The Carlos Quentin Activated from DL

Featured Replies

Prediction: Ozzie waits until Pods hits a rough patch and quietly inserts Wise back into the starting leadoff role in centerfield. You guys may think it's crazy, but Dwyane Wise is the type of player Ozzie has always dreamed of having, a speedy, garbage version of Chone Figgins. Wise WILL get his ABs, there will just be a heavy 4 man rotation in the outfield justified by saying Quentin, Dye, and Pods all need rest-I guarantee it.

Wise hits Left Handed. Ozzie can put him in at all three outfield spots & Nix can play some outfield that's why BA went down. Although Anderson can has a great arm & plays good outfield, he also can't steal a base when needed to. D-Wise can steal a big base when needed.

Given it's the last man on the roster, it isn't the worst move KW has ever made, but this is the most mind-boggling. There is no defense for it.

Guess who's back, back again, Quentin's back, tell a friend...

FWIW Cowley was just on WSCR saying the plan is that Quentin will be starting 75% of the time.

So expect Wise to be getting a quarter of the starts plus probably coming in late in games as well.

Come one Soxtalk! Couldn't one of us got wind of this in advance so I could have activated TCQ for my fantasy teams tonight. We need to infiltrate the club house.

No he doesn't.

Yes, he does. He drives it into the ground, right to the fielder, often right into home plate and immediately to the catcher.

YAY Q!

BOOO WISE!

God damn it I thought we were done with this s***. The Sox finally serve us a cupcake and it's got spit all over it.

Coming from a big Brian Anderson fan, I have no problem with this move.

Not a problem here either. Q is back. :)

Sorry, i was too busy updating my team. So damn excited to have him back. Means i have to bench Beckham though.

Hopefully, Kenny can acquire a bench outfielder better than BA or Wise.

I believe this is what will happen, rendering the BA/Wise argument moot.

Can Geoff Blum play the OF?

Is this another one of Dweezy's cRaAaZzy bunting adventures you're reminiscing about?

The idea that people have no right to be upset about this move because Brian Anderson is involved is ludicrous. Seems to me that people are just disappointed or frustrated with Anderson and therefore think he must be punished. I don't know how else you can justify continuing to give at bats to a career minor leaguer who can't play defense and has hit .211/.252/.373 in his career and .196/.243/.320 this season with horrible arguments that involve arbitrarily tossing out the months where Anderson was successful or insisting that there's some good reason for this and we just aren't aware of it. C'mon, playing Wise no matter how poorly he performs is incredibly stupid and harmful to the team and it's been going on ever since midway through last season. Defending the unreasonable favoritism they've shown him is bad form.

Well said.

Wise is only slightly more useful than syphilis.

Frankly, I've just run out of energy lobbying for Anderson. He's going to get treated this way until he learns how to hit, whether it's the best move for the team or not.

Actually, I think that in half of the remaining 25% of games, we'll see Nix in LF against lefties. Lefty or righty doesn't matter too much with Q, so resting him vs. a lefty is no biggie.

Agreed. I have 0 problem with this move especially considering Wise can steal a base late in games. You lose that defensive replacement, but if this means Jayson Nix gets more at bats now, and who can play LF/RF, then I don't see how anyone can argue this. That kid has shown some flashes this year. And Josh is a disaster in LF, so having him play 3B/1B/DH is fine. Getz will probably man 2B more often now.

Based on?

The fact that my eyes tell me so. Or the fact that Anderson has one of the ugliest, most flawed swings in baseball. Nowhere did I say Wise is good but Wise is a better bat than Anderson. Both suck ass offensively though.

Welcome back Carlos!

I feel comfortable with a ball hit to the right side of the infield with Nix over there. I second your cough fit.

Per Cowley's Twitter:

Oz on Anderson: "if I didn't like Brian he would have been out of here a long time ago because I got a lot of power."
