2009 -> 02:55 PM) Tom Fornelli posted Levine's Twitter post: RT @espnchicago: Bruce Levine: Freddy Garcia threw 45 pitches and had good life on his fastball and breaking ball, but not much control. I want to see what a radar gun says for the good life before I get excited. Freddy lobbing 84 mph fastballs is not going to work out well. He needs to be 89 to 91 to be effective. At least he has excellent secondary stuff, unlike Colon who pumps in fastball after fastball and hopes movement gets him by.
  17. Did anyone really think that Ozzie would discard his security blanket. Come on. The ghost of Timo lives on. The only thing this screws up, is that we dont have a defensive replacement for late in games.
  18. Kinsler hits a walk off homer off of RA Dickey to win it for the Rangers, twins lose. All things stay the same in the central tonight.
  19. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 19, 2009 -> 03:50 PM) This Pena dude throws more meatballs than i had on my sub today. Coop will fix him.
  20. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 19, 2009 -> 03:19 PM) Yea, unfortanatley we don't really have other options. However, I did hear there was a Freddy sighting in the clubhouse today. . . He is going to throw a bullpen session, then he goes out for a minor league rehab stint. Lets see if he can get past 84 mph this time around.
  21. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 19, 2009 -> 03:16 PM) I'm pretty sure CQ owned him last year. Our hitters look like they had a very long night last night on the town. Very sluggish. That concert should of let out in time for them to get a good night rest.
  22. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 19, 2009 -> 02:40 PM) Ballgame. Carrasco's back to being Dj Carrasco. He lets other peoples runs score ala Thriller Jackson.
  23. Its a real simple formula for the Count. The minute you see him dropping down constantly, its going to be a mess. The minute you seem him coming over the top, and driving towards the plate. He looks good.
