Now that this move has been made I'm still shocked that with this payroll the best we can do at 4th OF is Wise or BA. There has to be something better out there in the scrap heap.

Did anyone really think that Ozzie would discard his security blanket. Come on. The ghost of Timo lives on. The only thing this screws up, is that we dont have a defensive replacement for late in games.

agreed. i'd much prefer ba because of his defensive play but i don't see either player being overly impactful to the sox chances from here on out.

It's the principle of our organization not keeping the best players on the 25 man roster which bothers people. Plus, Anderson has use as a defensive replacement when we're healthy, Wise has literally no use on this roster.

Well having one of them around who can play gold glove caliber 'D' would be nice considering Q/Pods/Dye are pretty terrible defensively

I would love to be in the room when KW and Ozzie made the decision to send BA down, I really want to know their reasoning.

 

And then I would love to hear what they tell BA, and how they would try to reason with him why he was being sent down (not that have to do this, they could just say this is our decision and you must obey, kinda like how they treat the fans with decisions like these).

 

I feel for BA, I know he isnt a great player, hell he isnt even a mediocre player. But he's better than Wise and still has the potential to be a good fourth outfielder and a slightly below average CF, while Wise is just plain crap and embarrasses the team with his play. Life just ain't fair Brian, sorry.

This is my 2nd game of the season. First one was Beckham's debut and now this, pretty awesome(though the first game ended up sucking).

On a team whose biggest weakness is defense, I think Anderson would be much more valuable as a late inning defensive replacement for Quentin than Dewayne Wise. As for hitting, who is the sub .200 hitting Wise going to pinch hit for anyway?

We shouldve seen this coming, personally I thought we would send Poreda down, but this doesnt come as a surpirse to me.

Didn't Wise already get DFA'd once earlier this year and make it through waivers? There is no demand for him among any other teams, so the options excuse doesn't hold much water.

Wise over BA? As someone else said earlier, I give up. Its clear that Ozzie (and/or KW) have no logical reason to do this, so, they must have some personal or "gut" reason, and they aren't changing their minds. Fortunately, its just the backup we are talking about.

 

I won't go as far as wanting Wise to get injured, or even wanting him to fail. My only hope at this point is that Wise gets thrown into some sort of trade as a filler for some other squad. Or that Wise retires.
